And Habs Inside/Out will be up with the rooster tomorrow morning ... at least with the hungover rooster who stirs to life at 8 a.m.

In an attempt to get into the Guinness Book of World Records' Live-Blogging Marathon category, HIO will follow trade deadline specials on TSN and RDS, from 8 until whenever they run out of things to talk about.

After a quick homemade latté, the site will offer live-blogging of Canadiens-Sabres, beginning with the pre-game at 7 p.m.

•  • •

Speaking of how hard-working and indispensable we are, Google Analytics calculates Habs Inside/Out had 2,383,333 page views in February – up from 1,180,013 in February, 2008.
That's a 102 per cent increase.

And comScore MediaMetrix credits Habs Inside/Out with 92,000 unique visitors in January – up from 40,000 a year ago. That's a 130 per cent jump.

Are we great or what?

If only the economy were doing as well as Habs Inside/Out ... Brussels sprouts would taste like like green balls of ice cream, Mathieu Dandenault would be dealt for Vincent Lecavalier tomorrow and Penelope Cruz would be making lattés while I live-blogged the trade.

•  •  •

What to do on the last night before Trade Deadline Day:

Run, don't walk, to rent Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Note on the Penelope Cruz photo: I couldn't find a nice one of Dandenault.

If we put Penelope behind the bench in a little black dress the team would be HIGHLY motivated.

Nina76's picture
I think most of you all need a good night's sleep I did not ejoy the comments to-nite..............Usually very interesting......but not so to-nite

Steve in Kingston's picture
Hey Mike, if you really want to increase your pageviews, reduce the number of comments-per-page. Walla! Seriously now, I hate to rain on your parade but you should do three things:
  1. The exact opposite. But that wrecks the opportunity for collegial self-congratulations about page-view totals, and
  2. Implement comment streaming, where comments are delivered to followers in near real time, inserted at the top of the page, and
  3. Implement endless scrolling where a user, whose viewpane nears the bottom-of-page, gets additional content delivered and inserted at the bottom so he can keep reading without full-page reloads.
Eventually you'll see it's not about page-views, it's about better serving great value to your fans. I'd be happy to provide examples, even code, if interested.

I'm sure techie Mike is going to run with your three things.

I didn't know Boone was the webmaster.

How about permenently shelving BGL and winging it with Dandy?

Nahlsy's picture
BGL's knock out over Shelley sparked the guys for the 3 goals at the end of the first that saved our sorry butts on Saturday. Without that, I don't think it's anywhere near as pretty, since we'd have been playing catchup and taking more chances rather than collapsing on Halak and clearling all of those rebounds the rest of the way.

we need to hop on voros faster than penelope. our 4th liners are a joke compared to the rest of the league can't win in the playoffs without them

Habhopeful's picture
its obvious that you may not know how waivers work, we have a long wait to be able to even think of picking him up and what exactly has he done? im sure has grit which is a good thing and slightly small offensive upside but his D-Game is weak and which 4th liners are you referring to exactly? "Today is the lovely Anna Kournikova's 18th Birthday or as hockey player Sergei Fedorov knows it, 'The day I can legally start telling everyone I am sleeping with Anna Kournikova.'" -Craig Kilborn

vaya_'s picture
not sure voros is a dependable shutdown winger, though. he's shown some offensive upside, but is he good defensively?

Mike, Is HI/O celebrating it's success with these super duper extra long pages? It's like sixty posts a page! I like it.

Mike Boone's picture
Well, yes. The celebration includes longer pages .. and champagne ... and dinner at Au Pied du cochon ... and bonuses that would embarrass a Wall St. bond trader ... and women who have a thing for successful bloggers ... Gee, hope I can wake up in time to blog the Trade show.

twocents's picture
With all that on your plate, we'll understand if you don't.

seems that way...I sure hope they stay this way.

I know there are some female Habs fans that have been less than impressed that 50% of the avatars are half naked bimbos with Habs crests on them somewhere as it is, I don't think adding more bimbos to each of the journalism pieces as well would exactly help matters much. Anymore than a lot of the guys would care to see the latest Playgirl poses of the Habs players as they step out of the shower attached to the articles. If Price and Kovalev were posing naked on each page of the site, the girls may like it more but the guys may not care for it. Just a thought.

Congrats on the stats, Boone! With all due respect to the other contributors, I visit this site mainly for your posts and think your live-blogging of the games is the heart and soul of Habs I/O. Best wishes for continued success!

I echo these thoughts. Ex nihilo nihil fit

Harani's picture
Available on waivers: Miroslav Satan PIT (3 Million) Brendan Morrison (Ducks Centre) (2.75 Million UFA) (5'11, 185 pounds) No need! Gary Roberts TBL (1.25 Million) Brendan Bell (Sens Defenseman) (0.5 Millions) (6'1, 205 pounds) Eric Perric (Atlanta Centre) (0.75 Million) But too small (5'9, 183 pounds Aaron Voros (NYR) (0.9 Million) Jon Sim (NYI) (1 Milllion) Pretty much no one of interest to Bob!

Nahlsy's picture
This'll sound odd at first but, I'd make a move for Kolzig in Tampa somehow (packaged for something else like Recchi or Malone maybe) Kolzig won't hit the cap because he's out injured, likely for the rest of the year, he's a UFA next year so that's not a big deal either, the idea there is that Kolzig is Price's mentor and it might be good for the kid to have him around to help him find and then fine tune his game again. Let Olie sit on the bench as a goalie coach of sorts and let Rollie walk before we lose another bright young star would be my subtle suggestion.

mrhabby's picture
no thanks, bg can do better than those oldies.

I definitly wouldn't mind (Would love) Gary Roberts for the fourth line lw and for playoff experience.

We currently have 14 players on the fourth line.

tony d's picture
lol...yeah I'd rather get Penelope Cruz before another 4th liner

I'd be very surprised if Aaron Voros isn't claimed by someone. Tough guy who can play.

Wow. We could use Voros. Hands no worse than Higgins. Not slow of foot. Touch as nails. He'd look great alongside Koivu and Tanguay...

I dont blame rangers, they need that pest on the team who can actually score for them (apparently only for rangers). No matter what Avery did in the past i still like his *** talking ways to get under player's skin, its hockey, whiners better stop whining about him and just ignore him if they don't like him, idiots just give Avery too much attention and he likes it. Tortellini hated him and said he doesnt deserve to play in the NHL, look at him now, running after Avery desparately.

MikeL's picture
I found this extremely comical: "Sources tell TSN the Toronto Maple Leafs will resume discussions this morning in an effort to resign forward Dominic Moore. The Leafs made a counter offer Monday, however sources say that offer was well below what Moore considers to be his bottom line, believed to be between $2.5 and 3 million per season." Moore wants 3 million a year?!?!? Is he crazy? He was claimed off waivers last year for god sakes, and the only reason his numbers are good is because the Leafs are pathetic and he gets first line minutes, along with PP time. Just thought I'd pass this along, because I don't think I've ever seen a player overrate themselves like this.

Dintrox's picture
remember jeff finger :D moore is better ;p

likehoy's picture
he's having a breakout year on a crappy team showing some playmaking ability. he's 4th in team scoring...trying to get that big pay day before the economic crisis hits the NHL. - does carbo bargain for the right Price before games?

Tangy/Koivu/Andre Pac/plek/kovalev Lats/Laps/kosto Stewy/Metro/Laraque In my opinion we need to get a bigger and stronger fourth line center. (Higgins/Dandenault as bait?)

oshawahabsfan's picture
Yes Andrei needs to play on the right wing, he is so much more dangerous. He likes to shoot so he needs to be able to cut in which works much better when playing on your off wing.

Harani's picture
How does Ian Laperriere sound?

Led's picture
Great! He is the type of player we need. The kind that can show the rest of the team how to play tough and how to stand up for your team-mates. If Bob got him and a dependable, physical, stay-at-home defenseman I would be happy.

likehoy's picture
bob cole won't like it. - does carbo bargain for the right Price before games?

Nice lines. But if Carbo moves AK46 off the Pleks line, everyone will scream about how he doesn't keep the lines intact. Not that it should stop him ... just saying.

Habs killer Vanek plays on Wednesday!

likehoy's picture
he's also a sabres killer with his 7 million per year contract. buffalo's going to want it more...1 point back from 8th. - does carbo bargain for the right Price before games?

badbalance's picture
He is more likely a Sabres saviour, without his goals Sabres would have no stars and would prolly be in like 14th place now

Bill's picture
They're still missing Miller, though, right?

Steiner's picture
Indefinitely, I believe.

Will Longlade's picture
Hey Mike, someone may have answered this question already, but what's the scoop on Higgins missing practice yesterday? When all is said and done this week I think the Habs will subtract Dandy and add Antropov & a D-man. Big Nik, the perennial underachiever, will have a chance to re-write the book on himself. Could be a good news story for the Habs and Nik.

Mike Boone's picture
Higgins didn't miss practice. He started late after an equipment adjustment

Will Longlade's picture
Thanks. I was dreading the fact he may be traded.

Ian G Cobb's picture
That is a fantastic looking Dandeneauld Mike! My computer froze up for a couple of days but by putting up his picture at the top of this page, we are not frozen any more. Thanks.

TSN.ca Deadline Text Messaging reports: Niklas Backstrom, signed with Wild... four year contract, 6 mil per. Sean Avery picked up on waivers by NYR (but we all knew that would happen).

Bill's picture
Yeah, love those text alerts! Six million per for Backstrom, wow! No "declining salary cap" worries there. He has been awesome though, great numbers, albeit on a Jacques Lemaire team. LOL at the Rangers ... they can't score, and they make getting Avery back their top priority of the year. Yeah. That'll help.

Bill's picture
Vicky Christina was ... well, it was okay. Pretty good even, but I didn't really love it. I'm a huge fan of Woody Allen, as well as Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, and especially Scarlett Johansson, so maybe I was expecting too much? I guess the story didn't do much for me. Two love triangles ... it didn't keep me in a lot of suspense. And ... well, I don't want to go all frat-boy here, but in a movie that has Penelope and Scarlett as lovers, I would like to see a little more, uh, action. It was pretty tame. Great performances, beautiful setting, awesome music ... but in the end it was a bit of a letdown. Kind of like the trade deadline with Bob! (To bring it back to hockey).

The movie was weak, just like our coaching.

I think it's very much about expectations... if this movie had not been Woody Allen, I probably would have thought it was great. As it stands, because I was expecting something awesome (2 of my favorite actresses, movie by Woody Allen!) I was a bit disappointed. It's still a very good movie though. And Penelope deserves her Oscar for that role.

Bill's picture
Yeah, it was a different side of her. Very fun role. She is great, but her Oscar speech was ... total snooze! One of the lamer ones in any year!

Harani's picture
I had a dream that we traded Higgins, O'Byrne and a pick for Jokinen and Morris. I was in class and my friend sent me a text...and my phone rang when I was in class and knowing it was some trade, I just walked out of class. It was hilarious. I at least hope something happens!

Bill's picture
I had a similar dream about the Habs trading D'Agostini for Crosby. I was dreaming in technicolor, obviously.

shadi's picture
Sorry, what did you say Boone? Penelope is beautiful. Damn.

Penelope just might be making lattes when you live-blog but they're probably for Javier, not you! ;)
