Andrei Kostitsyn is a doubtful starter for tonight's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kostitsyn came up limping after he blocked a shot in Tuesday's 5-3 win over Columbus. The Canadiens said a final decision on Kostitsyn's availability will be made beforre game time but the team hedged its bets by calling up David Desharnais from the Hamilton Bulldogs.
The Canadiens were concerned that Desharnais might get hung up with plane connections on the busy U.S. Thanksgiving weekend – you can't get here from there at the best of timees – and they hired a limousine for the six-hour drive from Hamilton to Pittsburgh.
Coach Jacques Martin cancelled the morning skate and gave his battered players a chance to sleep in after flying to Pittsburgh after last night's game at the Bell Centre.
Carey Price will make his seventh consecutive start in goal tonight. He's 4-1-1 in his six previous games with a .929 save percentage and 2.05 goals-against average.
I'm surprised it's the shot block that's keeping him out of the lineup and not that vicious slash by Antoine Vermette.
Couldn't believe the refs missed that double handed slash coming down on AK46, refs sucked last night.
I hear that Gui! is now known as Minnesota Fats!
Go! Habs Go!
Gonna take a perfect game and some good bounces to get a point outta Pittsburgh. I hope the players remember how stupid Pitt made us look last time and BRING IT!
______________________________________________________ Montreal Bulldogs for life..
You must not have watched any Pens games lately. They let in goals like they're tryin to out do the Laffs. Fleury has been a siv so let's hope that keeps up tonight. Agree we will need a good strong game for the full 60 to get the job done but don't think they need to be perfect and some bounces. I think the boys will surprise us again tonight!!
Same here, if we can punch through their depleted D and shower Fleury with alot of rubber, we might stand a chance.
Losers Even After Forty two Seasons
Gonchar is back though!
Gonchar smonchar, we have, ummm, who's playing tonight? :)
Brendan Burke's dad should take a page from his son's brave act. Brian Burke should come out of the closet too, and admit that he is a self-promoting, over-rated, incompetent, big mouthed jackass.
Believe me, the people of Tarranna will understand. After Ballard years, Burke is only following in the master's footsteps.
My prediction 4-2 Pittsburgh tonight.
"We will win the Cup one day only with a mature Carey Price in the nets"
Question is...do you hope to be right or wrong?
:-P

"We will win the Cup one day only with a mature Carey Price in the nets"
I KNEW it... I bleepin' KNEW it...
Every time a player gets on a roll of good play for the Habs, he gets injured. Look at Higgins a few years back, look at Plekanec at the beginning of last season, look at Lang 3/4 of the way through last season... Hopefully AK will be okay.
I'm just waiting for Pleks and Squid to go down...
On the good side, we got rid of LaFatty. God, I love that.
---Hope Springs Eternal---
...gotta love the bleepin' Squid...
so allan muir is suggesting that team will be inforcing a no composite stick rule during certain parts of the game pk and lead protection at the end of the game, as well as it being a cost saving plan for teams he said that some team are spending 500k plus on sticks per year that is alot of money on sticks u think the molsons couls ask Gomez to pay for some of them?????

God bless Guy Boucher and the Hamilton Bulldogs for teaching our players how to compete!
In all fairness, I think Don Lever did a pretty good job.
The extent of Don Lever's accomplishments can be summed up as follows;
-Not too vehemently protesting Carey Price being put in net for the bulldogs playoff run.
That Calder Cup bought Lever an extra couple of seasons, seasons he probably didn't deserve.
I think Pouliot for latendresse is going to turn out a great trade. You can see Pouliot has the body for the nhl, tall, quick and skilled, just needs to put in the effort, but the ceiling with him is 20x higher than latendresse, who simply was never fast enough to be a good scorer or grinder even
I just watched Ben Pouliots interview on TSN. I got a feeling this guy is itching for a rebirth in the city he dreamed of playing.
I thought the same thing.
can someone give me a good link online for tonights game please?
I think tonight is gonna be really tough. I think if Price continues his very solid play, brilliant saves during this span aswell, and doesn't give up a goal he shouldn't we will win. So in other words it's like every other night. But tonight I have a feeling after watching Sergei play the last game, he will get some time with either pleks or cammy at some point in the game and pay dividends.
Bet Bob has the bulldogs on speed dial and may be adding the Cincinnati Cyclones as we speak. Just checked their site as homage to the sitcom WKRP, they are having a turkey drop tonight. $1 beers !!!
Elmer Lach's #16 jersey should join the Rocket's #9 in the rafters.
With BGL's comments abuot his suspension do you think e culd appeal tot he league and ask for a lengthened suspension as he is implying bias? could buy us some more time? Maybe the media should do their best to pound away at this issue and see if BGl can slip, play it for all the world to hear and voila! suspension and a chance to use his spot for a hockey player.....
This really is starting to look a lot like the season Theodore won the Hart while the rest of the team won Purple Hearts.
hahaha. I gotta say Ladies and Gents, regardless of the injuries, i'm loving the optimism on here. It makes this sight much more enjoyable... It's like a comedy act and everyone is bringing their best material... seriously loving it.
PS: Keep the Latendresse jokes coming. Gold.
When are the walking wounded supposed to start coming back to the lineup?
Who are the Dogs replacing bodies from?
Once a Habs fan, always a Habs fan
The Dogs have signed two players to 25 game PTO contracts and added another AHL vet to a minor league contract. The only player in Cincinnati is the #5 goaltender Robert Mayer.
Walking wounded, not sure. Three are day to day, D'ags??, Gill & Giota mid month at best.
Cincinnati I would guess.
Elmer Lach's #16 jersey should join the Rocket's #9 in the rafters.
apparently some HIO posters have been called up!

i'm taking desharnais' place tonight. boucher's looking for size, and i actually look tall next to him!
on an entirely different note ... a possible change in Habs Management style ... according to La Presse ... the Habs may negotiate with Plekanek during the course of this season ... wow ... en francais of course.
http://www.cyberpresse.ca/sports/hockey/200911/25/01-924898-gainey-pourrait-negocier-avec-plekanec-avant-lete.php
so is Ben Maxwell the forgotten man here?
I know Desharnais has been playin great, but it seems like everyone been's called up except for him?
Is he injured or not playing too great?
or they just wanna see other guys, whats the deal
Maxwell is underperforming a bit. I think more was expected of him in his seecond AHL season 20 games in than 3 goals and being a minus player.

For those who don't know Jeff he is the troll that loves the Laffs. His favorite wine (whine!!!) is Cherry.
Just finished listening to another 2 hour rant on the Toronto Fan 590 sports station on what the Laffs need to do. Did you know they have a ton of hockey experts here in Toronto. What a great place to live, you can learn so much from these guys! Perhaps if BG gets fired they could hire Doug McLean he sure sounds like he knows what the Habs need to do. Actually, that discussion on the Habs lasted 1 minute the other time was spent whining about how the Laffs are getting jobbed. Funny how no one in the Laff butt kissing sports media is calling for Burke or Wilson's heads. The media is afraid of them. They both should be fired...maybe not we need them to stay and continue to screw up.
The lack of bodies on this team is insane. Even the trade left us short a player for this week anyway.
GO HABS...
your comment would insinuate that Gui was a hockey player!
Way I figure it, with an anchor like Gui gone, it's like gaining two healthy bodies...
The Gui shots on here today are absolutely priceless!
If you've ever seen Muller run a practice, I would if Kirk could lace up the skates for a few games to fill in as that BIG center we need.
Eeh Guidoune, que' es en haut mon chum??!? Bye bye Guidoune, mon cowboy.
I'm really digging Guidoune being gome. Thank you, eh.
If Andrei is injured, I guess the line-up iced during the first game is injured?
Andrei - Gomez - Gionta
Markov - Spacek
I think Cammalleri started on that line. Andrei started with Plekanec and I can't remember.
Let's just pretend Andrei started on that line lol.
Don't forget: Laraque - D'Agostini - Pouliot
Metropolit's Fu Manchu moustache are in, like Roy's mullet for the 90s
Don't forget to add Gill to the lineup.
And Gill
This is a hard decision: Block a shot and get injured, or let Price get outshoted?
Metropolit's Fu Manchu moustache are in, like Roy's mullet for the 90s
for me that a no brainer, get the puck out of the way :)
The Wild fans have already come up with a new nickname for Latendresse: "Fatty".
Don't forget the "La" in front of the nickname: "LaFatty"
Metropolit's Fu Manchu moustache are in, like Roy's mullet for the 90s
LaFatty hahahahaha thats golden!

Lats is having a VISA problem and might have to wait a few days to get there. LOL
Yeah, it's supposed to be a work-related visa, but then they saw him practice.
Why does everybody think it's work VISA related? It's probably his credit card...over limit, can't put his flight to Minn on it.
maybe he is having a hard time convincing US Customs that he's a hockey player? when asked for proof he gave them his stats!!
Good one!!
ROFLMAO
Once a Habs fan, always a Habs fan
" Me Gui, 2nd line player. I score 16 goals....don't hit, cant make pass, don't do what coach say me to...Dey say I have a Visa problem so I try to use Mastercard....Gui no understand...Gui second line player..."
Being a Canadian living and working in the US I understand visa problems. This one probably stems from the fact that for job requiring certain skill sets they have to porve there isn't someone else in a 50 mile radius who could qualify to do the same job being filled by an imigrant. It is called the "Outstanding (Insert Profession)" rule.
As we are aware there are a lot of high school or university players around the twin cities and proving Lats is the best LW available might be tough.
If that is the case he will never get a VISA. Doesn't the state of Minny have the best high school hockey system?
Lafatty did not pass to be a teacher and his Visa was not approved as a result of him not recieving any outlet passes from school.......
"As we are aware there are a lot of high school or university players around the twin cities and proving Lats is the best LW available might be tough.'
hahahaha well played sir
Typical Lats, beeeeiiiinnnggg ssslllowww....
"A month before the season I stop putting ketchup on my french fries." -Mario Lemieux on his off-season training.
Cammy - Pleks - MaxPac
Moen - Metro - Pyatt
SK74 - Laps - White
Desharnais - Chips - Wyman
...Ouch
Cammy - Pleks - SK74
Moen - Metro - MaxPac
Pyatt - Laps - White
Desharnais - Chips - Wyman
man that is a pretty hurting second line.
You sir, are correct.
"A month before the season I stop putting ketchup on my french fries." -Mario Lemieux on his off-season training.
Perhaps swap SK74 for MaxPac because SK hasn't earned it.
Very true, but I Pacioretty has played so well with Metro and Moen. If we can change as few lines as possible to keep some stability it's likely a better decision.

SK74 has had some success with Pleks before.
smurf city! is it asking to much to get a player with height? I guess next Gainey is ordering high chairs.
They had one, that could body check too, if you missed it, it's the guy everyone's celebrating to see go to Minnesota for another injured head case.
Nahlsy, i have a feeling we are all going to be happy with the trade once Big Ben gets on the ice.
surprisngly (compared to prev yrs) - desharnais is the exception; take out MAb and all the other additions are over 6' - leach 6'4, sk and white and pyatt all listed at 6', pouliot 6'3" . Long as they play big, that's all i care about.
"Big Ben" Pouliot is 6'3
Watching th Habs get hosed on penalties every game is really starting to wear me down.
They all go to the Terry Fraser School of Reffing
Once a Habs fan, always a Habs fan
He's been screwing the Habs for as long as I can remember. Whenever I see him on the crew for the Habs came I figure the team will need to score at least 3 goals to offset all of the BS power plays for the opposition. It's Kerry Fraser.
Yup, typo....
Once a Habs fan, always a Habs fan
Its mostly at the Bell Center. How do refs work? Are they placed by region generally? Are we constantly getting the same refs at the BC, because its actually getting out of control.
Ill be the first to admit when we get away with penalties, but last night we might have gotten away with 1 or 2, where columbus basically had carte blance to do as they pleased.
You have got to be kidding me. I love Desharnais and I'm glad he's finally getting his chance, but seriously? ANOTHER injury? There's not way any team in the league is as beat up as Montreal right now.

Habs are in first place for injuries in the NHL.
Can't say I'm surprised, this is getting ridiculous. How many games in a row have we lost a player now? Kostitsyn last night, Spacek against Detroit, Gomez against Washington.... Grrr.

Can we handle anyone else getting injured?
