Glen Metropolit celebrates goal scored last week in Phoenix.

"I won the lottery."
That's the way Glen Metropolit described the latest line changes in preparation for the Canadiens' visit to Washington tomorrow. Metro, who played right wing on the top line earlier this week against Carolina, is back at centre on the fourth line and he will have Georges Laraque and Tom Pyatt on his wings.
Travis Moen will join Scott Gomez and Mike Cammalleri on the top line while Ryan White will join Guillaume Latendresse and Maxim Lapierre on the third line. Carey Price will start in goal.
Greg Stewart has been to Hamilton for a two-week conditioning assignment.
I hope JM pairs up Spacek alongside O'Byrne, just so the former can finally play on his natural left side.
Quote of the day:
"Now, they have 30th place in the league all to themselves."
TSN on the leafs latest loss to the Carolina Hurricanes after blowing a 3 goal lead
Hey, just goes to show that things could be worse, we could be last in the league and not even own our 1st round draft pick (For the next 2 years for the record)
I hope everyone has a great time at the summit, and the best way to ensure that is a big Habs win!!!! Someone drink a few brews and curse the refs for me!!!
GO HABS GO!!!!
The last time the leafs won the cup it was still just a bowl!!
So whats the deal with AVTSIN? this guy ever going to show up?
Finishing out his required army service in Russia and is currently being bounced between MHK Dynamo and Moscow Dynamo so he hasn't had a lot of stability. He has stated he would like to come over next year, his CHL rights belong to the Montreal Juniors after they were acquired from the Quebec Ramparts.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
I hope you all have a fantastic time at the summit this weekend! Make sure you cheer extra loud for me too. Go Habs Go! :)

i bet travis moen never thought he'd be playing on the first line
7-1 now, does anyone doubt that Calgary is going to be out in the first round again?

Watching this Chicago team tonight, the main difference I see is simply passing. These guys can pass the puck so perfectly together. They have finishing ability, sure, but the passing is what makes it so easy to finish. In all three zones they make the exact right choices, weighing risk and reward with their crisp passes, it's beautiful hockey.

Passing is the most important part of the new NHL in my opinion. The last few years when Detroit dominated possession like the Red Army, it was because there passing was tape to tape every single time. I've been talking my friends ears off that the Habs should practice passing for a whole practice every time we play poorly.
I agree, and when I think back a couple years to when the Habs finished on top of the East I remember the passing the most. They would control in the offensive zone so well because the passing was out of this world. I don't know how they could do it so well one year and then lose it completely the next.

bobo didn't want to resign streit
I agree too.. Kovy was a blast to watch that year. Hawks definately pass well, and its nice to watch
If anyone can answer your question, I'd like to meet them. Especially when we added another elite passer in Tanguay.

You guys with your real faces on here tonight has caused my security to unarm and crash somehow. With no security I better get off of this thing until somebody shows me how to restore what I had before this change was made in error by me. But I still think that face of Chuck scared my computer system.!
Hey! You owe me a beer for that one, Ian! :)

6-1 Hawks against Flames...5 goals against Kiprusoff in the 2nd period...Wow..
So I take that these are summit folks real pictures so that they can all identify each other? Kudos.
This is actually a pic of some old fart who lives on my street...literally ON my street. I am, in fact, a young, intelligent, handsome, athletic guy with a shoulder tattoo that reads "Death Before Dishonour". And I'm a 3 handicap. ;)
That's ok Dave. I am also not what I look like on the picture. Rumor has it that I am a rather large brazilian woman.
I would really love to see that....!! LOL
----- Go Habs f*kin Go - AMEN!!! -----
Your wish is granted.
That's timo with his back to ya and his shizz all hangin' out.
Note to self: Never drink hot tea over your laptop when reading a Timo post...lesson learned. LOL
I can attest to that, I met young Dave this summer in Brossard.
And how you do you expect to get in to the bar tomorrow night Mr. Cobb? Better bring that fake ID 'cause you're bound to be carded at the door.
Smartdog's idea.

Must be. You'll have to be extra rude tomorrow to all the Calgary fans, they're getting absolutely smoked.

not a problem
Chicago continues to make Calgary their whipping boy since the Playoffs last year and "the Comeback", 4-1 in the 2nd period with 3 minutes remaining.
Hawks are a pleasure to watch as always.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
Game update, the Young Guns have a 6-1 lead over the Flames over 40 minutes, the last two being PP goals less than 25 seconds apart by Kane and Versteeg on a 5-on-3, than 5-on-4 situations. their PP unit is white-hot with 4 goals on the night.
Their speed is blinding, their youthful energy and creativity has the makings of a very strong Cup run.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
Their defensive corp might be one of the best one in the league...
Cam Barker, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Campbell...Holy cow....
And Hossa isn't even playing yet. However Hossa being on the team ensures that they'll lose in the cup finals.

Anyone want tickets to the game tuesday?? cost price. reds. i stumbled upon an extra pair
I have my wife prepare a "BGL" platter before I head out to pickup these days. Just looking at all those vegetables pisses me off!
FYI. Chris Aung-Thwin has posted a new thread on the sidebar, The Other Wing. Well worth the time.
It was a very good read.
Thanks for the heads up Steve, I never remember to check The Other Wing.

Some jokes...to lighten up a good Thursday night.
Third best joke of the night:
Yo Moma So Poor when I rang her doorbell, SHE said 'Ding-Dong'
Second best:
Yo mama so fat NASA has to orbit a satellite around her
Bets of the night: What do the Leafs and a furnace have in common? They both belong in the basement!
Let's see if anyone can top these...
LOL! The Toskala one is epic!
Reports coming in that the Toronto Maple Leafs are having trouble getting access to their email accounts, it seems they can't put 3 w's together.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
Hahahaha nice one bud! Good one. ;)
Hey Fellow Habs!!!
Nashville Preds beat San Jose and New Jersy this week. NOW I feel better with that lose last weekend.
NICE!
Wow. Yeah, that does make a difference. It's too bad their coming out party had to start against us, however.
It does for all teams that were in a slump.
How true. We're a great team to play when in a slump, when short players, to play your back-up against, at home, on the road, to try out a rookie against, and also, if you're on a winning streak and want to keep it going.
a gift that keeps on giving
Comment that made me laugh! After the Leafs scored to go up 5-4 with 20 seconds left, Pierre McGuire: "Looking at the leafs bench would have thought they'd won Stanley Cup Game 7!" Really Pierre? And they lose the game. Not to mention how much of a monster fail their goalie was!
And on the tsn story: "With the loss, Toronto finds itself in sole possession of last place in the NHL." How do make that sound like so much of an achievement?"
"All you need in hockey is good character, luck and skills" - Ovie
That would be a good thing if they held on to their first round pick in the upcoming draft.
LOL. The funniest part is that they can't add in the customary "and in doing so, are already positioning themselves for an excellent shot at a lottery pick come next June."
A friend of mine who's a Leafs fan is ready to go postal on that team.

In other news, Brian Burke is trying to trade Kessel back to Boston to get their picks back!!!
Hahaha yeah it wouldn't work backwards at all would it? Even though Boston needs scoring.

Why? Did he have different expectations?
See... like me, i was going into this season with the expectations that the Habs will do worse than last season. So far I am just happy about the fact that I was right :)
He fell for Burke's crap hook line and sinker. He thought they might actually be a playoff team with the defense "upgrades". About your expectations, how are we worse than last year? Last year was 0-7-1 without Markov, this year we're 10-11-0.

Things that'll probably never happen in our lifetime:
#1) Habs play Leafs in a playoff series!!!
Tell the truth, you just want to "go postal!"
Stubbs doesn't let me...
Like a parole officer, do you have to check in monthly?
I am afraid I am being constantly monitored. It's like living under a microscope
BALLS is on to you boyo!
Not to usurp Duane but...
FINALLY...LARAQUE.HAS.COME.BACK!
TO THE CANADIENS' LINEUP!

or something.

There has to be a way of packaging BGL and Gomez to make them attractive to another team. Crap, the guys on Mad Men would be all over this like stink on a skunk.
All we need to do with BGL is tell him that the other team's goons run puppy mills, since he seems more interested in animal rights than delivering his Fist of Justice that might be a way to provoke some fire in his perfromance. Photoshop Lucic kicking some kittens and you're set for the next Boston game.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu.
Uh, Mad Men is a TV show, not reality. The Habs are...no...wait.
Leafs go back to 15th place in the conference..I would be so goddamn happy (probably the happiest man on Earth) but I am really pissed off at Brian Burke right now.
No team can seriously suck this much, I swear they're purposely helping out Bruins during their time of difficulties! Rask trade..Kessel trade..
Not only Brian Burke took down his own team into the basement, but that joker has taken us down with him. If Bruins get some sort of Ovechkin...God damn it. Burke = Bruins real GM in disguise.
Long Live the Laffs...Cheers!
Yes, but the alternative to the Bruins getting the #1 pick would have been the Leafs getting the #1 pick. I'll go with Boston. Not because I hate them less, but because I hate their fans less. Can you imagine if the Leafs got someone who was actually really good? There would never be anything else on TV. The CBC would replace their entire prime-time line-up with Leafs coverage.
Full Breezer 4 Life
Amen to that!
I wonder what Wilson has to say this time after blowing a big lead and then a lead with a few seconds to go.
"They bring nothin but pain into my life" - My roomate talking about his beloved Leafs.
I laughed so hard when he said it, but then I have to pinch myself and remember the more the Laffs lose, the closer the Bruins are to Taylor Hall.
boy, Chiarelli's gonna look like a genius then! and Burke will turn deep purple
The Bs with good GM work could be really scary. They have I think nine first and second round picks over the next three years.
Hey Summiteers!
Have a great time over the weekend. There is little doubt that you will.
Get your mugs on TV.
Thanks $0.02. Not attending?
He can't. The warrants haven't expired yet.
Sure they have... long time ago.
Have a blast, Dave.
A good friend of mine will be there too. Celebrating(in advance) his dissertation defence.
I'll tell him to keep his eye out for a pack of nut bars.
I refuse to be associated with any such riffraff. Tell him I'll be the sober one, standing in the corner, with the lampshade on my head.
Will you be preparing it in advance... with holes cut out for vision? Don't want to miss the game.
Nah, unfortunately not.
I was there last year and had a great time. Maybe the next.
Sorry to hear that, bud.
I think that I have a problem.
While watching the shootout of the Leaf game, my dog (a German Shepherd) was sitting in front of the TV, watching intently. As soon as the Leafs lost, she looked back at me with the most sorrowful look in her eyes, then lay down, facing away from the TV with her head between her paws.
Could it be that the dog is a Leaf fan? Has living just outside of Toronto corrupted her?

Not to worry, Chuck. Your dog is simply aware of the consequences of a total loaf collapse with regard to Boston and draft picks.
She's just a hand wringing sort of Habs fan.
