We need a Top 4 D & a horse centre.... but is a trade of Gillette for Balsillie also in the cards ? This G&M article paints a bleak picture of Gillette's finances and lends credence he may want/have to sell the Habs...
Gillette has always been a financial high-wire act, but in every other way he has been good for our Habs... Not so sure about Silly Balls (or is it Ballssilly ?) who seems more of a potential Mark Cuban type owner than the paternal hands-off supportive owner that Gillete has been...
Just hope this does not effect the Habs stability going forward...

For 45 minutes I enjoyed a strong defensive game by the Canadiens. I started wondering if they finally had adapted the habits of their coaching staff and began to remember the Roy era, when I used to get angry when they won games but gave up more than 2 goals.
And then within 1 minute I was slapped back into reality. It was fun while it lasted :)

Hey Guys, Its been awhile since I posted , but I'm always reading your coments. For what its worth I think this team will find its way very soon. The PP will come to life, and the team will go on a great streak. Weve got some issues right now , but they will be resolved. Hell, last 7 games we are 4-1-2 thats 10 points out of 14 not that bad, Have faith HAB FANS !!!
Hey 2 wins for acting assistant coach Mike Komisarek. The Habs will play better defensively once "BLOCKMAN" returns to the lineup. Atta Boy Mike!!! Keep the team in the game. Where was the time out to settle the team down?
I'm not gonna sit here and bash our team, but if I could just say one thing here...I understand that Carbo is trying to have 4 even lines that can all score goals so teams will have trouble containing them, but it's not working. I hated seeing Tanguay playing on the same line as Kostopolous, I don't even care if they play good together, this guy should be skating with our other stars and thats that.
What do people think of a line of Tanguay, Koivu and Andrei Kostitsyn? It's just about the only one that hasn't been tried yet and seems to make the most sense.

I agree.
He is trying to shake things up given that things are not rolling as they should, but I agree that we can easily have 3 lines of talent. I guess his thought process is to get the hard workers playing with the talent.

The "fans" on this site read and hear all the negatives the media spews and they run with it! Anyone happen to watch L'Antichambre last night? You would have swore the Habs lost 6-0! they had 1 bad minute! You could argue that the Thrashers fed off that and dominated a little for a few minutes afterwards, but it was our game.
Fact is, they are 4 points out of 1st, and I believe they will be in 1st after this homestand!

As long as we win fair and square, I don't care what the score is. And in spite of our ups and downs, we've been winning a lot: we're 14-6-4, people.

actually we're 14-10, brcause OT and overtime lkosses are still losses, and our wins to date are vs teams below 500. our record is NOT good, nor is our team. my guess ois as soon as we start playing good teams, our record will plummet below 500, unless Carbo is fired!
An overtime loss is essentially a loss in name only, since you still get a point from it, and you only lose one point to the other team.
In other words, you could have 82 overtime losses (ie: go 0-82) and still have an 82-point season.

you could theoreticaly lose every game of the regular season, squeak into the playoffs, have your goalie get hot all of a sudden and go all the way to the promised land. And THAT my friend is why the rules suck.
I am fine with that if it were to happen. There are 30 teams ....16 make the playoffs .....thinking logically .500 should qualify you as a good enough team to "squeak into the playoffs". Getting all of those tie points would make them a .500 team since in all reality it is a winner point and both teams have earned a point after 65 minutes. Then you factor in that the other team gets a point too and the required percentage goes up.....it will usually take around 92 or 93 pts to make the playoffs. I am fine with the OTL ...I think the fact they call it an OTL is where the problem is ....they should change the wording to RPT (Regulation Plus Tie). By inluding loss people view it as a loser point when in fact it is a bonus winner point being offered.
The OT system isn't as bad as the divisional leaders taking he top 3 seeds...that sucks.
Our record is 5 best in the nhl...we are 5th in the entire league so those losses you speak of that affect everybody.....ignore them. We have 32 points...5th...and we have yet to play anywhere near our best hockey.
apparently points the Habs get for SO and OT losses are less valid than those obtained by other teams.
for example, the 4 OT losses Boston has, are *real* OT losses, whereas ours are "fluke" and should just be losses. through some loophole which only the Habs are able to exploit, we get the 4 points. lucky us.

Good teams? You mean like Detroit who we walked all over?
SO losses are losses, but they are also just flukes that some idiot decided would be a good way to decide a tie.
4 on 4 for 5 minutes, then 3 on 3 for 5 minutes...I so wish!

Well, that "one bad minute" allowed 3 goals to be scored, and almost costs us to lose to one of the worst teams in the league.. It's the story of Montreal this year, we need to play a FULL 60 minute game, not 59..!!

Don't let "worst team in the league" blur your vision. they are all good teams. Detroit lost to Toronto.
*** happens, but when all was said and done, our Boys got the 2 points....and 59 minutes is a lot better than 20 or 40!

Agree.!! But when we play our “60 min game” we are UNSTOPABLE!!! Anything less will not win the cup..!
Trust me, if anything, I am happy to have the two points..!! Heck, so to hopefully avoid the 'December Curse' I actually splashed a little holy water on my jersey prior to the game..!!
ONCE A HAB, FOREVER A HAB!!!
that sounds familar ;)
i was very disappointed, not to mention, anxious during the last few minutes of a game i thought we were going to handily win. that being said, i maintain that:
* bottom line, we got 2 points
* it was a highly entertaining game filled with Matt D'Agostini's first NHL goal and, yes, a PP goal!
* had Tanguay's goal been allowed it would have been 4-0 at the end of the 2nd period which could have changed the complexion of the game going into the 3rd.
* i won't even mention the Hainsey goal. whatever. i guess i did. ;)
* Andre Kostitsyn played a heck of a game.

wow..!!! Laviolette fired today..!!! Maybe Carbo could use a little guidance from an experienced coach.. I like Carbo, but I still think his lack of experience will be the issue once the playoffs arrive..!

I love AK46's smart response to a stupid question here. Translated from cyberpresse:
When we asked him the question after his excellent performance, Brother Andrei pursed his lips and paused for several seconds while staring at the floor.
"If he's not playing well, maybe that's why the coach isn't playing him," the game's hero finally responded.
"Me, I'm just thinking about playing my game. I don't think about my brother when I play."

Red Fishers take on Pleks and AK is spot on. When these guys hustle they can beat a lot of good players. If the Habs do not resign Pleks it will be a travesty.
If the boys play all 60 minutes we will beat the Rangers and everyone else.
