ARRGGGHHH!!!! Just saw Carbo on TV saying that his players need to take these call-ups seriously. The guy is always so heavy handed. He seems to know nothing about motivation. You can't walk around with a chip on your shoulder and expect to motivate people. You need to carry the stick NOT BE the stick. I would like to think he'll work out... but my prediction is he'll be gone by January's end.

I'm hearing whispers that Olli Jokinen may become a Hab.

Blitzen's picture

You should see a doctor about that.

Every year, we expect Bob to make a big splash. I'm keeping my expectations on the low side of nonexistant this year.

TradeRyder's picture

I was going to say the same thing. My guess is the whispers are coming from inside his head.

But I have this feeling that a REAL trade is in the works. For a couple of reasons -
1. We have some REAL players to trade. Good depth in goal, some veteran players that may want to move, and a lot of promising younger talent.
2. Koivu may want to go to a contender, and if he does, no-one could say no.
3. Carbo is heavy-handed, and probably has someone surprising he wants to move. Markov even.
4. Everyone knows that we have been missing a top goal-scorer for EVER. And that no-one wins a championship without one. Bob tried this summer, he's still trying.

Tell yourself that we'll be trading Dandy for Randy Robitaille or something like that. That way you'll be less disappointed when the real trade is even worse than that one.

Wops...you tell em...LOL..I love when smart guys get put in their place !!!!!

T-roy West's picture

If there is to be a trade then you can be rest assured that Colorado will be involved at some point. They need goaltending in a bad way!

Cable Guy's picture

do you really think colorado will take another goalie from us? I doubt it after the Theo fiasco.

TradeRyder's picture

I can't see why that would bias them. They traded a goalie they didn't want for one we didn't want. Neither worked out. We have what they need. What do they have that we want? How about Sakic!

HotHabs's picture

Even if we were to pick up a top forward like Jokinen or Sakic, they would not thrive under the coaching of Carbo. The buck stops right there!!! NO system, no motivation, no creativity, no rapport = NO GOOD

Well, looks like a trade is in the process, you never bring up 2 players to put down one, especially when you already have two healthy scratches. Whatever the trade, Mtl is giving up 2 for 1 or 3 for 2. Gainy is smart, don't worry it will make sense in the end. I don’t see Chara coming here, why would we bring up O’Byrne who is another big D. I can honestly say it might involve Ryder + Goalie (Huet), yet don’t forget the Kovalev rumors to Calgary (I would hate that; he is carrying the team now). Whatever is going on it is simply going to happen for one reason TO WAKE UP THE TEAM.

linp's picture

I remember Carbo said after a loss: "I don't know what's wrong". That's our major problem. Carbo doesn't have experience of a winning system. When his team loses, he criticizes his players. He mixes the line. It causes confusions among the players. The passes were so horrible recently. There were no big hit on the board to gain control of the puck. Look at Baffalo. Their team lost their two best forwards. Lindy Ruff has a winning system. Their players know what to do. Bob should provide advises to Carbo in the background. If they can't turn it around, then it is time to find an experienced coach who knows what's wrong and how to fix it.

To Wops: First of all, who the hell is Dan Ryder ? You must certainly mean Michael Rider... You know, the guy that
plays for the Habs. Blog when your sober OK !

Salute

Wops's picture

Dude, take a chill pill

Dan Ryder is the younger brother of MICHAEL Ryder and was drafted in the third round (74 overall) by the Flames in 05.

Maybe you need a drink or something...

Salut

I think he means the younger Ryder in Calgary's farm system but the trade rumors are exactly that...just rumors!

Well, well, well !

Geez I wish we could go back 2-3- weeks. Exactly what I
said they should do; E-X-A-C-T-L-Y. I'm a fan of Grabs, but he's too small. Fast but ....... As for the rumor on
another blog. Well someone's got a PIPE. Try this :
Phaneuf - Ryder+goalie - Savard. I might not be RIGHT on,
but I'm freakin' close. You can also replace Savard by
Chara+tough guy. Do it NOW, before the Christmas blues.

As I am writing this, what's his face from J de M is
talking Koivu on RDS. Something's in the air! Love it..

Ottawa just won by the skin of their cohones vs Panthers.
Not convincing at all !

If somebody is ahead of me on this rumor, please let
everybody know.

Send Ray Emery to the minors ... Seriously !!!!!

Salute

PS. To abhishek: A lot of Bruins are gonna hit the ice
tomorrow ! Good man.

PPS. I think Shara is coming here, Phaneuf to Boston &
Ryder and/ or Koivu+goalie to Calgary. Hey you can
only guess. You don't send a fart down, and bring
up 2 big shits. Yo

Can you be a little bit clearer ??? What are you trying to say,

Dion Phaneuf, Dan Ryder + Goalie for Marc Savard??

Non-sense

Otherwise, you three way idea is even worse...

Every year its the same story. The fans and media have very low expectations from the team and then they play exceptionally in the beginning of the season, giving everyone hope. Then comes the slump. The players lose confidence in one another and the fans bash them, breaking their confidence even more. The coaches are obviously inexperienced and don't have the right solution. By the team realizes its time to play hard and fight its too late, either they barely make the playoffs or don't. If they do we have an early exit.

The problem is the system. We have a captain who has played his whole career in Montreal, and has seen the same crap happen every year his whole career and has no advice for the team since he has no experience. We tend to have a coaching camp where we bring in new coaches who have no experience whatsoever and have no solution to the problems, they however learn by screwing up in Montreal and then succeed elsewhere (Julien, Therrien, Vigneault...). What we need is an experienced coach, who has been around and seen it all, because the last time we had one we had a parade in June of '93, I was twelve then and too young to appreciate the dynasty, I've been dying my whole adolescent years to be in that parade again.

I like Guy Carbonneau

Call him up and tell him you play Defense, then maybe you can play on the #1 scoring line!!!

i hate guy carbonneau!

HotHabs's picture

Hate is a pretty strong word, but if I had to answer the question "is Carbo a good coach?", I'd have to say NO.

Wow! This is great news. Another rookie to go along with Chipchura, Price and, I think Kostitsyn. Does he count as a rookie this year? Bringing back Lapierre should give this team some much needed jump. Last season, he seemed to figure out his role early and never looked back. I think he's got better hands than people give him credit for as well. I wonder how he would play with Latendresse and Chipchura on the third line? Uh, I guess the way Carbo adjusts his line, we'll eventually find out. As far as O'byrne goes, he's going to make mistakes. Hopefully, he's a quick learner and doesn't get discouraged over it. And I hope he has incredibly thick skin, playing in Montreal and all.

As far as Perezhogin, I never quite understood why Carbonneau had a problem with him. As far as I remember, he played well with Bonk and Johnson and wasn't a defensive liability. Maybe he didn't score as much as Carbo would have liked but, you can't score from the pressbox.

sidhu's picture

Perez was a solid player - he had skill and was defensively responsible. On a team that was pretty bad 5-on-5, it wasn't unusual for Perez to have the best +/- on the team. I hope he comes back and we can find room for him on the roster.

That's a good point about Perezhogin. I remember him playing some pretty solid hockey and there was always that incident in the AHL, which was terrible. He's in Russia now like Emelin.

24 Cups's picture

Not to be picky here but Perezhogin never did that much in Montreal - he was still a guy who had 'the potential' to be a really good player but had yet to deliver. Then Russia offered him a ton of money that did not relate to his value in the NHL (especially in light of the cap) and he was gone. We would face the same problem if he ever decided to come back. Emelin has never played in North America and it will be tough to get him over here with all the coin he's making in Russia.

Blitzen's picture

Emelin has pretty much said that signing that contract in Russia was a mistake. He wants to come here.

Habsfan39's picture

Hey trade rumor!

montreal to trade away its remaining forwards for defencemen!

This to compliment the 9 they have so far. Markov, Hamrlik, Brisebois, Bouillon, Komisarek, Dandenault, Streit, Gorges and O'Byrne.

You heard it here first!

A shrewd move designed to strip Guy Lafleur of future ammunition. Replace 13 fourth-liners with d-men. That's brilliant.
