Carbo sounds in over his head. I am pretty sure these guys don't need this tough taskmaster talk from him right now. He should harness the feeling that this team and season are under siege and foster a sense of common purpose within the team. Let Gillette come in and yell and deliver a whipping and then Carbo should turn to them after he exits and say: Ok Guys we can do this... We can turn this around, We can salvage this season and regain the respect of our bosses, our fans, and our team's own legacy. We need to do it for each other, for each and everyone in this room right now, we have to shut out the noise that is surrounding this team and put our total focus on the ice, we have everything we need right here in this room to be successful, we proved that last year, we can rise to this occasion and put all this stuff behind us, but... we can only do it if we do it together, if we remember our commitment to each other and make sure that every decision we make between now and whenever this season ends is a decision that is best for our team, for each other, right here. Everyone is counting us out right now, but we know we have what it takes, let's prove them wrong and show the world how much this team means to us... That's the type of thing I think is needed from him right now. Pardon the drama but, it just came out that way.

I like the decision to put Halak in tomorrow.Price just is'nt himself lately, maybe the pressure is getting to him,dunno..something just 'aint right. Halak seems to have more poise, looks more comfortable and I think he is the hungrier of the two. Anyway, hope he plays great and we win.

Check Halak's stats before U praise him. He's not all that!!! He had his share of bad games this year. When Halak sucks you will cry for Price again. You people can't read & You are PATHETIC as well..........

RetroMikey's picture
You have serious mental problems Thomas Hailey from Toronto, Ontario (AKA Priceberg) You change your username a dozen times on this site, and are now under the user name Priceberg for 4 days. Respect other peoples opinions on this site. I agree Halak should play for the rest of the games, he's earned it and Price has not! If you keep bashing other people, I'll report you to Stubbs. Guys like you are idiots! "We will win the Cup only with Carey Price in the nets"

Grow up Mikey!!! Who is Thomas Hailey? Go ahead Mikey run to Stubbs like they do to the Teacher in Kindergarden. "Teacher, Tommy is calling me names"...LMAO!!!! Tell me Mikey, what has Halak earned? His stats are not the greatest.

That's OK Guy, we'll see you and Breezer in hell.

I agree with PRICEBERG , I don't get why price keeps getting the boot , CARBO DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING

WindsorHab-10's picture
All you have to do is check his pathetic record since he came back from injury. Though he played much better the last 2 games, he needs to watch a few and regain his confidence. No knock on him, just straight facts.

Bill's picture
This has to be some elaborate display of irony ... right? "I guess Gainey is out to prove that you CAN fire 23 players and keep your coach." - Fun Police

Me neither. Other then the fact that Price has been one of the worst goaltenders in the league for nearly a month. Has me scratching me head for sure.

Sometimes when I see the line ups and line combos or whos's in and who's out.....it feels like my heart is breaking.

Carbo can't even stick with a Goalie. Halak was the so called "Man" & he played. He play OK. He lost the game to Vancouver so he gets the boot & Price gets the next start. Price plays great in Washington but looses. The next game he lost by one goal & he gets the Boot. All Carbo knows how to do is jugle lines and Goalies. Any fool can coach if this is all one has to do!!!! CARBO CAN'T COACH!!!! WHY CAN'T YOU PEOPLE REALIZE THAT!!!!

Harditya_CareyPrice's picture
i so agree with you man holy...i agree price have been struggling lately but cmon u think the chemistry between players and defenseman will develop if he keeps on changing them.. no development..no chemistry..and reason our goalie collapses is cuz tht leads the other team to shoot like friggin 50 shots every game who agrees with me?

For everyone crapping on Carbo, just think about the things that are being revealed about this team for a minute... imagine if you were the coach of this inmature, dysfunctional group of millionares. I know much of what we are hearing and seeing on the internet or in our email in boxes (the photos of Price, D'ags, Chips, etc. on a party) may be misrepresenting the actual situation, but it's certainly an indication that these guys may not be taking their early NHL careers as seriously as they ought to be. I look at the demise of Theodore or Riberio as a shining example of why Montreal is not a great city in which to develop young talent. They are treated like gods, let into all of the hottest spots, have pretty young girls hanging off their arms any time... wait, am I jealous or actually making a point? Anyway, the off-ice distractions became so immense for the club when Jose's family was linked to illegal activities, the guy had to be moved out of town! I hope Gainey cracks the whip and that Carbo can keep them in line... I also hope the veterans (especially like Scheinder... he could be a coach some day) are able to talk some sense in to the kids and help them understand the decisions they make today will have a lasting effect on their futures. There are some other legitimate reasons for the recent slump, including the loss of a lot of key players for various periods of time over the past month or so... hopefully Tanguay and Lats are healthy soon. I also hope AK27 really does feel stronger and is able to come back and play like he did last year. All is not lost. It's good that this stuff is coming out now. Hopefully, the team can quickly put this behind them and get in a good place from now until the end of the season... a win on Saturday would go a long way to helping them get on the right track.

habs-13's picture
Schneider could be a coach someday, but would also make a good defensive coordinator. He's spent his entire career in the NHL playing well on both sides of the puck. We currently have no defensive coordinator, and I think that a defenceman like Schneider would be perfect. Schneider has said that he feels he has a few more seasons left in him and I wouldn't mind seeing him back next year. But once he retires, I hope he considers taking a coaching position on the Habs. "Hard work always beats talent, if talent doesn't work hard."

pricee shouldd be startinn tommorow....hes our #1..he needs to get into a solid rhythm...im getttin fed up with carbo

WindsorHab-10's picture
And I need a $1million.

Bill's picture
Yeah, right, LMAO, what the Habs really need is to start Price tomorrow. Maybe needing to score six goals to win will motivate the Habs? Carbo has stuck with Price solid all the way through his slump, in case you haven't noticed. It's just that Price refuses to reward his faith by, you know, stopping pucks. He's shot. Maybe next year. For the rest of this season, for the good of everyone, including himself, Price should ride the pines. "I guess Gainey is out to prove that you CAN fire 23 players and keep your coach." - Fun Police

The Cat's picture
No, no and no, brushing Halak aside for the sake of getting Huet/Price going has always been a mistake. We need good karma, Halak has it. He will get the win tomorrow.

linp's picture
Looking back, I think the fans are also responsible for our team's problem. we have voted 4 all stars in the starting lineup. Price is obviously not an all star yet. The event has probable screwed up his brain. He also tried to come back too soon :( Goaltending hurt our team the most.

Bugs's picture
Oh! Oh, it's OUR fault now? Oh, ok. Hey, guys on the team: we're SORRY. Ok? Is everyone else sorry? Yeah? Everyone's sorry? Ok, good. Settled. We're all of us sorry. Glad that's taken care of; can't wait for tomorrow's game, now! We're gonna kick their butts! Yeah, baby! ... I mean,... if they WANT to. Don't wanna push'em or nuthin... Peace Out _____________________________________________________ Lord Bugs Potter, esq. Earl of Fluppitburg, Baron of Fleenshire County and Knight of the Flannel Republic.

I didn't mean to wreck everything. I thought I was doing the right thing by watching their games, buying their merchandise, and teaching my impressionable five-year-old son to love them. How was I to know that my desire to see them win was too much pressure for them to handle? Maybe we could give them some more money to make up for it. Can we take up a collection? Or I can buy another DVD collection or Carey Price action figure for my poor deluded kid. "I guess Gainey is out to prove that you CAN fire 23 players and keep your coach." - Fun Police

I am sorry. I feel bad we caused this slump :(

Just heard Rejean Tremblay on Radio Canada saying that he doesn't understand why the montreal media were expecting so much to come out of the LaPresse article. Mmmmmmmmmmm, maybe, just maybe, it's because of the ridiculous pump up job your own reporter did on TV last night? That being said, Tremblay seemed to imply that there was a whole lot more known by the media that they just couldn't air - sounded like drugs. Francois Gagnon has made little sense also. Heard him this morning start off by saying that if this had only been about them being acquainted with the guy it would't have been a story but later saying that it was a big story because they were acquainted to him. OK Franky.... _____________________________________________________ Mad Pax...Beyond Powerdome

Anyone know what retro unis they'll be wearing tommorow? I hope not the prison stripes although they would be the most appropriate!

howtathor's picture
After some research, tommorow will be 70-71 uniforms. Not a bad team to aspire to!

New York Islanders just got a first rounder for Comrie and Campoli. Ottawa also sent them Mcammond along with the pick. I think Islanders did well although not too familiar with Campoli. Any thoughts?------------------- Individual records are nice to get, but before the season starts, you want to play to win the Stanley Cup! ~ Guy Lafleur

RC-51's picture
Ive played with Campoli, nothing special, mind you it was only shinny.

Bob Barker's picture
He's only 24 and can move the puck decently well. Ottawa needed more depth at D so I don't think it's a terrible move. A first round pick at around 28-30 is no guarantee. In my opinion, Ottawa doesn't need to go in full rebuild mode regardless of what many experts are saying. Vermette, Fisher and Foligno are all playing much better under Clouston's system which gives them the secondary scoring they needed. Brian Lee is starting to play a lot better as well. They can probably sign a UFA goalie in the offseason seeing how they'll be a lot available. Funny how a coaching change can improve a team's play drastically. To be honest, I feel with the Habs speed, they'd do well under Clouston's system.

Gr8stFranchizEvr's picture
Stubbs, thanks for all the audio feeds. my only beef is that we can't usually hear the questions. sometimes the answers reveal them, but other times, no matter how the players or coaches reply, we're in the dark. any way to adjust that? appreciated! keep up the nice work!

Dave Stubbs's picture
Some info on that: I've talked to the Canadiens about that. I've asked them to get a microphone in that Brossard conference room aimed into the media so we can hear the questions as well as the answers. Full disclosure: I'm laid up with the flu, a gift from the brutal Western Canada road trip, so the audio today was bagged off TV, which is why it's not as clear as usual. Dave Stubbs

I have nothing to say really but my avatar should be worth at least a few words if not a thousand. Since this whole thing has become a three ring circus I figured we could use some comic relief from Carbozo the clown.

You must love my avatar then. Il faut commencer avec le travail, et finir avec le talent. BG

Dear Coach Guy, Please play the best players more than the weak ones. Please play Dandy at D ahead of Patrice Brisebois. Please don't play Stewart more than the vets. Please give Begin a game or two, both D'ags and Pacioretty are comfortable with a game off, they are just happy to be here and their play has levelled. Respect a players solid play with more ice instead of the processional play, particularly on the road so match ups are more difficult. Why is BGL playing 3-5 mins a game, it is apparent to all that he hurts the team too much defensively, Begin is avail to spell him off, our fourth line can not be a energy line when the players have to worry about BGL's lack of speed. I know you love Tom the bomb but he is a 3rd to fourth line player and should never to top TOI forward. I know you like Breezer and want him to get his milestone but are not the playoffs more important? I know you want him to be coach but he has no experience just like Muller, I hope he plans to learn his craft in Jr or the AHL. Please if you want to keep your job, go to Bob and get some help, there is no shame in that, it simply shows that you put the teams needs ahead of your own.

habs12345's picture
brisebois hasnt played last two games and when he has hes been our best dman also pacioretty has been one of our most consistent forwards

Wow, what games have u been watching?

Bill's picture
This is the looniest I've seen Montreal get since the Patrick Roy debacle. The team sucks, the GM and coach are out of answers, and mobsters are trying to infiltrate the club. It's absolutely nuts. I keep expecting them to switch back to being a winning team, but it doesn't happen, and doesn't look like it will. The Habs need probably 27 pts in the next 23 games ... can they get there? And if they do, how ridiculous will they look against the B's in the first round? What about Carey Price? Somebody name me a goalie who has pulled out of a funk like this and gone on to be a great goalie. Please, give me some hope. Right now, I wouldn't play him down the stretch at all, unless it's the second-half of back to back games against a Timbits Novice club. That,s it Dave, it,s about game fixing no different than any of the other pro leagues.

Chorske's picture
I read somewhere that most goalies hit their peak in their late 20s. Goalies are a weird lot, and Price is no eddie the eagle. He'll settle down. Seriously- he's younger than most of my students, and most of the time THEY act like eejits. Il faut commencer avec le travail, et finir avec le talent. BG

Bugs's picture
No later than the last two years, Fleury shanked his first, then went to the Finals. Young goalie, high draft pick, modern era. He didn't WIN but still...he played GRRRRREAT. Not so delusional to expect as much from the Priceberg. No? Peace Out _____________________________________________________ Lord Bugs Potter, esq. Excellent example- folks were talking about what a disappointment he was after a fairytale junior career- does that ring a bell? Price is going to be fine. Il faut commencer avec le travail, et finir avec le talent. BG

I don't know if you believe in Karma Bill, but I most definitely do. I will not rehash the rather numerous shameful incidents that have occurred both on and off the ice. Dignity, team, honor, and respect are words that are now no longer associated with this franchise. It saddens me more than mere words can ever express. How has it come to this? The damage is done. If redemption is in the cards, it will be a long and painful process. Can we save the season? I could care less! Can we save the franchise? Good Lord, I hope so!

Not worried about Price...sophomore blues, plus they say goalies take some time...look at Fleury, I honestly thought he was going to be a bust...

Big Bird's picture
Patrick Roy had some horrible games in 1985 before the playoff run in '86. Maybe not a bad as Price but they all go through slumps. We can't pin this all on Price because the entire team has been brutal. If we get on a tear and make the playoffs I don't mind that. Going in with that kind of momentum is good. We've beaten the Bruins in the playoffs before with poorer (yes poorer) teams.

True, against the very same bruins when Theo stole the series. But I will disagree with on on poorer teams remark, amigo. This is by far the poorest, crapiest team (from on ice performance perspective) that I have seen since I started to follow Habs (1993-94)

Big Bird's picture
When Oleg Petrov is your best player that is pretty poor. This team has played crappy but they are ALL capable of playing better. Just as much as a losing streak can start, a winning streak can as well. The stretch run will decide if Carbonneau is indeed the idiot you are calling him out to be. I'm starting to agree with you but I hope you are wrong.

TheDagger's picture
Maybe the mobsters should be let in to the Club, they will definitely bring a dimension that the Habs have been lacking in awhile.

Id say marty turco this year, but he may not count since hes a veteran. Andrew Raycroft is doing decent in Colorado.

For those of you wanting Carbo replaced....he will probably become assistant GM to Gainey, he got exec experience down in Dallas and when Gainey first came up.

Some folks here are obviously in the wrong line of work, or maybe they are sending messages from their comfy seats as General Manager's in the NHL. Nah...I didn't think so..lol

fun police's picture
carbo is that you?

What an absolutely brilliant decision. You go with a better goalie (at the moment) and with a star forward in the lineup. Wow! That's why they must be paying Carbonneau the big bucks.

Can somebody tell me what Ottawa is thinking?!?! To Ottawa : Mike Comrie (UFA at end of year) Chris Campoli To Long Island : Dean McAmmond 1st round pick (probably SJ's)

MikeL's picture
Bryan Murray has taken over for John Ferguson Jr as the worst GM in the NHL. Someone, anyone, please tell me a move he has made that hasn't been absolutely pathetic. Corvo and Eaves for Stillman and Commodore. Meszaros to Tampa for Picard and a first rounder. McAmmond and a FIRST ROUNDER for potential UFA comire and Campoli. Does Murray realize they're tied with the Leafs, and currently a whopping 16 points out of the playoffs???

Meszaros for Picard and a first is actually pretty decent. Meszaros ain't doing too good in Tampa last I checked.

forskis's picture
He has a torn labrum...shoulder surgery, out for 6 months.

Prior to the injury though... wasn't he playing awful? I remember hearing or reading that he was in the coach's doghouse. Correct me if I'm wrong though...

habs-13's picture
As long as they take some of the spotlight away from the Habs, I'm not complaining. "Hard work always beats talent, if talent doesn't work hard."

Didn't ottawa go through Comrie experiment once before?

The Teacher's picture
Comrie returns to the Senators, having played 61 games during the 2006-07 season, including 20 playoff meetings en route to the Stanley Cup final Hey, worked out the first time.

So could it be they (the senators) are trying to get better? I don't know... I don't think improving your club is a way to go really.

The Teacher's picture
I know, they ARE pretty far out.... weird one for sure, but Ottawa still came out ahead IMO.

Y's picture
Did Hillary Duff approve this deal?

MikeL's picture
I think Murray did it so he can scoop out Duff AND Carry Underwood in the stands.

forskis's picture
Only if she does not need to visit Ottawa between now and mid-April.

The Teacher's picture
Pretty good deal for them. The 1st will be 30th overall pick, Comrie doesn't tie up salary beyond this year. Campoli is youngish and a D. Dean McCammond is almost finished no?
