Inside source reveals all on Gomez/Kostitsyn fight. It doesn't get more factual than this. Now, it's best if we just leave it alone.

Gomez apparently stabbed Markov in the foot too, that's the rumour Gomer's apparently been spreading anyway.
It makes me laugh. I love the one on Komisarek being an ***hole too. Hilarious!
How many times are you going to keep posting this rubbish Bugs ? It is getting annoying now... :(
If there's no truth to this, why does it get published in the first place? Obviously someone is not telling the truth and I find it disconcerting to hear two completely opposite stories. I don't know who to believe!
TSN would not have pulled out the article is it was true. Gomez said it never happened & that's good enough for me.
Yeah I agree I hate that too. Part of me thinks where theres smoke theres fire.
JM will put Price in the nets on monday against the Islanders and go with the hot hand tonight in Halak.
I just red Jack Todd's column. He and Herb Zerkowski only write about the negative. The Als are 13-2, and Herb writes about weakness in the defenceor the offence or whatever else was not 100% perfect during the last 4 quarters. They are 13-2, Herb, not 2-13. As for Todd, he has become more and more a waste of time to read. As to Todd's character. well, his draft dodging history tells me all I need to know. I guess he panicked, right Jack?...Jack?.... Jack?...

Did you say panicked. You are talking about going to Vietnam. Do you have any clue as to what that was? Listen to me G-man. Not only would I have dodged, I'm willing to bet you would have too. If you don't have a clue to what your talking about, and not enough sense to understand something like that, I suggest you keep you ridiculous comment about someone character to yourself. The only person here that your are embarrasing is yourself.
There may be other teams, but only ONE Club De Hockey...
"... his draft dodging history tells me all I need to know. ..."
Me too. Thank God he came to Canada instead of VietNam; thank God he rejected the war-mongering military industrial complex of the American sixties; thank God he refused the draft; thank God he has the balls to write the truth when everyone else wants another cheerleader. Thank God for Jack Todd!

"Thank God for Jack Todd!"
I just threw up all over my computer! You're being facetious right?
... not at all. Thank God for Jack Todd. And I hope your computer wasn't a Mac; I'd hate to think you would disrespect a Mac like that.
"Whenever you have control of the puck, and don't know what to do with it, put it in the net." - Toe Blake
It was a Mac...now it looks more like a Big Mac.
But seriously, I really don't care what Jack Todd did during the Vietnam war but I DO care what he does in the Montreal Gazette. Currently he is tearing apart Carey Price and Bob Gainey in his own inimitable petty way. I'd like to see him say something constructive for a change and what's the deal with those sunglasses?
... that's fine, as long as we both agree to disagree.

I guess we'll see tonight if Jacques Martin is a real coach or a puppet. I cant think of many coaches that'd take Halak out in favour of Price in this situation.
Really? I seem to recall Clemmensen having the best roll of his career being pulled for Brodeur simply because he was Brodeur....who went on to slump for awhile and eventually lose them a playoff round with a soft goal.
So no, it's not just Martin.
Again though at the risk of repeating myself, there was a clear number one. But Lamoriello undoubtedly calls the shots in NJ. If Marty doesnt like coach x, then coach x is gone. I dont like brodeur but Ill admit hes earned his perks; price hasnt.
he pulled price for halak after price had won two in a row.
Thats a bit different though isnt it? a b2b situation was in play. And Price was given Vancouver because hes from there.
Wow...a puppet if he plays his # 1 after his back-up had one of the easiest almost shutouts ever? I think you're pushing it a little. Either choice would be a good one.
Go Habs Go!! "I can't hear what Jeremy (Roenick) is saying because my Stanley Cup rings are in my ears" - Patrick Roy
I guess I must be the only one in the world that sees how the habs are different with Halak in nets mostly because they like him and hes not someone who has built a reputation by being put in ideal situations in junior hockey, Halaks actually had to work.
They play different for one reason. They expect Price to stop everything and know they need to work harder with Halak in nets. I think it's partially pychological, but I think that's part of it. The fact is they need to give 100% no matter who is in nets. It's obvious that Price's games were tougher than Halak's. I'm not saying Halak should not play. I'm just saying both are deserving for the shot to play. Price was actually first star in the first 2 games, but Jaro still played the 3rd one.
If the team plays like they can, they can win with either of our goalies in nets.
Go Habs Go!! "I can't hear what Jeremy (Roenick) is saying because my Stanley Cup rings are in my ears" - Patrick Roy
Funny - but while I agree....
I could probably list you 25 Teams/Head Coaches that would play Price... Not because of his talent etc, but the simple fact when you annoint a #1 Goalie, eventually you DO need to put him back between the pipes.
I could care less who is in net is my bottom line, so long as the TEAM comes to play and gives a effort for 60 minutes.
I always say you cant fault a goalie when he allows less than 3 goals, much less take him out. But I guess theres some that are stubborn.
Nah its more about asset management, having been in business for 20 years I certainly see parallels between my career and the running of a Hockey team.
Price is the #1. He has been sitting on the bench for 2 games. IF he is not playing tonight, even if Halak get's a shutout you can bet Price will have the Islanders on Monday.
However I firmly believe Price will be between the pipes tonight, that does not make Martin a puppet or a bad coach. Makes him a smart coach, because as I said. It is asset management, when you are responsible for getting the best out of your staff/team, you MUST use your key components, even if they are struggling otherwise there is no point in having them on your team.
I agree with your point, but one has to consider if the anointed number 1 has been playing like a number 1. If he hasnt been playing like a number 1 for a good little while, then I guess this is where the stubbornness sinks in.
Well then with the exception of the Vancouver game I disagree with your opinion of Price. (and even THAT game was not solely his fault. He was left out to dry for the first part of the game)
Price was not the biggest reason for his failures in those 4 straight losses by him. His teammates had a VERY large part to play in that.
Chalk it up to new team chemistry being built. I dunno. Having seen the last 2 games, I would expect the players in front of Price to play a solid Defensive game & the offense actually potting a few goals against a VERY good goalie in Lundqvist.
Tonight will not be easy, and if Price is in nets, and its a loss - I surely hope you will not dump on Price & say "I told you so" when we all know how good the Rangers have been so far this year.
Like another poster said, either goalie is a good choice. the TEAM as a whole must come to play for 60 minutes if the Habs intend on winning tonight.
"Another poster"? Is that all I am to you, Bill? :-P
Go Habs Go!! "I can't hear what Jeremy (Roenick) is saying because my Stanley Cup rings are in my ears" - Patrick Roy
LMFAO :P
It's too early, the coffee has not settled in yet lol
I wont dump on Price if he plays well and loses. I did even say a while back that I dont even hold him responsible for the Vancouver game, it was a tough situation (b2b vs a rested good team at home on a small losing skid). All the points people make are good ones IF we had a Lundqvist or Backstrom or a clear number 1 but we dont and its insane to me that Gainey and others pretend that we do have a clear No 1. Were more like Ellis/Rinne or Vokoun/Anderson last year in Florida.
Glen Metropolit is on pace for 101 points! What's up with that
"Long before I ever wore the jersey, I wore the jersey.” Dryden
Don't get silly now. It's still early. He probably won't get more then 90.
Just woke up and saw Jack Todd's column. As expected, he is critizing the HABS (this time Bob) again. He was much more liberal in the past and now he is acting like a jerk. I think he doesn't age well.
That column is pretty accurate IMO. Gainey receives an enormous benefit of the doubt and it is unwarranted.
His colums are a load of tripe.

AHA!
But does he deny kissing SK74?
nice

(an excerpt) ... "But no better place to turn things around than up there, that's for sure," Higgins said Friday
... from Larry Brooks : The Rangers aren't going to win with continued scoring droughts from nominal top-six forwards Drury, Chris Higgins and Ryan Callahan, either. Drury and Callahan have scored two goals apiece while Higgins is scoreless......... IMO this line has a lot of potential once it gels, a great two way line.
well then that's settled, what's next on the crazy rumour mill
tricolore.ca reports that SK74 was pulled in the 2nd period for no apparent reason, I believe he got an assist on the first goal.
Can anyone who watched the live web-cast confirm this ?
They go on to speculate a trade is imminent...
B - SK74 dove head first to get the puck out of his own end and collided with the defender and immediately left the ice in pain, he left his stick on the ice also, that was his last shift. No injury update followed.
He dove? I hate to hear about an injury but nice to hear he's giving some effort for the team.
Thanks NM - I was a bit surprised by it - I hope he's ok.
Then again - what are the odds he is faking ?
I'm thiniking he is being called up for tommorrow's game against the NYR..
Hey guys, it'd be great if you could sign this petition for getting Lorne Chabot into the hall of fame. Chabot was part of a deal that sent the late-great Howie Morenz to Chicago.
He was a great goaltender and deserves his spot in the hall of fame.

That site explains (from his grandson) why he should be inducted and some valid points have been made. Please sign this petition.
Thank you.
I can just see the headlines in tomorrow morning's paper: "Gomez denies fight with SK but admits to knifing Markov!"
I wouldn't be surprised at all if it did appear...
How much more proof do we need??? This is front page news, accounted for and verified, triple-checked and concretely ascertained to be nothing less than absolute fact!

"I guess this is what happens in Montreal" I don't like that...
Is it not the truth ?
I agree with another poster - He calls em as he see's them, & I also like it. About time.
God Knows our previous Captain never really said much about the Media BS that was always being spewed.
Why don't you like it, thats what happens in montreal.....he calls it as he sees it, I LOVE IT!!!!!
making a big deal out of nothing mulvena72
Why? The player is just calling the media on their ***.
...sorry mods, but it seemed fiting
Way to call out the media, Gomez! "complete BS" then they had a good laugh - I love it! With that kind of attitude, he's obviously got what it takes to stay in Montreal. Good stuff!!!
Seems the boys Bob and J.m. went out to get all have won the Cup except Cammy my point is they know what it takes and bring it cause they love the game. Great for our youth and will really show up in the playoffs. Wonder if these guy's will be needing a little siesta cause there....Tired? i still don't get it.
From TSN.
DENVER -- Colorado Avalanche forward Darcy Tucker was taken off the ice on a backboard after he was checked into the boards by Carolina forward Tuomo Ruutu.
Ruutu hit Tucker from behind as the right wing tried to play the puck in the Hurricanes' end with 14:34 left in the second period.
Tucker's face hit the glass and he fell on his back on the ice. He lay motionless for several minutes as the Avalanche trainers and doctors attended to him.
Doctors put a neck brace on Tucker and strapped him to a backboard. Tucker appeared to be conscious as he was moved off the ice, revealing a pool of blood where he had been laying for more than five minutes. There was no immediate word on his nature of his injury.
It has also been reported that Pavol Demitra could now be gone for the rest of the year. Only 10 games into the NHL season and the injuries are starting to really mount up. I wonder if anyone is asking why.
... a follow up to Dr. Kerley's nice post ... Denver Post .....
While the win, in front of a surprisingly light crowd of 13,673
produced smiles in the home dressing room afterward, the night was darkened by a head injury to Avs veteran Darcy Tucker. After being hit from behind by Carolina's Tuomo Ruutu early in the second period, Tucker lost consciousness and was taken off the ice on a stretcher. He was said to have been alert after the game with full mobility but suffered a concussion and needed stitches...................... from All Things Avs ..... it seems like Darcy Tucker escaped potentially catastrophic injury tonight. After being taken from the ice on a stretcher from Tuomo Ruutu’s hit from behind, eyewitnesses said later tonight that Tucker walked out of the Pepsi Center. He was on his way to the hospital for further tests, but Avs personnel told me Tucker appears to have “escaped” with a concussion and stitches to the head.
Poetic justice.
That was a really cheap shot on Tucker. I happened to see it on Centre Ice. He's gotta get at least five games for that, if not 10.
Tommy Pyatt with another goal tonight, his 4th of the AHL season.
Wonder if/when Bob will bring him up. One could argue he deserves to be with the big team more than SK.
Or Stewart, or Laraque...
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
3 - 0 for the BullDogs.
The 3rd period was quite exciting. They have a guy Hollweg who acted like an animal. First he punched Neilson and got a penalty. We scored. Then when Glumac got a penalty, he jumped Glumac. When the Glumac was on the ice, he kicked him with his skate. He got a 5 minutes penalty and was ejected. We ended up on the PP and scored.
Hollweg is a jerk. He ran chris simon into the boards and then Simon nailed him in the face with a stick. Not a supporter of Simon or stick swinging but Hollweg had a beat down coming. Class A jerk.
Elmer Lach's #16 jersey should be raised to the rafters.
Didn't Kovalev just smoke Hollweg in the head with an elbow when he played for the Rangers? Next shift Hollweg hammered Sergei K into the boards from behind?
Hollweg has a screw loose and is a danger on the ice whenever he plays. He basically has no on-off switch. He should not be allowed to play professional hockey anywhere in North America.
This guy is a "head case" and should not be allowed on the ice. He "snaps" and loses any control he might have and literally goes berserk.
he sure did

Police have found the body of a man in Lake Ontario wearing a Leafs jersey, womens underwear, fishnet stockings, and a pink wig. They have removed the Leafs jersey to save the family any embarrassment ...
The other day was take your child to work day. The Leafs had a fun time, played a little scrimmage against their sons and daughters. Unfortunately they lost, 5-3.
Toskala walks into an ice cream parlor. With some discomfort, he slides onto a stool and orders a sundae. The waitress asks, "Crushed nuts?" He replies, "No, bad knees."
Luke Schenn showed up at his parent's house, and swung the door open. Unable to attend the game, his father immediately wanted to know what happened. "So, how did you do son?" he asked. "You'll never believe it!" Luke said. "I was responsible for the winning goal!" "Really? How'd you do that?" "I stood their while their player went around me."
What do the Leafs and a TV evangelist have in common?...They each have the ability to make 20,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ!"
A Canadian peacekeeper is walking in a desert when he comes across a magic lamp. He rubs it and out comes a genie. The genie promises to give him 1 wish. The peacekeeper thinks hard and finally takes out a map. He points at the region where he's from and says all he wants is to have peace in that region. "Wow," the genie says, "that's a tough one. Do you have anything else?" The peacekeeper thinks a moment and says: "How about the Leafs winning the Stanley Cup?" to which the genie replies: "Let me see that map again."

Pour moi, Saku c'est un champion qui n'a pas encore gagné. Il joue comme un champion, il s'entraîne comme un champion, il mange comme un champion. Un jour, il le deviendra
... why am I not surprised? The francophone sports media of Montreal are simply incapable of handling success without doing all they can to turn it into failure. If they keep it up, they'll finally get rid of Gomez. They did all they could to get rid of Koivu but he was too much for them. I hope Scott has the cajones that Saku did.
"Whenever you have control of the puck, and don't know what to do with it, put it in the net." - Toe Blake
while i do agree about the francophone media, we are not yet at a point where success is 4 - 5.
in the 416 maybe, but even with our drought is is not success yet.;)
www.soundcloud.com/le-freak
... I used the "longer view" concept of success in my comment. Saku was a success, but he was vilified; the team's fan base is hugely successful, yet to hear that media say it, you'd think fans are leaving in droves unless the changes they (French media) demand are instituted. The Montreal Canadiens are arguably, the most successful sports franchise in (North American) history, yet the francophone media sees ONLY artificial and self-imposed problems; it is incapable of accepting success when their view is not accomodated.

2nd intermission:
Not much happening. SK done for the night.
Subban is looking much better now. He pays more attention to his defensive plays and still has energy to carry the puck up ice.
What did he do? Smack someone or injury? Hopin' its the former option!
"All you need in hockey is good character, luck and skills" - Ovie
He was playing sick. But first shift picked up an assist, lasted maybe half way through the second.
Watch out for the flu this year, guys.......
As pissed as i was when they traded for him, i have to love Gomer's sense of humour and that he is playing with gusto this year. 1 game away from .500 = a clean slate imo (if they win of course). Winning it against the Rangers who other than the last 2 games have been pretty solid thus far this year would make me breathe a sigh of relief.
I hope that Halak gets the go. I'm not a Carey hater at all (although i do think he has been rushed a little too much for the market he is in), but you have to go with the guy who has been winning you games. So far the biggest surprise this year for me is Plecks actually playing again. If only the rest of his linemates could follow...Andrei is showing signs of life, but i'll believe it when we see the red light.
Max Pac back down though please, even if he scored last game. We have harder workers on the farm. It angers me that he never seems hungry and is a bit of a floater. I would much rather see some gritty kid with less talent who has toiled in the minors for a long time, get his shot at the bigs and play hungry, than flat floating kid that needs to ride the bus a bit more to know what he does not want to go back to.
You can accuse Pacioretty of having little finish, and that his game needs to get better to stay in the bigs, but I can't see him being called a floater. He's a hard skater and finishes his checks. If anything he needs to work on his shooting and passing.
I think Gomez is going to be motivated against the Rangers tomorrow, we'll see a good game! And remember the goal Kostitsyn scored against the Rangers last year? It was a beauty.

call me crazy, but i have been to every game at bc so far this year...call it tv, but away from the play max pac is a softie and floats. No intention of flaming here, i only call them like i see them.:)

disagree...he works hsi butt off...you might think he's floating cause he's working his butt off in areas that are useless...much like higgins!
- we need a MARKOV.
I wonder what the over under in Vegas is of SK walking out on the Bulldogs after tonights game.
the math = easily 5:1
louis leblanc had 1 assist 6 pim and 8 shots in his first game with harvard vs the mcgill redman. the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
Not bad at all. 8 shots eh? Sounds like Cammalleri's first few games in the CH.
