Sergei Kostitsyn under the knife

posted by Kevin Mio at 13h23 EST on Apr 30

RDS reports that Sergei Kostitsyn will undergo surgery on his right shoulder on Thursday. It's a minor operation and he waited for the end of the season for surgery after suffering the injury several weeks ago.

RDS also says that  Alexander Perezhogin - remember him? - plans to stay in Russia.

Can anyone blame Perezhogin?

Bahamut-Prime's picture
Yeah I never missed Perezhogin he made some bad turnovers and never looked like he had that much potential. Now if Sergei jumped ship I'd be sad because I know there's more there and hopefully he'll show it again soon.

The good news is there's absolutely no danger that the knife could slip and hit his heart. I'm starting to wish Ovechkin would do a Perishogun. I'm getting tired of his ugly mug. You'd think with a gazillion dollars he could get something fixed.

he's a hockey player...not a male model if you're in the game for male models then you should consider the more metrosexual sport on ice...known as figure skating. - Pride + Envy = Second Place

Perezhogin. Ha ha ha ha ha...Honestly somebody explain to me why any European s/b on an NHL roster unless he can break his national team's starting lineup? I'll take heart and sould from the Canadian hinterland to any of these gutless clowns. --I will die a delirious fan and never apologize for it!--

"RDS also says that Alexander Perezhogin - remember him? - plans to stay in Russia." No...really?! I never would've guessed...

I liked Perez - he played well with Bonk and Johnson on what was our most consistent line one year. He has speed, some offensive instincts, and isn't afraid to mix it up.

sorry to hear things aren't working out in Phoenix. It's such a beautiful city and the surroundings, the desert and mountains atre picturesque. I lived there for 12 years, and only left because of the horrific traffic on the interstates, and also because of the sweltering temperatures in the summer, with an average temp of 110F. And folks please don't tell me it's dry heat. If you've ever put your head in a hot oven, that's exactly what it feels like. And when you add on monsson season July-Sept, with high humidity and rain everyday, it's hell. But Phoenix has always been a good sports town with ASU, Suns, Cardinals, Dbacks. sad. I hope they find a way to stay. the city and loyal fans there deserve a winner.

There's only one place and one place only for Pheonix - Winnipeg Jets are back!

Perezhogin ... Isn't he the guy who two handed a Dman in the throat and caused the poor bastard a seizure on the ice?

ooder's picture
ya but it was well deserved. the guy tried to do that to perez first and missed. perezhogin is just a better baseball player :) i guess the "poor bastard" had it coming --- we need a kovalev

Yep. It was a Bulldogs playoff game, and it wasn't pretty. A two hander, right in front of the net.

Nice. Also heard his absinthe is being rationed to two glasses a day. No sugar. Peace Out _____________________________________________________ Lord Bugs Potter, esq. Earl of Fluppitburg, Baron of Fleenshire County and Knight of the Flannel Republic.

Are you sure? I heard thru a source that it was the Griblex or Jimsen saddle?

Sergei's shoulder is fine. He's actually having his protocarpitialmetaphlange removed. Otherwise known as the Bacchus-bone. Have a friend at the Assurance Maladie what got me the info. Swear to gosh. What you described is either a finger/hand or a toe/foot...........nothing to do with the shoulder.

now if someone could go surgery on his brain so it would function .

The place to put the Coyotes that would give them the very best chance of succeeding is in Toronto. It has been too long since I last lived in Monteal. Hey you local fans, could Montreal support two NHL teams?

likehoy's picture
montreal only supports winning teams...as you've seen with the antics of fans in recent memory. - Pride + Envy = Second Place

forskis's picture
We could have two riots at the same time, then...also if Montreal ever did get a second team, name them the Maroons and put them in the Western Conference and hope for an All-Montreal final. "Even Roy can be run out of town after 2 Stanley Cups."

oshawahabsfan's picture
They should be moved back to where they were unrightfully taken from, or to Quebec City. They would be more successful there than in Toronto, all their big corporate jackoffs wouldn't want to leave the Laffs to take a risk on a new franchise

Seems to me that building a new arena in Quebec would be a FANTASTIC example of infrastructure spending during this economic crisis... You listening Charest? how 'bout you Harper? :D

G-Man's picture
Habs didn't spend any tax money to build the centre. The same should go for Quebec City. If an owner with deep pockets wants a successful franchise, locate it in Quebec City and watch the sparks fly all across the province. __________________________________________________________________________________ Beliveau is the best that ever was.

gainey should make a perezhogin pitch nonetheless more speed and skill would be nice...he was a robust player but not overly physical which doesn't help us. - Pride + Envy = Second Place

and he swings a mean stick.... I BLEED BLEU BLANC ET ROUGE!!!

forskis's picture
In his defense...the other guy swung first and hit him with a glancing blow...but in his prosecution, he turned around with a full-swing and connected...if he had missed like the other guy, he would probably still be with the Habs today. "Even Roy can be run out of town after 2 Stanley Cups."

I had read a few weeks back that the KHL cut salaries pretty much across the board. I'm actually kind of surprised that Perezhogin isn't considering coming back...

JasonM's picture
Right. Ask Primeau what he feels about how physical Perezhogin is.

I saw Sergei yesterday at west mount square(near the clinic) around 12 pm. No cocky behavior - he was minding his business, went to buy something at depanneur and than went back.

JasonM's picture
Oh, look at all these hurt feelings. Are you really surprised that Perezhogin won't come back? Comon now. He was treated terribly when he was here and is a solid hockey player playing for a good team near his home with a decent contract. Do you remember when he came here and Julien played him on the 4th line with less than 2 minutes per game? Do you remember when Carbo came in he put him, Koivu and Kovalev together and they were tearing it up at the start of the season, they didn't score for a game and back to the 4th line for him? I think his reasons why he's not coming back are quite evident and I don't blame him. It's a shame, he made a mistake years ago and the Montreal media still brings it up and throws it in his face. I was listening to the clowns of the Team990 in the morning this morning and that's all they could have said about him and used a mocking tone about his abilities. 91 points (49 goals) in 105 games in a low scoring Russian league? He finished 9th in the scoring standings? People claim we wasted a round pick, I say we squandered it. Here's another article to read : http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/273889.html Think about it. Bad fans and scrub media should take note. You expect Bowmeister to come here? I doubt it. And he won't come unless we overpay him. Just like we did for Hamerlik. You think getting players here before this end of season was hard? You have no frickin' clue on how hard it'll be. No player will sign here without knowing the status of the team, which coach they will be playing for, what sorta linemates they will play with on top of dealing with the media and fans? Oh man.

i don't want to have purchased a sergei jersey for nothing. please be better next year, bro.

Nice pic, btw. Love The Hold Steady.

Habsrule1's picture
That's why the only number I've ever put on a Habs jersey was 33...!! There have been many other worthy candidates over the years, but recently I've had a lot of trouble deciding on one. I think I'll wait until next season and make a choice among the guys who are signed long term. Go Habs Go!! "I can't hear what Jeremy (Roenick) is saying because my Stanley Cup rings are in my ears" - Patrick Roy

NSavard18's picture
<-------- works for Serge and Denis!!!! now lets try and get Marc out of Boston and bring it out of retirement!!!

Fant-HAB-ulous's picture
I base decisions like that on contracts. For instance, when Markov signed for 5 years, I figured it was safe to buy a jersey...

I got a jersey for Christmas, and at first I wanted to put Komisarek on... Good thing I decided to wait!!! Maybe I'll use Tanguay if he resigns for a few years.

TorontoHabsFan's picture
It's always a good idea to stick with the classics. I just got #4 and a "C" on my retro jersey. Any newer players I like will be relegated to the totally awesome t-shirt jerseys that cost like $30. Here's hoping I can still get me a Tanguay one next season!

HardHabits's picture
The only safe bet these days is a retired number. It totally sucks to get a new expensive Habs jersey with a player's name and number on it only to see him get traded or leave the team the following year.

Let both these clowns stay in Russia(or wherever)

Perez who? oh that's right.... another draft pick we lost for nothing... Almost forgot

Habsrule1's picture
Yeah....Gainey should have handuffed him to the zamboni. Go Habs Go!! "I can't hear what Jeremy (Roenick) is saying because my Stanley Cup rings are in my ears" - Patrick Roy

Exit716's picture
That's true. Carbo had him handcuffed to the immortal Bonk and Johnson on the third line. No wonder he left.

Exit716's picture
Will they also do an attitude-adjustment to Sergei's brain while he's under? That way he comes back as a player, not a cocky detriment that is lazy.
