Dave Stubbs has been a sportswriter since 1976, which was roughly a decade after he wore the first of many holes through the knees of his jeans playing nets in road hockey (using a modified butterfly popularized by Hall of Famer Glenn Hall). He still has the welts to show on his shins from that rotten, frozen orange ball.
Stubbs kept thick hockey scrapbooks filled with game summaries and Gazette and Montreal Star stories, collected dozens of Bee Hive Corn Syrup photos and put a fortune of hockey cards through the spokes of his bikes. First book ever owned: Scrubs On Skates, the classic by Scott Young (Neil's dad).
Stubbs's fantasy is to travel back in time to the 1950s and watch the great Canadiens dynasty that won five consecutive Stanley Cups. Or a decade earlier, to watch Elmer Lach centre Rocket Richard and Toe Blake on the fearsome Punch Line. Or at least to get Rogie Vachon into the Hockey Hall of Fame – where he belongs.

If that mask was made for the purpose, it is not only to commemorate the soliders in war but for certainly that Price will be in nets tomorrow.
Beautiful work on the mask, I thought it might be the mask for the Olympics.

The mask is a great tribute to the vets whom fought for this country and those who still do. No disrepect but Price should worry about his playing and not so much about his masks, he is up to what 5 masks in 2 1/2 years...??? I'd love to see the price who played for the world juniours or even the bulldogs during the playoffs, but he is just dismal the start of this year and the latter part of last year. He just looks to laid back, and looks like he doesn't try hard enough. I'd love to see more cockyness and determination out of him. Other wise his future won't be with the habs in 2 years if he doesn't regain his form again.

I agree that Price seems too unfocused and to lack consistant intensity. It's a tough day to be knocking this initiative though.;)

What a wonderful gesture by Price, to remember Canada's soldiers in such a public way. The mask covers a lot of areas, what with the poem Flanders Field, the soldier laying the wreath, the bagpiper, the poppies, and the yellow ribbon. I even like the name Bauer shown on it, as I grew up wearing Bauer skates.

You can determine that from my reply can you? God forbid I make a short, mild, hockey related joke on a hockey forum. I think the super sensitivity of Habs fans is rearing it's head again. You know nothing of me personally, which is the problem with making personal attacks at someone on a forums because it is always out of ignorance.
It is nearly impossible to find any Canadian who has not been personally touched in some way by war, especially a 5'th generation Canadian like myself. I would explain to you the ways that I have been personally touched by war but it is none of your business and that would make me the type of person who feels the need to justify myself in the face of ridiculous claims. You know like the person who is called a racist feels the need to list all their black friends to prove they are not.

We put them on notice that in the event of a mortality in the league caused by a hit to the head by another player, intentionally or otherwise we would be holding them criminally liable and responsible for a lack of adequate measure of protection and that they will be named in the civil law suit that we would take against them.
It might be like having a leak against the wind, but we gave it a go.
Let us just see what they come up with at their GM and league meetings being held today.
I like it. I would participate in that venture if there is any way I can. And I would offer to retract it for an automatic 5-minute penalty for any and all contact to the head.

That is a beauty...the Bauer logo is a little too prominent but aside from that, this is a nice tribute.
I agree with you, the mask is awesome, but the first thing that hit me is that the Bauer logo is a bit to prominent. I always take the logo off my masks. No free advertising. Same with my cars.
Since it's going to be auctioned for charity, I'd suspect that Bauer donated the mask in return for the logo. Besides, it won't look as prominent with the cage in place.
