This just in from the golden west ...:

TripleX writes:

Maybe put Cammy with our best setup man Pleks?  They have created majic before when united.  I love the heart of Metro but Cammy is wasted on his line.

BGL and Lats?   The less said the better.

ps.  Why do the Habs always look like crap when they are on Alberta broadcasts?  It makes it really hard to defend why I love the Habs.

Overheard in the press loo:

First former NHLer: "I can't believe Laraque was out there."

Second former NHLer; "What can Martin do? He's got no players."

2P Break:

2P 19:00:

A briefly exciting PP

2P 20:00:

Booing the refs? Please.

Good post:

From zozotheclown:

The worst parts of this are that we started off so well and we'll be exausted for the rest of the game. Both teams played the night before, but penalty killing is absolutely exausting while PP's are just relaxing physically. This team is going to have to dig really deep to try and come back, but its still possible, gotta make it 2-1 or better this period for sure.

Paul Mara:

Nine minutes ToI ... plus two in the box

1P 2:03:

Shots are 15-3

1P 2:44:

Crowd loves the PK. They're getting plenty of it.

1P 4:16:

Oh, c'mon. They are aware these are the Detroit Red Wings, right? Another 5-on-3

1P Break:

Moen for roughing. Hey, some discipline, guys! Sheesh.

Timeout:

This one is slipping away.

1P 5:18:

Tic-tac-toe. Datsyuk redirects. 2-0

1P 6:00:

Mazing if it stays 1-0. Shots: 12-3

1P 6:53:

5-on-3 against these guys? Yikes!

1P 7:19:

Arrrgh! Finally, on a Leino deflection. Damn you, Jay! 1-0 But they say Brad Stuart

1P 8:50:

Unreal PK

1P 11:08:

Six-minute kill. Good luck

1P 11:08:

Really dirty. BGL on a delayed call, gets his knee out on Kronwall. Nine-minute PP?

1P 12:00:

Shots are 6-2 ... and it does indicate advantage

1P 13:0:

AK46 takes a big hit, makes play. He might be back

1P Break:

Shots are 4-2 Detroit but that doesn't tell the story territorially. Very nice start for the Canadiens. But the forecheck could cause problems if the Wings can do it for 60 minutes.

1P 14:00:

Metro lights up the fourth-liners

1P 15:27:

Big hit by White. Crowd loved it

1P 17:00:

Here comes that two-man forecheck

1P 18:30:

Ouch! Helm laid a big lick on White

1P 18:51:

First shot is a Holmstrom swat that looked dangerous

1P 19:30:

Great start. Chances

1P 20:00:

Considering injuries to key people, and a few guys not contributing, the majority of the team worked diligently and got rewarded for their efforts. Hammer and Gorges were especially heroic on D, Price looked solid in net, and as a team, they deserved the comeback from being down 2-0.

I too look for Sergei to get his call-up....sometimes injuries have a way of making all the pieces fit i.e. Pyatt and White. It is looking more likely that a few of the players who started the season as Habs, won't be Habs in the 2nd half.

I still miss Danny Gallivan.

No shame boys, No shame!!! Losing to one of the leagues best teams in a shootout after being down 2-0, great effort, well done! If it wasn't for that frickin' loser Laraque screwing us with his bozo penalties, we win this game. We had a great start and he kills our momentum. When are we finally going to be rid of that big useless dope! Our team is decimated with injuries right now, and they are showing more and more character with each game. Keep going boys, these kind of efforts will eventually get rewarded and the bounces will come your way! The Cammy, Pleks, AK 46 line looks like a keeper!

GO HABS GO!!!

THE ROCK's picture

The only reason GL was dressed was because of Martini & Gainey

Also, the Wings threatened to throw baby seals on the Bell Center ice.

C-Dawg's picture

BGL thought it was a playoff game and was here to save the Octopus the Wings throw on the ice every season.

sidhu's picture

OB: if we had been more disciplined and played 5-on-5, we'd have the two points.

In other words, thanks a lot BGL!

I still am at a loss to understand why Martin chose to dress him against the Caps and the Wings.

THE ROCK's picture

Finally someone agrees...

twocents's picture

Subban wins it in OT!

Carle gets a 4th point, including 2 goals.

likehoy's picture

the NHL must have given him confidence, that's what i like to see. a player returning to the AHL and performing well.

- blame bias benoit brunet.

twocents's picture

You know, even before tonight's game he had the best point per game of any of the D down there. Better than Weber or Subban.

andrewberkshire's picture

Nice to see him explode offensively tonight though. He must be near a point per game after a 4 point night. Carle has really impressed me this year so far, I really hope he doesn't get traded. I'd love to see our defense in 2-3 years consist of Subban, Markov, O'Byrne, Carle, Weber, Belle, and Gorges. Sounds really solid once they all develop!

Weber...now there's a guy that could use some confidence.

Ayan_SB's picture

The Habs would've won tonight if it weren't for Laraque, and I'm not talking about his penalty. I'm talking about The System. The System does not recognize Laraque and it was not created it him in mind. With Laraque playing, the System is not in full force. Nonetheless, all hail The System.

Laraque is an affront to The System. And, this is what can happen when you show it so little respect.

likehoy's picture

laraque is a glitch in the matrix, he's the one.

- blame bias benoit brunet.

Ayan_SB's picture

Laraque's lack of faith disturbs The System.

G-Man's picture

1 point with a depleted roster against a great team and all I see are the usual negative b.s. comments. They came back from 2 down against one of the best shutdown teams ever, but all you see are the mistakes. Pathetic, really.

likehoy's picture

how can you turn a loss into a win without seeing the negatives?

- blame bias benoit brunet.

loser point! lol

yogi and boo boo for lats and laps is the best I have heard yet......that was good! I honestly laughed out loud!

Ayan_SB's picture

If you're talking about my post, yes, you're welcome.

Yep, it's time to send both of them to Jellystone National Park!

yapierre is good but man...yogi and boo boo....too perfect ....i can't even think about it without chuckling....

Is Bergeron "huckleberry hound"?

That would make Perezhogin El Kabong.

lol......i might have to watch some teletoon retro tonight

Exit716's picture

I wish Laraque had kept his earlier promises to never play in Montreal.

A totally useless player that won't fight, can't play and eats up valuable cap space.

Gainey has no choice but to demote him to Hamilton for the duration of the contract.

A buy out isn't an option.

For every decent move Gainey makes, there are ones like Tubby the vegan or Samsonov that are absolutely horrid.

Tubby cost the Habs the game.

He adds nothing and unless he's demoted will cost the team a decent asset like Plekanec.

Gainey has to admit defeat and get rid of this useless, has-been loser.

BGL has typical Brébeuf attitude: I'm special, give me money for no work and f off

Exit716's picture

He really needs to be demoted.

If I'm Geoff Molson, I can look at it this way.

I can eat the $1.5 million salary and maybe squeak into the playoffs where the home games will generate that much or more in profits, or I can keep the useless bum on the major league roster and have no playoffs at all.

Nahlsy's picture

Well at least it was Kronwall that was taken off. If it's going to be someone, it may as well be one of the most notorious cheap shot artists in the game right?  Lord knows Kronwall's taken out more than his share of guys with 'questionable' hits.

SeriousFan09's picture

That was kinda my thought, stupid, dirty shot that Laraque shouldn't have taken, but at the same time it was a wee bit of Karma on Kronwall.

- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

Nahlsy's picture

I REALLY liked the whallop White laid on him earlier though.

Am I the only one who thinks that Latendresse looks befuddled on every shift?

G-Man's picture

No, there are plenty who are as befuddled. Just not every shift.

_________________________________________________________________________

Beliveau- his legend is 600' tall and growing...

twocents's picture

He is regressing.

The bigger mystery to me is Lapierre. He isn't even skating like he usually does.

Do these guys miss Carbonneau that much?

SeriousFan09's picture

Lapierre's the huge mystery, while Gui has always been a bit indecisive about what kind of game he was going to play on any night, Lapierre basically busted his *** for the whole 08-09 season to be a regular player, kill off penalties, get SH goals, do whatever the team needed him to do and even played with energy when the whole team had given up and now? He's Lats but without the RDS specials comparing him to Lafleur.

Did he figure one hard season and that was it to stay on the Club? JM needs to send a message by scratching them but these injuries have handcuffed him on that account until Gionta and Gomez are back.

- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

I don't mind Lats as much as most....I think in an ideal world he is still playing on a fourth line with occasional promotions (when he is on a hotter streak)for this year......Laps bothers me more...his seems to be a lack of effort more so than a guy just not yet mastering the use of his large frame....Laps is NOT skating and I got lambasted on here a while back for mentioning it.....his starting and short burst is completely AWOL and it is usually his strongest and most noticeable strength.

likehoy's picture

he's just not moving his feet, which are his best asset and it's frustrating to watch!

i wonder if there's something going on his life distracting him...like building a new house (if anyone watched that french tv series last year...).

- blame bias benoit brunet.

imagine being  Chips.....all the heart in the world and would give anything to have Laps wheels.....and Laps is the guy who pretty well stole his career from him.....what Chips wouldn't give to have Laps tool box

likehoy's picture

it's unfortunate but i doubt we could even trade chips anymore...his value is so low at the moment...but with the emergence of white and pyatt, i wouldn't be opposed to sending lapierre off in a package deal for a top 6 forward come trade deadline time.

- blame bias benoit brunet.

21BIGGionta's picture

He looks like a bear who just woke up after a long winter.

Latendresse and Lapierre = Yogi Bear and Booboo.

I am lobbying to change ak46's nickname  to Andrei Coldtitsin...once it gets a bit nipply out he really starts perkin up

pretty good, i like it.

Ayan_SB's picture

Habs are 3 points behind Buffalo for not only the divisional lead, but the 3rd spot in the East.

Les Habitants's picture

When and IF we get healthy how does Gainey justify sending down Pyatt and White and paying The La-Las?

The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!

Exit716's picture

Laraque is done in Montreal.

That's what you do.

You demote that useless POS.

Ayan_SB's picture

I really don't believe the Habs can send down Pyatt and White based on the way they're playing right now.

They're both out there working hard, playing defense, forechecking, and killing PKs. White can hit, as we've seen tonight and Pyatt can skate.  They've essentially taken Lapierre and Latendresse's jobs.

This is the Time On Ice from tonight:

Gui - 05:30

Lapierre - 10:58

White - 11:03

Pyatt: 17:30 (!)

Les Habitants's picture

Lets hope Bob sees it the same way we do

The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!

habs-hampton's picture

When Gomez and Gio are back, the La-La's are in for a big surprise!

Harditya_CareyPrice's picture

Price is 4-2-1 in last 7, with a save percentaeg of .941 and a GAA of 1.94 over that span. His GAA has went down to 2.84 from 3.50ish and his percentage now is .911.

YESS CAREY!

Cammalleri on pace for a 39 goal season. Kostitsyn has 4 points in last 3 games. Plekanec now has 22 points in 23 games (same as Crosby) with 8 in last 5 games.

21BIGGionta's picture

Pleks is just...awesome New fave ...well while Gionta is out then it will be a tie

"one win, plan the parade; one loss, tie the noose. It’s super-emotional, it’s completely irrational, but that’s what makes it so glorious." - George Stroumboulopoulos

Dayum, looks like this team is finally gelling.

I wished we didn't have so many injuries though.

Hammer's picture

Saw bits of the game and almost cried when Laps shot the puck over the glass. Mind you, it was the hardest shot I have seen him take all year!!!

Ayan_SB's picture

I wonder if Latendresse asked Holmstom for an autograph tonight

Les Habitants's picture

If JM compares GUI! to holmstrom anymore this year I'm gona puke!!

The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!

You can tell Lats what he needs to do to be successful in this League, but he won't do it. He really does think that he is the second coming of Lafleur. I am convinced that he is just waiting for Quebec to get a team so he can be a Nordique.

Les Habitants's picture

Let start a petition to bring back the nordiques!

The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!

Ayan_SB's picture

I'm sure Michel Bergeron's been trying that for a decade.

Personally, I miss the Nordiques and the Whalers for that matter. Bring back to old Adams Division!

Willy the bum's picture

Heard a many great things about a nice comeback... too bad they lost - in a shootout, sadly - but a deserved point out of that game.

First the Caps, then the Red Wings, the Habs are beginning to play much better!  Despite the injury list, what's stopping them now?

Metropolit's Fu Manchu moustache are in, like Roy's mullet for the 90s

linp's picture

Lapierre and Latendresse are playing really terrible. I think they are feeling the pressure from Pyatt and White who out-played them by a wide margin.

Clay4bc's picture

You'd think that they would respond to the pressure with some grit and determination, and a strong effort. But, sadly, just the oppisite is what we see from them.

21BIGGionta's picture

i think Lats thinks that he has the french advantage on his side still

i was at work so couldnt catch the game.. how was price

Very solid, he wished he could have been better in the shootout but hey, it was Datsyuk and Zetterberg, they're not scrubs ;)

habs-hampton's picture

Price was solid. Neither 1st period goal his fault. A lille unluck on Datsuks SO  goal. He looked very comfortable all night, and his team has faith in him, you can see it.

21BIGGionta's picture

He played very well ! and if THE ROCK responds...ignore him

THE ROCK's picture

Yes Price played GREAT but not in this shootout.....

He played well. He got beat by Datsyuk and Zetterberg in the SO. As EBK posted, without him Pleks, Cammy and AK, they get waxed in regulation.

Ayan_SB's picture

By the way, those were the first shootout goals allowed by the Habs, in their 5th shootout game. If anybody was gonna score them, it was gonna be Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

21BIGGionta's picture

Agreed i don't know why people aren't still proud of our Perfect OT record :)

so...if gomez is out a while....and bgl is likely suspened for a while (I would suspect hets at least 3 games), chips and Lats are firmly in the doghouse ....who gets the call? Do we actually call Sergei up? Maxwell? Both?

MikeL's picture

Really no other options, eh? With his brother finally going, I'm not sure if it would be a good move, or a bad move to bring up his brother. I can see both scenerios coming to fruition.

twocents's picture

Sergei has 3 points tonight in Manitoba. So does Carle.

Sergei is 16 points in 17 games.

this is about the time of year he injected some life into us a couple years ago......might be a good time for the organization to call him without losing face too......3 point night, brother already playing well, in the midst of a decent stretch,BGL likely suspended, gomez out and not likely around to pick a fight with him lol.....this could finally be the "right time" from the organizations standpoint without appearing to have caved or made the move completely out of desperation

twocents's picture

Make it so.

just clicked my heels three times, waved my wand and yelled " I love peanut butter sandwiches" several times....consider it done......and you're welcome

powerplay points too! for sergei.

Top Corner's picture

Great comeback!!!!  They made it fun to watch in the 3rd anyways!!!!

We got a point (3 in two nights!!!!)when it looked like we would be shut out at home.....sweet

Our younger  players are stepping up finally (WHITE HAD SOME HARD HITS TONIGHT) and considering BGL was high on crack in the 1st and totally lost his ***.....iam happy with the recovery by CAMMALLERI and Price

OLAY

GO HABS GO

"....and considering BGL was high on crack in the 1st and totally lost his ***..."

brysonom's picture

great come back....hope thats the last time we have to watch BGL in a habs uni...not just those nice blue jerseys, but any habs jersey

Vid's picture

Let's hope neither Cammy or Pleks get injured...that's pretty much all our offense there and will probably remain like that for a good amount of time.

To think there were ppl who doubted Cammaleri could continue his scoring ways without Iginla.  This guy is our offensive superstar.

BGL is the only player on the roster who's ineptitude could twart The System. Aren't there some seals in Montreal he could guard?

THE ROCK's picture

Why can't Martini just admit he made a mistake by play GL....

ooder's picture

get a life... seriosuly... you  bash martin for that.. but how about crediting him for the comeback...

or is he only responsible when something goes wrong, and not when something goes right?

or are you as smart as your avater and can't think of anything esle to post?
