Smack Phil Kessel.
Smack him early and smack him hard.
Kessel has the rep of being a soft player. It's time to test his mettle.
It's also time to make the Canadiens zone a hazardous area for Bruins skaters. While Zdeno Chara and Aaron Ward have been happily mugging Alex Kovalev and Andrei Kostitsyn, fancy skaters like Kessel, David Krecji and Vladimir Sobotka have zipped around Carey Price like it's the f.ing Ice Capades.
There's not a lot you can do when Milan Lucic goes to the net. But Canadiens have to make the lightweights pay the price.
BREAK
KESSELS
NECK
(or his one good testicle)
not cool
Pound the crap out of all of them.
Excuse me for my ignorance, but who, pray tell, is Mitch Melnick? Here in Cape Breton, this dude is an absolute no name. Although he's right when he suggested Kessel should be hammered every time he touches the puck.
I posted the same thing 2 games ago, focus our hits on guys like kessel, sturm, savard etc. The guys who are actually hurting us where it hurts most, on the score board.
My sentiments exactly. Trouble is Latendresse and O'Bryne, who can both throw the hits, are scratching their arses in the press box tonight. I thought they were out-hit and out-muscled badly enough in their last game. This move could prove to be costly.
I hope I'm wrong...
I think this is a be bigger then the guys your bigger then and dont back down from the guys that are bigger then you kind of philosophy (I wouldnt say we are the biggest team, but for our size we are probably one of the tougher teams.. when we want to be). Not necessarily about chasing guys around the rink, but something akin to the effort they put in the first 2 periods of game 1. one thing you cant do is get angry when you get hit, I used to get knocked around a lot when I played football as a running back and I cant tell you how many times I got a reaction out of the opposing team because they couldn't get a reaction out of me. Chara hits you? Smile at him, that will send him off his game more then a meaningless cross-check. Hell I've even lost all feeling in my arm a few times, I just told our QB (RIP Kristen Pipe, if you want to learn something about being tough go look up his story) not to run me and I could hit with the other shoulder. I know this sounds very e-tough, but the parallels are there; can't just play tough, but play tougher.
AAAGH still 2.5 hours to go....
after struggling with the embedded code here (link kept sending me right back to HIO even though this was the address) http://www.vaniercollege.qc.ca/athletics/Kristin_Pipe/Gaz10.html
well that killed 30 mins
Theoretically, that's a good idea. But who's going to do the hitting? Breezer? Streit? Markov? Dandy? Komo's busy with the dastardly Lucic for most of the night. Bouillon's trying, but he's not quite back up to game speed. And the Smolinski, Kostopoulos, Begin line is busy trying to create some offence. If the scorers score, the checking line will be free to do its thing, rather than trying to do everyone else's job.
I don't care how the hell they do it...if Breezer or Kovalev puts the puck in the net. I just want more bloody goals on our side of the ledger when it's over. I'm not really expecting it, but that's what I want to see.

MIKE BOONE!! sorry for th caps...had to attract your attention....i want you to do something for all of us today....be OPTIMISTIC!!! JUST FOR ONCE....what the hell....whats the worst that can come of it....we already lost with pessimism....maybe optimism will kick us into the previously unforeseen, widely feared, 86-reminiscent CHAMPIONSHIP MODE!!!
And none of us are in the least superstitious. But just to be on the safe side, got the t-shirt under the jersey and wrapped up in the Habs blanket, watching out for THE TIE.
GO HABS GO!
You gave me a good chuckle with that one. : )
1. www.flickeringpictures.com - not a hockey site, but still kinda neat
2. Josh Gorges on Montreal's attack: "They're comin', they're comin' and they keep comin'. Just line after line, wave after wave..."
nooo wayyyy....ganngsstaaas - fogell
cautious OPTIMIST commented on my optimism post.....a sign?? i thnk so folks....
boone has his style...and fretting is it.
respect.
Canadiens have to bring the pain tonight. I'm hoping some grinders turn on the gears and focus simply on hard-ass checks. That would show the Bruins they can't push us around tonight.
