Standings update

Sidney Crosby's shootout goal gave Pittsburgh a 4-3 win over Washington and that allowed the Penguins to jump over the Canadiens in the Eastern Conference standings. The Rangers moved ahead of the Canadiens earlier in the day. leaving the Canadiens in eighth place.

Florida, the Rangers and Penguins have 76 points each while the Canadiens and ninth-place Carolina have 75. The Hurricanes have played two more games than the Canadiens but they currently have one more victory and that's the first tiebreaker if they finish the season deadlocked.
