Audio: Max and Gui on their busy summers

posted by Dave Stubbs at 12h03 EST on Sep 12

• Maxim Lapierre is in good shape but still feeling a little discomfort after summer surgery to clean up his right ankle (that part's not on the audio). He spent a month in Ottawa doing some high intensity training with Canadiens' new strength and conditioning coordinator Lorne Goldenberg.

• Guillaume Latendresse, who worked out with Lapierre in the nation's capital, appears to be in superb shape. He jokes that he and Lapierre, with Georges Laraque the only francophones on the team, will be enlisting a few English-speaking players on the club to learn French to give the trio a break with the francophone media.

Woohoo!!!! Got 2 tickets to the Habs vs. Sabres Sept. 26!!!! Summit game sold out, all Boston and Toronto games too.

komo8's picture

thats pre-season

HardHabits's picture

LOL. I am so stupid sometimes.

I was reading how some guys, after sitting in the waiting room, opened a new window and were able to purchase tickets right away.  So I tried it and it worked.  I had two laptops waiting (got that error message earlier on both ) and on both I was able to get to the ticket purchasing stage on both computers.  Give it a try.

WHOO HOO!!!! Got my tickets for Dec. 14 against Buffalo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited, this is my first game at the Bell center. Now i just have to book the airfare and we're all set!

Would someone fill me in on why I paid 144 a piece for the club Des. B when its higher up than the say Red c which were 108 a piece????

g's picture

you should have taken the Red C's

Every time I get tickets it's in Club Des-I sit in envy of the Red's eating my free hotdog. Don't worry though, you'll have a great time-best place on the planet to see a game!!

Sweet... thanks guys

Just snagged a pair for the season finale against the Laffs. I'll be fun serenading them to the golf course with chants of "67!"

FYI, I popped open a second browser window, and immedately was able to purchase tickets...

I think hockey fever just hit me!

Chorske's picture

Trying to catch tickets to the Nov 20 game, in Washington. Rock on.

joeybarrie's picture

Good luck not speding a fortune, Tickets have gone up astronomically in prices, and are selling out like crazy. That being said, I guess i'm used to $10 seats here in DC. Now you can;t get two tickets in the nose bleeds for under $120.

There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...

cautiousoptimist's picture

Woo hoo!  Got 4 for the Pittsburgh game!

I just scored some lower level tickets for 26 Oct...had to reopen the window because I got the error message...convenience charge is way cheaper than stub-hub rip-off fees...

"At least we are not the Leafs!"

Fargo Habs Fan's picture

I got tickets.  Initially I had 3 browsers open, and got the err0 message on all of them.  After that, I opened another browser window, never got the err0 message, and was able to purcahse tickets on THAT window.  But, the seats suck.  Family zone.  :-(  Well, at least now I get to book my hotel/flight!  Is the Delta Centre ville a decent place?

howtathor's picture

Great to hear that Dustin! Which game did you score? Is that for the summit?

Natrous's picture

I also got tickets, two to the Rangers game in the 200's, but it was the strangest thing - I start looking for available games/seast, and my laptop dropped my connection (I had two tabs open, both in waiting room)... I re-connected, opened a new tab in the waiting line, and got in instantly. This electronic waiting room is a joke unfortunately.. I hope they figure out a better online method some day.

MikeMcLaren's picture

Wouldn't you be more upset if the dropped Internet connection meant you were screwed out of tickets though?

We can only speculate as to how they determine ticket buying order, what sort of stateful connection/cookie situation they've got going on, etc. but I suspect what you saw there was by design and you should probably be happy about it rather than say it's a joke.

The easier and simpler the method they have for distributing tickets, the more easily people will be able to exploit it and work it to their advantage.  As long as this method remains so mysterious, I bet it's the fairest way to do it.

Natrous's picture

I'm not saying it's a joke because I eventually managed to get my tickets, I'm saying it's a joke because there is zero information to keep you in line, there are error messages popping up on several user screens for no apparent reason (or cause), for the inability to see what seats are available before you actually hit 'find seats'... I could go on and on but I don't wish to.

My point is, as dreadful as last year's site was, in my opinion this site is worse. The only thing this site has done correctly as far as I'm concerned is not having crashed within the first hour of business. That's not high praise for anything internet-related these days. Joke.

MikeMcLaren's picture

I sent you a note about hotels through your contact info there - sometimes I've noticed in my e-mail that when people contact me through here their e-mails get dumped into my spam folder, so take a look at your e-mail and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the email!  I pulled it out of my span folder and sent you a response.  Cheers!

HardHabits's picture

What actually happens? I am still at the "please wait your turn" screen. Is there a pop-up or a notification or does the screen just say "buy now"?

Fargo Habs Fan's picture

A window pops up in the middle of the screen that says it's your turn (impossible to miss.)

-Dustin

HardHabits's picture

Nice! Congrats to you BTW. I hope I am as lucky.

Thanks, this will be my second trip to Montreal this year!

zozotheclown's picture

woohoo got 4 for kovy's return the 17th!

TorontoHabsFan's picture

What's with the ridiculous $17 "convenience" fee? I don't think they had this last year, did they?

MikeMcLaren's picture

The $17 "convenience" fee is pretty funny, as is the $5 for e-delivery or $7 for snail mail.

Talk about pure gravy.  Before when they used Admission/TicketMaster I can see how they would have to levy that charge to cover their overhead, but these are coming directly from the club.  I wonder what sort of royalty that company gets for that awesome 'waiting room' software?  It cannot be $17 per purchase, there's no way.

I will say though, that this does tend to give folks a fair chance to get tickets - as fair as it's going to get, that is.

cautiousoptimist's picture

Wow -- $17 for the convenience of waiting in line for hours?  Is that per ticket?

MD's picture

Per pair. 8.50 per ticket. ticket master used to charge 6 i think.

In any case, Canadiens do give money to charity so, let's say its our contribution :)

vegas_habs_fan's picture

I'm trying for Dec. 14 v. Buffalo

anyone know about how long this usually takes

MD's picture

Logged in 20 minutes ago - got 2 ticks for Ottawa Nov 17 in the blues. The rest is sold out.

vegas_habs_fan's picture

Did you ever get the err message?

Chuck's picture

That sucks. I logged in over 2 hours ago and I'm still waiting. You're a queue jumper!  :)

yathehabsrule's picture

I like Latendresse's attitude on working to get a top-two spot. He'll have his work cut out, but he was tagged as a potential power forward when he was drafted. Time to earn it GUI!

cautiousoptimist's picture

Are you guys using IE or Firefox?  I've had FF crash on me twice now -- and this from a program that's usually super stable.

  2. Mike Boone: "With Gainey at my side, I'd walk into any dark alley in the world."

HardHabits's picture

I was using Opera but was constantly getting a secure page warning, then at one point got that err0 thing so I copied the URL and popped it in IE. I figure each person gets a unique URL so I doubt I lost my place in the queue. That is if I had one to begin with. ;-)

TorontoHabsFan's picture

I got that error message, but the girlfriend got in early so I closed up my window...hope everything works out for everyone!

TPlow's picture

What annoys me about the online system is that they don't tell you if it's not working. After my experiences over the past few years I assume it isn't, but it would be nice if they would tell us that so I can go enjoy the frigging sunshine.

cautiousoptimist's picture

Couldn't agree more -- but the fact is they know tens of thousands of crazed fans will happily stare at a potentially frozen screen for 12 hours on end if it means just a chance at two tickets to any game at all.  I love the team and all, but this is no way to treat your fans.  And if the system crashes, they know most of us folks will line up again tomorrow.

  2. Mike Boone: "With Gainey at my side, I'd walk into any dark alley in the world."

TPlow's picture

Well, the system is working. I got in for a chance to buy Ottawa tickets, but singles were pretty much all that was left. Maybe another game will come up ....

Natrous's picture

Which Sens game did you get? They're all showing several areas in the Bell that are available...

zozotheclown's picture

I completely agree, they should just do it in person with no internet, even if it is the bracelet system... I could be wasting hours on a frozen screen lol

matmacat's picture

Okay, all is well. Got a 3 seat boston game in february.

Natrous's picture

Well at least someone managed to get tickets after gettting an error message... I'll feel a lot better when I get mine tho :P

zozotheclown's picture

Everyone got it I guess, I just closed the window and opened a new one, no idea if the other was still working, stupid internet system...

MikeMcLaren's picture

Interesting, I didn't get that error...

Yes, but don't worry, I didn't steal a *prime* game from anyone!

My friend from Vancouver is coming out for a road trip, so I needed a single ticket in Desjardins B for that Tuesday, February 2nd game.

I did actually land that ticket a few minutes ago :)

I love that for a single ticket they charge you $5 to e-mail it to you.  That's how they can spend up to the cap, I guess.

vegas_habs_fan's picture

I got one too... are we still in line?

Natrous's picture

Same with me.. I was in at 11:10am, and just got an 'err0' message... if I don't get tickets to ANY game, I'll probably lose my mind!!

matmacat's picture

I was in line in the waiting room since 11:20 about, and I just got a pop up with an error message. . . what a load of %$#@

MD's picture

Err 0 - i think everybody got this error
