The Canadiens return to practice in Brossard this morning following last night's too-close 5-4 shootout win over the lowly but very game Edmonton Oilers. The Habs are scheduled to hit the ice at 11:30 a.m. in a practice that, as usual, is open to the public.
The Boston Bruins, meanwhile, will hold a practice of their own at 1 p.m. at the downtown Bell Centre; that's not open to the public.
Locked in a playoff-berth battle, the Canadiens play host to the Bruins tomorrow night.
Questions surely to be asked of head coach Jacques Martin today: Who gets the start in goal (he surely won't answer that until tomorrow), and where does centreman Maxim Lapierre, returning tomorrow following a four-game suspension, fit into a lineup that has now won four straight games and seeks a season-high five against the Bruins?
As our spiritual leader Red Fisher might say: Stay tuned.
Price vs BOS? or give them to Halak this time?
I have no preference, although Price makes BOS his bitches MOST of the time.
I think SK is going to be Martin's secret PP weapon with Cammalleri...I want Sergei to be great, I like the kid alot.
Yes it is true , this comment section is now CRAP. I joined two years ago or more and mostly just read. I used to enjoy big birds (remember him) few cents from the peanut gallery after every game and a few others whose names i cannot recall. Even though i didnt always agree with them, they made some good and insightful posts.
I consider myself a saucy bastard and even i cannot be bothered to sift through the garbage to find the odd good post. The whole team halak vs team price is pathetic. They should have seperate forums for halak fans, price fans, tanking fan, and normal fans. You know the ones who want the team to win no matter who is playing? It has been the same crap all year and it is killing the site.
So now i find it better to follow stubbs on twitter, and just to read the posts on here. You guys used to have the inside scoop and all the info a guy could need. Now mostly plain old crap.
I just joined this site a couple of weeks ago and I'm surprised at a lot of negativity. Especially regarding our goaltenders. A lot of teams are envious of us having two young guys that can steal a game for our team on any given night, and both of them have done that several times this season. Everyone is demanding a # 1 and IMO we are better off with both of them playing, both of them keeping sharp, and going with the one that is playing best in early April for the playoffs and having confidence in the other one if he is needed. Neither one of them should be playing 4 or 5 in a row ( and I admit I am a Price fan but realize Halak is playing very well too). What I see is that when one of them sits for a while, when they get their chance to play, they play well sometimes standing on their heads. They do this for 2, maybe 3 games, and then have a questionable one. Keep them both playing and competing with each other and we should have 2 sharp and confident tenders for the playoffs. A goalies ability never changes, the reason he either stands on his head or sucks is simply because of his confidence. Stop bashing the kids, we need them both to be successful.
th
I will be echoing V's post as this will be my last missive on this blog. The flaming of everyone, see "Dude are you wearing a cardigan sweater and smoking a pipe" as a response to V's intelligent and uninflammatory post is the final straw. If the moderators can delete me great, if not I will not post here further. Sadly as a Toronto Hab fan I look for places where intelligent fan dialogue can exist and last year I LOVED this site. The coversations were lively and intelligent and full of info us Toronto guys just can't get. This year sadly this site has deteriorated and I no longer wish to be associated with the current level of activity. Thank you all for the opportunity to have chatted with you.
I have an idea to improve this site:
Have a button on every post that we can click to indicate inappropriate posts. Click "inappropriate" for anything incendiary, truly uninteresting, or unrelated to hockey. Then, automatically, that post is removed with, say, 10 clicks. A poster who is constantly clicked off - say 10 times - has his privilege removed and can no longer post.
Of course, an ousted poster could take on a new name and return to start all over again. It's not perfect, but it's an idea. I would love to bring this site back to intelligent discussions.
They tried that with youtube videos, sadly it doesn't work. All that happens is that you get a bunch of trolls making multiple accounts and going on flagging campaigns against people who have something to bring to the site. Every good comment would be deleted if that change was put in.
I guess I could see that happening. But say you have to be logged in to click. And you only get one click per post. Given that the majority of posters here are sensible people, don't you think it could work?
Something has to be done...
Play Price, Halak is tired. Max replaces Maxwell. Metro and Moore are doing well at centre so play Max on the wing.
Any more questions?
out of curiosity did halak tell you or the media he is/was tired?
He let in 4 goals on 26 shots yesterday. Two of them looked weak. Also he went to the Olympics, made it to the bronze-medal game, travelled a lot...
Nobody told me, it is my opinion.
i think he just had an off night, these things happen. the whole team looked off.
You may be right (I may be crazy).
"But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for..."
Go Habs Go
nothing wrong with crazy
Price owns the Bruins, so he should start. Halak gave up 4 goals on 25 shots vs. the Oilers......thank God his name was not Price cuz everybody wud've run him outta town last night.
Brian Burke = Overrated Loud Mouth POS
Price is already run out of town. he just don't know it yet!
For what it's worth, this is my last post on this website. If I can I'll be closing my account. In any event I won't be engaging in dialogue here.
I have not been nearly as active as many others - just celebrated one year on the site with about 200 posts - so it's no big loss from a volume perspective by any means. And others certainly have a better understanding of hockey.
But one thing I do know is teams... write, speak, practice and lead a national firm dedicated to building high performance teams. As a result, in every post I have tried to be as positive and respectful of the team and it's players as possible - every single post - because research and practice clearly indicate positivity makes a huge difference in performance. Within reason, more positivity yields higher performance and I have always felt on this site in particular a consistent voice for positivity was needed to balance the negativity and lack of respect some (often too many) here have for the team and it's players.
So today I post something about SK's efforts to turn his career around and the first response I get to the post is so lame and derogatory to the player - so patently off the point - that I realize I just don't want to do this with people like that anymore.
There are sites out there - H Does Not Stand for Habs, Lions in Winter, Daily Habit to name 3 good ones - where you can actually have an intelligent and positive (mostly) dialogue about the team. Unlike here, the people running those sites don't let the people ruining this site post there.
Look forward to talking further with any of you who make your way there. Go Habs go.
Maybe this is a generational thing? I find HIO no better or worse than any other open forum site. Anyone expecting politeness and decorum on a site like this is out of touch.
Anonymity usually results in a lot of bullying and baiting. The best course is to ignore, and practice selective reading.
ps I enjoy J.T. and think she is a phenomenal writer but I much prefer the open give and take of HIO to her censored forum.....I will take insults and the occasional boorish behavior over censorship any day
"I find HIO no better or worse than any other open forum site"
EXACTLY! It used to be a lot better than other open forums. You're among the posters being constantly negative and incendiary, thereby reducing the quality of this site.
As I indicated above I ignore the posters who are simply here to insult and denigrate others. YOU fall into this category.
I suggest you simply ignore my "negative and incendiary" comments.
Ps your first reply to one of my comments was insulting...I call that incendiary
I have noticed a degradation in the intelligence and relevance of commentary on HIO myself and you are one of the perpetrators of the overall decline.
Dude.....by any chance are you wearing a cardigan sweater and smoking a pipe?
Brian Burke = Overrated Loud Mouth POS
Sorry to be losing your positive contributions here V. We need all the help we can get. Maybe I will see you on some of those other sites.
While your writing "this will be my last post" is a little dramatic, overall, I agree with you. I find that in just the past 6 months, there is a large increase in the number of people who write constantly negative comments on here. A real fan does not spend his time cutting down his team. I think many are just looking for reactions. Unfortunately, this childish behaviour really decreases the value and interest in Habs I/O.
I find that more and more, I read the editorials and skip the comments. Originally I loved the good discussions that could be had in the comments section. The format - where you answer a specific post and keep a thread going - is really great for that.
I also can't imagine what the "people running this site" can do to control this behaviour. Short of banning all the annoying posters - who defines this, anyhow? - there is no evident control over this.
I feel I'm losing a friend in Habs I/O.
I also took time off from reading the comments and just following the posts from the guys. Unfortunately thought maybe I would read some of them yesterday......bad idea. Will go back to only reading Boone, Hickey, Stubbs etc.
sorry your feeling were hurt....grow up!
Jesus Christ you drama queen! Give it a rest!
I disagree. Jesus is not a drama queen.
Habs were lucky to pull that one out. Halak was great in the shootout but WEAK in regulation. Price next game?

One question many Habs fans including myself would like asked is why, Sergei never gets a Power Play time.
Is it a case of him still being in the doghouse? or a case of Martin not believing in his abilities?
On a totally another note, It is very commendable that HIO is taking a leap into supporting mobile access, and I do understand that this is a work in progress (Rome was not built in one day), can I at least make few suggestions to help the mobile fans in the interim? after all this is all done to make our access better.
Not all features of the site are currently available on the mobile version (most importantly, login, comments, puckcats, the other wing ...), please please, until such time could you at least provide a link to the non-mobile site instead of forcing the limited mobile version on to users?
This one is also very annoying, and many many mobile access providers fail to realize it or understand the importance of it. When a link is accessed through the RSS feed or a twitter feed, mobile users are not redirected to the actual link but instead are sent to the mobile home page.
That is truly annoying, it practically makes the RSS and twit feeds rather useless.
Thanks to all of the HIO crew that is always looking into ways of making this place better.
I think my response to your question re SK and the power play would be, who do you remove? Pleks and Gomez are better playmakers than SKost, and Gionta and AKost are better snipers. The only other role for a forward on the PP is to muck up the crease and bother the goalie, and I would say Pouliot, Metro and Darche are better than SKost at that. You could try him at the point, maybe replacing Gorges on the second wave, but then you are losing defensive ability replacing a d-man with an out-of-position forward. I don't think SKost would be an upgrade on Markov or Hamrlik, maybe Spatch but Spatch does shoot from the point and SKost looks to pass first.
SK can easily replace Gorges and Spatch, he has excellent passing skills, sees the ice well and probably is the best at it after Marky.
To add to it, has a good shot too, when he chooses not to pass. I know he can't replace Spatch or Gorges defensively, but he's not bad either.
Moore has impressed me - he has pushed Laps further down the depth chart.
I would have liked to see White called up if the intent was to play the recall on the 4th line. Maxwell should have been given a shot on the second line once called up - he's either a top 2 line NHL player or not an NHLer.
Duplicate.
"Simple Jack's Not So Simple Thaughts On Last Night's Game":
1- Bloody Lip: Good for you Scotty G, got smacked in the face worse than Russian prostitute last night and didn't even miss a shift. Your reward? Gionta's goal celebration caught by the camera's with your bloody mouth smiling. Keep it up Gomer, your coming around just fine.
2- 9-1-1: If our ambulance workers would answer the bell with as much urgency as the Habs played with last night, wounded MTL citizens wouldn't have a fighting chance. Glad we got the 2 points, but we didn't look like a team that wanted them. We had two 5 on 3's and a powerplay in OT, and never looked dangerous. Trying to be too fancy, as if we had already clinched a playoff spot.
3- Shoot-OUT: It was also a lackluster performance by our Habbies in the shootout last night. Luckily for us, the Oilers' shooters were keeping the puck OUT of OUR net. Twice they had Halak down and out with a chance to seal the win, and either shot on his pad or missed open nets wide. Oily/slippery stick tape, maybe?
4- Moore please: Dominic Moore seems to be one of the most consistent hard working players we've dressed this year, never taking a shift off. Maybe he has 6 Red Bull's before the game, or maybe he's proud of the logo on his chest. Whatever it is we want Moore of our Habs to play like this, please.
5- Mushy Prunes: Looking ahead to out tilt vs the Prunes tomorrow night, it has become the biggest game of the season. People will say otherwise, but with the games in hand they hold on us and only 2 pts behind, we could pull 4pts ahead with a win in regulation. This would force the Prunes to have to get 5 out of 6 points in order to pass us in the race. Let's get it done boys, Boston isn't looking too convincing lately even though they scored 5 goals yesterday on arguably on of the bottom 5 starting goalies in the league.
Your thaughts?
"These head movies make my eyes rain" -Simple Jack
I missed the game last night so I can't comment on 1-3 but I definitely agree with #4. I was really annoyed when I first heard about PG trading a second round draft choice for this guy, but now it doesn't look like such a ridiculous trade.
As for #5, I'd say that there were a few 'most important games of the season' so far (the back to back games against philadelphia struck me as two biggies that the habs blew until that nice recovery over the last two weeks), but this is definitely the latest most important game, followed by Tuesday's match against the Rangers. March 22 against the Sens and April 2 against the Flyers should be good too.
Completely agree re: Domenic Moore - and I think Darche is the same kind of player. I don't think they'll go south in the playoffs either. Something was up last night - maybe the ice was chippy. Pouliot especially had a heck of a time all night getting the puck to settle on his stick. Also agree with your comments on Gomez. He is a gamer - but maybe someone like Darche in front of the net would complement Gomer on the power play - just thinking out loud.
Russian prostitutes never miss a shift, although they are sometimes a bit lazy while working.
Put Lapierre on the 4th line where Maxwell, another natural centerman, was skating.
Maxwell regrettably had a poor showing with the big club. Again, I would have called up White to replace Lapierre.
Just following up on some discussion about SK earlier... with everyone healthy, SK is likely a third line player, even if he plays to his full potential. I look at the 6 top forwards and he is number 7.
If he plays to his full potential - like he is beginning to show signs of lately - imagine what it says about our team to have a guy with his skill set on the 3rd line. There are very few teams in the league who would have that level of skill on their third line... with Moore, that gives us a hell of an edge against a lot of teams.
Might be time to acknowledge the great job the Habs and SK have done in turning his career around and creating this sort of potential weapon for the team.
He sure has talent and speed. You're right - his play and his value have gone way up.
acknowlegded. not everyone can have a 3 goal scorer on their 3rd line
Both young goal tenders will be signed and kept with the club. Neither will command large contracts as they are both starting to learn how to play the game at this level. So I will leave it up to the coaches to determine which style of play from each of them will suit against the different opposition.
Both kids are going to push each other for the net over the next two or three years. Once this team reaches the finals in two years, then and only then can they demand top dollar for their services.
So lets just sit back and watch them develop together, instead of this constant yapping about who should play or not. Different styles of tender to face different styles of opposition is the way the coaches will decide and also go with the hot hand.
By the way, this team is capable of going deep into the play offs THIS year, so enjoy.
Not with Allan Walsh being Jaro's agent and his Twittering publicity for his client and agitation with the Habs management. He's arbitration eligible and if Pekka Rinne can get 6.8 million over the next 2 years for 22 wins in 44 games, you can bet Walsh will demand even better for 21 wins in 34 games for his client. We are not re-signing both of them with the cap space we have, Price's contract with bonuses means we'll have to match his old one and better for his new RFA deal as well. We don't have the cap space to do it Ian, I'd like to continue the goaltender tandem for one more season but it isn't going to work.
All the giant contracts, offer sheets and such to the league's young guns over the past few years have put management in a bind about this.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Price's contract with bonuses means we'll have to match his old one and better for his new RFA deal as well.
To the best of my understanding from raeding the CBA, an RFA who is not eligible for arbitration can be qualified for 110% of his "paragraph 1 salary" or his base salary. And bonuses are only available in entry level contracts and for players over age 35. So IMO, Pierce can be retained for less than a million dollars.
All the giant contracts, offer sheets and such to the league's young guns over the past few years have put management in a bind about this.
As someone else posted yesterday, there have been only 5 offer sheets offered since the new CBA came into effect, all of them skaters. In the entire history of NHL offer sheets I only recognized one goalie's name. So IMO the odds of the Habs getting an offer sheet for one of the goalies seem pretty low.
It is just posturing from another greedy agent leading his client down a poor trail. The reality will set in in time my friend.
If Price's contract with bonuses is 2.25 a year, Canadiens will have to raise him to 2.5 at least and that's just the 10% RFA increase they have to do. Jaroslav Halak will have to be considered for just as much cash, so that's 5 million for goaltending, a 2.75 increase on very little cap space and only 5 forwards under contract. Halak's arbritation eligibility also raises that amount with the Rinne contract in Nashville likely to be used as a yardstick.
I like your general optimism about our future fortunes but keeping both for another season? It isn't going to work. Too much money and Halak's arbitration would kill us on the cap.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
I might be wrong, but I think the qualifying offer is 10% of the base salary. In Price's case , his base is $850,000. So the Habs could, if they chose to - not saying they should - offer him sligthly less than $1M
They'll find a way. Look at Philly, always at the cap yet always finding a way to bring in big $ like Briere and Pronger. The Habs just need to get creative and do it.
Yes but they've handled that by mostly being cheapskates on goaltending, betting it on forwards and defence. Their cap issues are going to hurt them when they go sniffing for a goalie in the off-season, Cobourn is an RFA and most of rest of their D is RFA or UFA besides Timmonen, Pronger and Carle. Everyone's got a cap issue to deal with if they can afford to spend to it, keeping depth across the entire board is nigh-on impossible nowadays.

Can you only imagine the stink in the french media if Lapierre was made a healthy scratch? Benoit Brunet's little heart would explode.
Not happening, Timo. Maxwell was farmed to Hamilton this morning.

Lapierre is still welcome in the balcony though, is he not.
he is not if he doesn't know how to make paper planes.
so bring on the stink ...let him earn a spot
seems to have worked with SK and Martin is not known for using kid gloves on anybody
Ay, ay, ay.
Who here on HIO is interested to see a FWD in our lineup with: 66 GP 6 G 6 A and is +/- (-13)

He can come and get suspended again! ;)
"I gotta a feeling...that tonight's gonna be a good night!"
I agree - when Gui left they should have sent Lappy somewhere too...many wondered who was carrying who out there all those shifts together...now we now.
Neither? Lapierre being friends with Guimauve took away his heart and fire if anything.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
IMO, this team doesn't need Lapierre and as we've been saying since the start of the season, he doesn't have a"role" with this team anymore. No PK duties, no more important faceoffs to take, no fighting. When everyone's healthy I don't really think he'd fit in. I'd rather have MAB on the fourth line for the PP. And Darche works so much harder that it's also hard to take him off.
And you know what, I would rather have a gritty kid like White up to take up that spot because Laps isn't going to play center anyway so the wing position can basically be played by anyone. And by calling up a younger guy, we make sure the work ethic, will and intensity is always there.
Gionta - Gomez - Pouliot
AK46 - Pleky - Cammi
Moen - Moore - SK74 (32 + 42 = 74 ---> you don't break up that line!)
Darche - Metro - Lappy/MAB/Pyatt
"I gotta a feeling...that tonight's gonna be a good night!"
He doesn't have a role anymore because he stopped playing one. Inconsistent as he was, he couldn't be trusted as a key faceoff man or to handle PK work, which was what he did last season. Never had a bad game in the 79 he played last season, this season he's played badly 4x as often as he played well. If he comes back in his 08-09 form, he's a valuable energy line player with good contributions, he just has to play well enough to get back to where he was.
MAB can not do 4th-line work if we want to roll 4 lines, we always end up with a shortened bench and the top lines overplaying because the MAB line exists only because we need his shot on the PP, which we could solve if JM would just try AK back there. He doesn't have the muscle to hit, he's not a good defencemen so his playing defence as a forward doesn't work that well and he turns over the puck.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
all this talk about the low scoring Bruins has me worried - better not take them lightly...they know how close it is too and they still have the potential to push us around...way to much focus on the goalies - we are not exactly leading the league in goals scored...give Price and Halak a break - they are an asset not a problem
Geez Halak looked sharp lastnight, are you guys sure this is who we want to ride into a possible playoff spot....If that was Price in the net, you guys would have been calling for his head!!!!!!!!!
God I wish people would leave BOTH our goalies alone. The room used to be fun, with alot of intelligent debates, it's now reduced to mindless rubish, name calling, and youngsters trying to find new ways of bashing Price.
It's getting really old, 3/4 of the posts are now bashing Price........
Ian, remember the old days, and all the fun we used to have.......
I sure do! This site has changed some what, but I just don't respond to all the nonsence and skip over them. This site is still the very best out there.
I am a supporter of both tenders and I think Price against the Prunes is the way to go...
Jaro needs to stay fresh and Price needs to get some work in..
Canadiens assign Ben Maxwell to the Hamilton Bulldogs --http://canadiens.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=52112
Now everyone can please shut up about putting Laps in the pressbox!!!
Expected and not surprising. He didn't really impress as much as the other dogs, not sure why they kept him up instead of say White.
Or hell why Lapierre gets ice time over white......
Maxwell hasn't really impressed me anyway..Lapierre can have more of an impact on a game then him, IMO..
I wonder if RDS would find it funny if a couple of guys wore Frog masks, while having a pepsi and maywest, while eating a Poutine in Honour of Lappierre if they would still find that funny!
Why is it even an issue with HIO-ers if Laps should play? Maxwell on the Metro line is pointless.
Lot of people got really upset over his hit on Nichols in the San Jose game and he hasn't been like he was last year either. Last year, Lapierre never took a shift off, this season he took long stretches of games where he was barely any more effective than BGL would have been. Dirty hit, sloppy season, discontent builds up fast around here.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
True, but if we threw everyone who had a bad season under the bus Pleks' 64 points would be somewhere else. Carbo found the best in him, JM's failing him, and Latendresse brought him down to an extent. but I think next season he'll find his game again.
He's been getting it back together this season though, he's been growing more consistent in the last 15 certainly. True about Pleks, how many people said drop this guy after last season? Right now he's our MVP forward, Lapierre will never be that guy but last year he showed great chops as a 3rd-line checking centre with strong PK ability, should hold on to that. All respect to Darche and Metropolit, but 33 and 35 respectively are not long-term solutions for our club's bottom-6 needs. Lapierre at 24 is a long-term option easily, his development could keep him a solid role player for a long time.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Ladies please, bad games happen... Halak was off last night, we know that but you fanatics out there have to cool down a bit. Just because he had a bad game doesn't mean he forgot how to be a goalie. This doesn't mean Price gets an automatic start either, coach will see what's going on during practises and take it from there. Boston is LOWEST scoring team this year(although they scored 5 last night), so it's not surprise both price and halak have looked good against them this year.
And keep in mind the oilers beat brodeur 2-0 the other night... they're playing better lately
If you guys had luongo, kipper or some "top teir" goalie and he let in 4, would u cry like babies?
best thing about yesterday is everyone might have played their worst game of the year and we still got 2 points.
It is funny. The biggest problem we have when one of our goalies has a bad game is that the other will come out and look great. This has somehow seperated habs fans into the price and halak groups. Which is crappy because each group now looks for the other goalie to have a bad game and bash the other guy. Instead we should be happy that we have two goalies who have played a bunch of games with above .900 sv%. To me this is a very important stat. We have two really good goalies who give us a chance to win every night, end of story.
Agreed, and yes if we had any of those goalies our "fans" would still find major holes in their games. They'd probably criticize them for not getting shutouts every night, not winning 5-straight Vezina's, too many rebounds, poor work ethic, etc...
All of your points are well said. I have to say I really liked the way Halak was able to settle down and cool off after letting in those first 2 questionable goals. If one more goal went in in those following 5-7 minutes, he was gone. He seemed to feel that he was on the edge of getting pulled, so he faught back. Good for him, we need that when our team plays without any urgency like they did last night.
"These head movies make my eyes rain" -Simple Jack
Halak had a bad game last night...two softies...he always seems to have one bad game after a string of 4-5 very good ones...generally this season, when that has happened, he did not play the next game or two but came back gangbusters the game after that. So in keeping with that tradition, play Price on Saturday and if he looks good and wins, then the Rangers, but put Halak back in after that, no more than two games off for Halak and he will get his full mojo back.
If they put Halak in against the Rangers, win or lose on Saturday, that is fine as well.
"I am guilty of using elipses..."
Price will probably loose if he plays next game
1- Take down the Halak poster that's infront of your face
2- Get your right hand out of your pants
3- Hang a poster of a habs logo on your wall
4- Grabb a beer and admire the CH logo ( but still keep the hands out of your pants please)
Should help you with your problems...
"These head movies make my eyes rain" -Simple Jack
Yes I'm a bad fan becasue I want the goalie with the best record to play and keep on winning instead of giving Price ANOTHER chance! give me a break...
Why dont you take off your Price mask and stop playing with yourself
So, instead of saying "if Price starts next game, I really hope he can settle down and give us a chance to get the 2 points", you say " if Price starts we will lose next game".
Yup, your the Habs' #1 fan, and completely unbiased for that matter.....(sigh)
*btw, your lucky Edmonton is horrible because Jaro would have gotten ripped by a team with decent offensive talent last night. And I'm not saying that because I like Price, I'm saying it because it's the honest truth. I'm glad it didn't happen because I like our TEAM, including both our goalies, because they are both part of the TEAM.
"These head movies make my eyes rain" -Simple Jack
Here you "loose" again.
If Red is your spiritual leader, perhaps a change of religions is in order? :)
This is the best opportunity to get Price a start - his record vs. the Bruins is very good and he will be anxious to have a great performance. I agree that sitting MaxLap an extra game might light a fire under him, but if Darche/Metro are getting less ice time because JM doesn't want Maxwell out there, them Laps has to start. Darche is an excellent fit against the Bruins - heck he seems pretty good against anybody right now.
I have a real soft spot for a guy who pays his dues and grabs his chance when it presents itself. Darche seems to me to be all about never giving up - really like him on the team.
Im more interested in making the playoffs then giving Price a start. He had plenty of opportunity over the last 2 years to start as many games as he wanted, he just couldnt win....
I'm one of the most vocal Halak supporters here - he's played super for the better part of two years. I just don't think he should play every game this month and then the playoffs. Price has to get in to keep him tuned up and to allow Halak to recharge as well. An injury to Halak and we ride Price the rest of the way.
He's got the same number of wins as Patrick Roy had at this point in his career. Carey's done plenty of winning.

Habs win, get 2 needed points and gives us some breathing room in the playoff hunt, lets still bash the goalie!!!Halak did not play well, but bottom line is he did what he needed to do in overtime and the shoutout and gave the habs the chance needed to win. His record speaks for itself, he should start on Saturday.
Yeah... good thing that he only "needed" to make three saves on five attempts in the shootout. ;)

And a breakaway in the OT. What a weird game that was.
