D'Ag tried to give Cammalleri a fourth
3P 8:00:
"Hey-hey-goodbye!"
3P Break:
On the board: Chris Berman, en français

Props to the PK. Amazing tonight
3P 9:09:
Gorges is furious for some reason.
3P 10:08:
I'm not a ref basher, but this is crap.
3P 10:20:
Four Canadiens in the box
3P 10:20:
Price is SO INTO IT!
3P 11:23:
Man. 5-on-3 for 1:26
3P 13:57:
Not smart. O-zone penalty, late in the shift. Max will never make the Mensa team.

Sobotka clobbers Gorges, redirects Hunwick shot from the point 5-1
3P 15:27:
Max-Pac is just excellent tonight
3P 16:40:
Pad save on Thornton. Price is very sharp.
3P 18:00:
Gomez, D'Ag and Cammalleri
3P 18:50:
Building is dead. It's been almost four hours
3P 20:00:
No Sergei. But I saw Pouliot in the hot dog line
3P 20:00:
20 minutes of good disciplined hockey. Chip it deep, let them skate. The Bruins are slow.
2P 00:00:
Pinch me, I'm dreaming
2P 1:00:

That's a week's output

Thornton landed on Sergei's knee. Looked bad
2P Break:
I really like Gomez and SK74. Two clever players, great passers

2P 7:36:
Bad dump-in turns into icing.
2P Break:
Shots are 11-6, but Canadiens are getting chances. Skating miles tonight

Cammalleri. Great work by POleks and AK46 2-0
2P 12:15:
Heroic. Place is going berserk
2P 14:26:
Idiotic penalty to Lapierre. In a 1-0 game. Brutal. And it's a 5-on-3 for two minutes
2p 2P 15:45:
Price getting shelled. They'll score if this keeps up.
2P 17:45:
Pacioretty looking good

Bad start. Icing under pressure
Ryder:
Four of Boston's eight shots. 10 players have one each for the Canadiens
2P 20:00:
Lâche-pas, les boys
Stats:
Pleks 2-2 on draws, but one of the wins was on the PP, which has been a rarity. I counted two AK46 giveaways, but they don't show up on the scoresheet for some reason.
1P 1:00:
Not a great PP for Gomez
1P2:50:
Brilliant PK. And a PP.
1P 4:00:
Gomez and Sergei on the PK
1P Break:

Building darkens:
With the voices of René Lecavalier, Danny Gallivan, Claude Mouton, *** Irvin, Roger Doucet
Counting down on the scoreboard:
Must-win?:
That's the consensus. At minimum, show up. Because if they play like they did in Buffalo, it's going to get UGLY in here.
Ceremonies:
To start at 6:15. All the media people wolfed down dinner thinking it would be 5:45. If we have heartburn, it's the team's fault.
Markov:
Skated in light drills this morning.
Dryden:
On skates, in gear tonight
Butch honoured:
François Gagnon reports they'll retire Emile Bouchard's number 3 tonight. And Elmer Lach will join Henri Richard as honourees for number 16. I know I'm late with this, but I was stuck in traffic.
Calm before the storm:
A few people in the stands. Bono singing about peace on earth. Nice.
sorry for the late post, but just had to say that was a truly wonderful night. if I never get to go to another game, i'll be happy. got autographs from Gordie Howe and Ken Dryden, and even a wave from Chantal Maccabe (we were sitting in front of the RDS loge). i'm sure Boone has already commented on her lovely outfit. i will always remember this game, i hope. the noise level was unbelievable. it's been a long time since i had goosebumps like that.
it's like falling in love all over again.
GO HABS GO
Most of us have been calling for these lines all year.Wake up J.M
Dag's can be another Ryder. He's still very raw
I think Sergei is better than Andrei, especially for the future
Max Pac has a great future, but may hit the rookie wall later this year.Patience.Also showed the vets what happens when you got to the net and STAY there
Pouliot should replace Laps.
Gill is solid when played right
Price needs to play like last night ALL the time.If he didn't make those great saves early,it could have been different outcome
BGL kept the b's calm when the game got out of hand.
Best game I've seen since 07-08 playoffs
I thought it was extremely cool and classy of Gordie Howe to come out with the Rocket's jersey and flash it around.
+1 in my books
http://snsimages.tribune.com/media/photo/2009-12/50892998.jpg
Other highlights for me:
Viggo's awesome intro
And seeing Roy again in full goalie gear with "The Mask" - WOW!
I fell in love with MTL all over again
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
AK46 - Plecs - SK74
That was awesome...would have loved to see Saku Koivu out there (and Chelios). Great to see Breezer....loved seeing Patrick Roy...
No one does it better than the Habs.....that is why we keep coming back for more....
I thought it was very nice of the Montreal Canadiens organization to invite Viggo Mortensen. I've been a fan of him since Lord the Rings, but he's shown that he's a very capable actor in his roles in A History of Violence and Eastern Promises.
It was also very cool to see a Hollywood star be so humbled around such great hockey players, and tonight, he was just another fan.
What a game, hope the momentum continues, Go Habs!
Biggest win of the year by far. It's great to see such a team effort. Tonight was as close to a must-win as you get. Cammy and Price played amazing. Gill on the PK, that's his bread and butter, with his 7 foot stick blocking lanes. Hopefully we can get some momentum from this win.
that was legen... wait for it... dairy!

Kovalev [ka-va-leov]: A player who makes you jump out of your seat with a wicked deke or a sick shot and makes you say: "Did you see that!!"
the habs SUITED UP for tonight
(both of these comments are on my fb already :P haha)
- let's make it a triple crown: Impacts, Alouettes and now the Canadiens!
yeah you did!
That was a helluva ceremony and game. One word.....AWESOME
Losers Even After Forty two Seasons
THESE are the MONTREAL CANADIENS... this is the REASON. Bad games, good games, awful games, amazing games, near misses, blowouts, the sad, the mad, the elation, the buzz... this is why Montreal Canadiens hockey has been in my blood since running up and down Lazard Ave, in the Town of Mount Royal when I was 8 years old in 1972 with a hairy wet beautiful tennis ball suddenly christened a hockey puck in Game 7...
great game through and through, the players loved the presence of the all time greats...but it makes you wonder if some of our recent former habs kept an eye on this day?
such as komi, ribs, higgins, latendresse, chipchura...do you think they're disappointed they were so close to the celebrations yet so far? or could they care less?
if it were me and i just left the organization before this tremendous night, i would be very disappointed i couldn't have been part of something so special.
- let's make it a triple crown: Impacts, Alouettes and now the Canadiens!
Chips definately disappointed,Komi maybe,Lats for selfish reasons.
Gill was HUGE on those PK's, and not counting the rest of the night, imo. good to have you back, Hal.
As great as Gill was tonight, I think Price robbing Marco Sturm on the PK breakaway was the turning point of the game.

What a ceremony, what a game.
Price played like a budding superstar, Cammy played like the offensive star we've missed for years.
Heroic effort by our D and the PKers.
I agree with the HNIC broadcaster who said this was the best game of Max Power's career.
Tonight was an opportunity for the 09-10 Habs to "re-start" their season. What a great start to their "new" season and to the next 100 years of our beloved franchise.
Go Habs Go!!!!!!!!!!
:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
LOL sorry...had to do that
"Montreal winger Sergei Kostitsyn left the game in the second period with a knee injury, but said later he felt OK and did not expect to miss any games. Coach Jacques Martin said more would be known on the injury when Kostitsyn is examined on Saturday."

That's a big relief! However I've found from experience that when you injure say, a tendon by twisting something harshly like SK74 did, you have initial pain that fades that day, but the next day you're crippled. I did something similar with my ankle two years ago and I was fine that night but couldn't even stand up the next day.

well... i sure hope sergei really will be fine... that kid has been playing some inspired hockey latetly.
suck about your ankle though

Kovalev [ka-va-leov]: A player who makes you jump out of your seat with a wicked deke or a sick shot and makes you say: "Did you see that!!"
I really hope so, because you're right, he's been playing excellent.
My ankle was a bad one, so I doubt it's that bad. It took over a year to not have pain every day, and still if I slightly roll it I'm hobbled. Sucks, but what can you do?

his range of passing is unreal...i believe in 2 or 3 years...he would be a top 10 passer in the league..i strongly believe his accuracy in passing is better than plekanec or gomez at the moment...his passes are harder, more accurate, and have a better range...i feel gomez and plekanec take a few more risks with their passes than sergei does so though.
- let's make it a triple crown: Impacts, Alouettes and now the Canadiens!
Completely agree with everything you've said here. Sergei's passing to me is very similar to Tanguay, only he's better at a much younger age. I have a feeling that if he sticks on a line with Gomez and Gionta he's going to be gold. Can you imagine Gomez and SK74 setting up Gionta one-timers?
__________________________________________
http://berkshireonthehabs.blogspot.com/
what i like about sergei more thne tanguay... is that sergei has got way moer attitude and an edge.
he plays the game like it should be played... and isn't scared of anybody

Kovalev [ka-va-leov]: A player who makes you jump out of your seat with a wicked deke or a sick shot and makes you say: "Did you see that!!"
Agreed on that too, Sergei is afraid of no one, and willing to play dirty if he has too. Love that in a player of his talent. If he could add a bit more muscle to his frame as he matures physically he's going to dominate.

People that hate Hal Gill are just jealous of his height! In all seriousness hes a great penalty killer and if you can limit his time 5 on 5 he can be very useful.
WOW......fantastic night starting with the parade of former Habs to a great team effort on the ice. The Habs are like the Yankees..they both parade former great players in front of the newbies and it has to stir emotion in the players and get them pumped to perform to the max. The gathering of everybody for the picture was spine-tingling and I'm certain that picture with be history making. Everybody who ever called themselves a fan of Les Canadiens will want a copy.
Tonight it was a great team effort. Besides the obvious play of Carey and Cammalleri, let's applaud Gorges and Gill for their work on the 5-3 powerplays. MaxPac was hustling all night and his puck handling is coming much better. MAB was fine as a forward and unlike a few others, he likes to shoot at the net. OB, as #20, also worked hard all night. Must have been a great pre-game speech by Jacques.
I still miss Danny Gallivan.
The amazing : EVERYTHING
The bad: some idiots booed Gainey. Booing a Canadiens great at the Centennial game? Come on. Glad the cheers took over.
i was going to ask if that happened. As much as i want him gone as a G.M,you have to be sick in the head to boo anyone during the ceremonies. Hopefullysomeone beat the crap out of whoever did that.
great effort but lets not get too excited...we have won very few games where the few scorers we have dont contribute...we need other forwards to score
When Cammalleri got the hat trick I believe, I saw him looking behind and Gorges came up first to him..cheering him on and hugging him. Very happy to see that..
Happy Birthday Habs :)
Thank you Habs...thank you. I don't care what happens now...I just blew my load...what a night!
"You miss 100% of the shots you never take.” - Wayne Gretzky
dID YOU ALL SEE gILL WITH HIS FACE ON THE ICE LAYIN THERE IN HOPES OF BLOCKING A SHOT? THAT MAN KNOWS WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN, SO DOES MAX PAC.
i am stunned! brilliant game fella's! honey garlic svp!
“Talent is a gift from God, but you only succeed with hard work. Yvan was proof of that.” Jean Beliveau
Gainey's two best moves in the past four years. trading rivet for gorge and max pac, metro on waivers. Most improved player this year, max pac. I can smell 8th place!!
Max Pacioretty is only freshly turned 21 and he is improving with nearly every game.
Where are my sunglasses?
My Three Stars of highlighs on the night:
Third Star: Seeing Pacioretty's coming out party. There will be bumps along the road still, but that was one incredible game he played tonight.
Second Star: Seeing Mats Naslund in a Habs uniform again. Awesome enough to bring back the old avatar, at least for a while (apologies for Tre Kronor Mats, but others are using the pictures that can be found on the web).
First Star: Seeing Emile Bouchard and Elmer Lach get their due. Fantastic!
Only two more corrections to the historical oversight and we're ready to rock: re-co-retire Aurele Joliat's #4 (it was co-retired in 1984, but no longer hangs from the rafters) and retire Toe Blake's #6.
I thought of you right after seeing Mats and being so surprised and excited myself. I had forgotten how much he meant to me, seeing him was so great. As I said below, that and seeing so much of the late 70's team together again was truly special for me. Heck! the whole deal was amazing.
I agree on all your points. I remember seeing Joliat's name up there, strange the way that was handled.
Nice to see the avatar back, even just for a cameo.
BEST GAME I EVER WENT TO .. IM STILL SHAKING. IM SO PROUD TO BE A HABS FAN . THIS WAS THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE SO FAR. SO GREAT
"one win, plan the parade; one loss, tie the noose. It’s super-emotional, it’s completely irrational, but that’s what makes it so glorious." - George Stroumboulopoulos
am i drunk or did Timo write "go habs go"? maybe both?
played to their potential, played like it mattered, played with speed, played like a huge weight got lifted off their shoulders. Gill! Gomez! MaxPac! great effort all around.
BTW i called MAB as 12th fwd two weeks ago. won't take credit, but still...'Nuf said.
well deserved win. enjoy the weekend.
don't get hurtf patting yourself on the back about MAB. Everyone has been calling him to be on the 4th line ala streit, for the last 5-10 games. Those are the lines we need every night. Laps and/or BGL can sit depending on the opponent
Was *** Duff there tonight? i didn't see him, but missed the first portion of the ceremony
Key moment of the game had to be the 5 on 3 kill, followed by a goal. Turned the whole game around, and we never looked back. Great memory to keep - I think it will stick with me for a long time.

I remember, once again, why I've loved this team for nearly thirty years. It's a special thing.

Nice to see you J.T..
It feels like Christmas came early.
I've had my Christmas. Patrick Roy led the team out one more time. That's enough for me. I'm still choked up.
http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com
Seeing Patrick wear his gear and helmet gave me goosebumps for the entire time. I felt like I was 5 years old sitting 3 feet away from the tv on the floor. Amazing.

Wow Mike...you were there? Roy wasn't just cool...it destroyed me. That was emotional beyond belief. Tell me all about it!
http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com
For me it was seeing all the guys from the late seventies team together again. That and seeing Mats Naslund in the sweater once more.
Man! has this been an excellent night.
It seems Cammalleri and Price may understand what it means to be a Hab.
OH! Naslund and Mcphee and Screwie and Pepe...all the '86 guys. It's not often something overshadows a 5-1 thumping of the Bs, is it?
http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com
It was a feast with all the fixin's.
Amen to that. By the way great post today J.T.
Thanks! ;)
http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com
Who were those guys wearing the Habs' jerseys tonight, & where have they been? Expectations are now sky high again. Coaches tell players not to get too high after a win, nor too low after a loss. They have to keep an even keel. Obviously, this philosophy does not apply to fans. Let's hope that tonight is a promise of things to come, & not just some blip on our radar screen.
Now that's the way to win a game when the nation is watching and history is a spectator. Cammalleri and Price are gold.
I feel good.
You know what is odd? In the past few years, when the Habs are the national telecast whether on TSN or CBC...they always wet the bed...hopefully they put an end to that.
"Even Roy can be run out of town after 2 Stanley Cups."
I know, as I said below, this bodes well for the playoffs. These guys may be the types to elevate things when they really know it matters.
playoffs?? you're talking about playoffs??
go habs go!
Read my post below before jumping to conclusions.
Where was Mario Roberge and Andre Rasicot?
What about the great Patrick Traverse Darren Langdon and Normand Baron
Where was Mario Tremblay and why didn't he have a nice public hug with Patrick?
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
I woulda liked to see Corson and Chelios .
I would have loved to see Saku Koivu out there.
Maybe when he retires, we'll get to see him on such occasions.
I was thinking the same thing Slovak.
Chelios was taking it to some young whippersnappers in a game against the Lake Erie Monsters with the Chicago Wolves, he scored a goal for his team actually, in what I like to think is a little tribute of his own to the team that got him started in the NHL.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Wow, looks like I missed a great one! Glad you guys got to enjoy it. I'll catch it on Express, but it's not the same. Oh well, couldn't be helped. Saw the highlights, Price was unbelievable, and Cammalleri ... best shooter the Habs have had since Richer.
Full Breezer 4 Life
First and second star: Price and Cammalleri.
Lots of third stars tonight: Gill, Gorges, Pacioretty, Metropolit, Spacek, Hamrlik, Plekanec ..
That's what it takes to win - everyone shows up.
And I really liked Gomez and Sergei together. Hopefully Serg's all right!!
From TSN:
Mike Cammalleri made like Rocket Richard with three goals and Carey Price like Georges Vezina with a 37-save effort as the Montreal Canadiens celebrated their 100th anniversary with a 5-1 victory over the Boston Bruins on Friday night.
Do not discredit or declaim the significance of what we have witnessed over the last 4+ hours. The exercise was very significant, the curse is gone, the ghosts have returned, thanks to the sincere incantations and lamentations the glory has ensconsed itself once again into our highly religious mystery.
You may think this is a joke, a coincidence, a miracle, or some random act, but I tell you it is not.
in time you will see.
1.The N.A.G. (North American Grit) Youth Movement will bring us respect... 2.The NHL-Ref-Syndicate will do everything in its power to never allow the HABS (or the Leafs) to win another Stanley Cup. 3.Take it easy on the boys, they are going 110%.
