• PREGAME AUDIO: Jacques Martin | Francis Bouillon

Push has finally come to shove with underachieving Guillaume Latendresse, who will be in the pressbox tonight when the Canadiens take on the Predators in Nashville.

Head coach Jacques Martin has Kyle Chipchura returning to action, having been a healthy scratch the past four games. Gregory Stewart remains on the sidelines.

Carey Price gets the start in goal, having won 4-2 in Phoenix. The participation of defenceman Jaroslav Spacek, who suffered a deep bruise when kicked in the leg in the third period against the Coyotes two nights ago, remains a game-time decision.

Canadiens official Twitter feed emphasizing the positive (kind of)- two tweetd during game. After first to inform Price has record for saves made in a period by habs goalie. After second to say only 11 more from all-time Hans record. An upside to getting shelled this period at least! And hey, it's the mighty Preds after all!!

slapshot777's picture

Why don't we switch teams and send down the present Habs and call up the Bulldogs, because after that period against the Predators they couldn't play any worse than that.

Bill J's picture

Lats is back in - Gionta is out.

slapshot777's picture

He may as well be sat out for what time he is playing. He probably got what 5 minutes so far after 2 periods

SmartDog's picture

Last couple of minutes before the game... who's gonna shine?

My money's on Gio, Hamr, Pleks, and I'll go out on a limb and say Chips and Moen.

--------------------------------------------------- Pleks for Captain. He proves leadership on the ice every night.

Bill J's picture

While I agree with your candidates. I am wishing a Shut out for Price.

Would be the cherry on the top for him for his confidence and ultimately to silence the detractors.

SmartDog's picture

Not a shutout... but a shutout performance if ever there was one.

--------------------------------------------------- Pleks for Captain. He proves leadership on the ice every night.

I thought Price had this title. Another example of why young goalies need time to develop consistency.

Leafs down 3-1 go Flames go lol. Flames were leading 2-0 then the ref gave the Flames a cheap penalty. Hey refs where were you the other night when Pleks got creamed my Phaneuf when he didn't have the puck.

SmartDog's picture

Oy vey!  But the stupid Laffs could be handing the next Crosby or Ovechkin to the dang Bruins.  What a blowhard idiot that Burke is.. so arrogant to think he could turn this team around in one year and it's going to cost him.

--------------------------------------------------- Pleks for Captain. He proves leadership on the ice every night.

Bill J's picture

The ultimate irony of couse, is had he NOT made the Kessel trade & the Loafs had stunk it up as they have been so far.

He likely WOULD have improved the team by next season + would have added a Ontario Top Prospect to the Loafs.

Instead said Ontario top Prospect will be playing for division rivals & already established as a good team the Boston Bruins.

I rub it in the Leaf fan's faces daily at work - but everytime I cringe because DIVISION RIVALS BURKE - YOU DUMB &*##$&%

Chips is a very useful players he can PK and is good on faceoffs. If he with Pyatt and White this could be a very good line. Now Laps better pick up his game or he could be next. White seems to be a very very good skater.

HardHabits's picture

2-1 Bulldogs so far in the 1st!!! Desharnias to Glumac.

SeriousFan09's picture

Desharnis is back? Cool, Bulldogs could use a few new guys with Montreal yanking all their guys upwards.

- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.

... considering Darche is out for 4 weeks or more with a shoulder injury.

good now trade him!

adesbarats's picture

One minute, 30 sec into the TO / Flames game and it's already 2-0 for the Flames!

I'd bet the majority of these boards rather see the Kostitsyn's reunite then Gainey rearranging another failure line between Lapps and boring Hamilton players.

AK46 - Plecs - SK74

CharlieHodgeFan's picture

Is SK actually an interesting Hamilton player?

Nojo's picture

I'd hazard a guess to say that S Kost is finished as a member of the Habs. When a player says he wants out of Montreal his wish is eventually granted. And S Kost did his request rather publically which, I think, means he won't return to the NHL in a HAB's sweater.

Nojo's picture

Gui need only watch Pyatt and White play to see what lacks in his game. INTENSITY and a desire for the puck. It appears that GUI is just a little too comfortable. When he went after Komisarek in the last game against Toronto he showed some spirit but as fast as it came it was soon gone from his game.

I'm so happy Gui Lagarbage isn't in the lineup. now maybe I can stop shaking my head at his mistakes during the game.

JIMVINNY's picture

So with Gomez, Cammy, Pleks, Lapierre, Pyatt, Metro, and Chips in the lineup, of 12 forwards, 7 are centers.  Guess there shouldn't be any excuses for losing faceoffs, right?  I mean, every center should feel free to cheat a little bit, because chances are that there will be another center on the ice to take the faceoff should they get kicked out.

koivuisgod's picture

i see where you're coming from but i'll never forget the time last season when kovalev was the second guy waived from the faceoff and we were assessed a delay of game penalty.

Ian Cobb's picture

Good point Jim.

I would love to see Metro up on the 1st or 2nd line. He is a well oiled hockey player.

SUMMIT PRIZE DONATIONS WELL EXCEED LAST YEAR!

Everyone Welcome, Next Week End

2009 Habs Inside Out Fan Summit

Itinerary for Nov. 20th to 22nd.

Is posted on the Summit tab at the top of the page

Eliisa's picture

I posted this once already - but I think everyone was done with that article, so I will ask again and hope for a reply :)

Obviously I have missed something, forgive me for my ignorance. What exactly is this Fan Summit? Is it an annual gathering? It sounds rather exciting...

Mind you, if SmartDog had his way perhaps this is not something a sweet young lady like myself should attend (tongue in cheek) ;).

Ian Cobb's picture

Eliisa from Revelstoke, been there, lots of snow there. 40 years ago lived in your neighborhood , Vernon.

Go to Summit tab at the top of this page. Add your 2 cents on here, wecome aboard.

Eliisa's picture

Thank you for the welcome, since finding this site last year I have been glued. It's fantastic.

Vernon eh? What a move. That is very close, and yes we get a ton of snow - which is good since we have a huge new ski hill development (most vertical feet in North America).

Anyway, I am going to come to Montreal sometime next season to take in a couple of games - it would be fun to attend this summit then, and my schedule is flexible. How far in advance are the dates available? I will make sure to check out the summit site! Thanks a lot.

SmartDog's picture

...It's an annual pilgrimage where HIO posters attend a game together (Sat night against the Red Wings), and other scheduled events... see the summit link above for hte schedule.  People come from all over - I'll be comign from Halifax.

And you couldn't be more wrong!  SmartDog is all for young women at the Summit!

Golly SmartDog, you sure are welcoming.

Haha, sounds like a fun time. I will have to check it out.

Bill J's picture

You Sly Dog you ;) lol

SmartDog's picture

If I'm gonna get a reputation, at least it should be accurate. ;)

Look at the top of the thread for the link labelled "SUMMIT" and you should find loads of info on the Yearly (I believe) gathering.

Eliisa's picture

How that link has eluded me thus far I am not sure. Thanks a lot for your help Bill, it is greatly appreciated!

So, who should sit?

I'm a GL defender, but AK has both a bigger track record and an easily identified problem (2.7% shooting) that is not the result of bad play and can only be fixed by keeping at it.

Lats also has a track record, but that seems to have bought him no respect whatsoever. I'd point fingers at the org's crush for MaxPac, if I were you. Maybe he'll pull on later on and pull a Lats, we'll see.

FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a God and not a GUI....

Robert L's picture

I have a question for the local Montrealer's on the site. The Canadian Press has asked me to come up with a list of Montreal hot spots, hockey related and perhaps historically significant that would comprise a guide of must see/must do places/things for out of town Habs fans to visit on a trip to town. Not being from Montreal myself, I'd feel more comfortable doing this with some imput from the locals.

I'm thinking some former player taverns, arena's named after players, historical hockey sites, things of a general interest to a fan who might be making a first trip to the city.

Let me know if you can help.

I almost forgot - Mike Bossy's steakhouse. GREAT steak... and a lot of hockey stuff on display.

Can't remember which arena currently holds the Banners (thought it was the Mount Royal Arena)

Another spot to visit Stanley Cup Banners without having to pay $100+ dollars. (I believe the Wanderers & Maroons Banners hang in that arena)

;)

Bill J's picture

HERE is the Stromboulopoulos Special (from last year) I was speaking about (below)

Look at 1:28 into the Clip

I suspect THIS is the Arena those banners are located in.

fbkj's picture

"I suspect THIS is the Arena those banners are located in."

you suspect correct

Robert L's picture

It burned years ago. It's now a Provigo. None of the Habs former Arenas are standing other than the Forum, which is now that cheesy mall and theatre. Desacration!

fbkj's picture

wikipedia says its location is now plaza alexis nihon... which is right across the street from the forum...

is this right?

Bill J's picture

ARGH!. Sorry double post

Bill J's picture

I seem to remember a George Stromoulopoulos Special where he was actually in a arena with all the Banners of the "other" Montreal Hockey teams who had won the cup.

I wish I could remember the name of it.

fbkj's picture

westmount arena

Bill J's picture

Yeah it's a bit confusing because this version is actually a "new" version of a Burnt down one.

two Arena's that burnt down - Mount Royal & the 1st Westmount arena.

thus my confusion at the location of said banners.

Thanks for confirming it - forced me to research a bit to confirm it :)

So all in all a cool spot to visit in Montreal :)

fbkj's picture

ive never even been... and i used to live in westmount...

me go feel shame now

Bill J's picture

I grew up in Westmount - but only found out about it last year on the Strombo special.  My excuse is I was 12 when I left Montreal, :P

fbkj's picture

my excuse was i was partying too hard when i was living in westmount ;)

Robert L's picture

I've heard that they are supposed to move such non Habs history in the Bell Centre Museum, banners etc. I've also heard and read about a supposed (in door?) hockey Walk of Fame

I know that the son of former Canadiens' player Leo Bourgault helped conceptualize the design, but is there any Habs relate memorabilia there that would make it of interest to a visitor from out of town?

The place crossed my mind, but I've never been there.

I know that it is the world's first 4-plex hockey arena.

You can't go to Montreal without going to the Peel Pub.

if you LIKE recycled beer, recycled spaghetti and the strange absense of pigeons in the area on wing nite, then yes, peel pub is a must!
