Maxim Lapierre, who has finished serving a four-game suspension, was back on the fourth line with Glen Metropolit and Mathieu Darche today as the Canadiens held a relatively short 45-minute practice in preparation for tomorrow night's key matchup against the Boston Bruins. The Canadiens made room for Lapierre by returning Ben Maxwell to the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Defenceman Andrei Markov, who played nearly 28 minutes in last night's 5-4 shootout win over Edmonton, took a day off to rest. Coach Jacques Martin said there wasn't concern about Markov's health. The defenceman has points in each of the Canadiens last five games with a goal and six assists.
No word on a goaltender for tomorrow night but don't be surprised if Carey Price gets the start. He's 3-0 against the Bruins this season and has given up only three goals in those games.

http://deadspin.com/5492171/yup-thats-some-blackface-at-a-hockey-game
i was at the game and these guys were close to my seats
what were they thinking?
...if I was a Montreal Canadiens' executive, I would make sure ignorant fools like this never get beyond the turnstile
Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY
http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=423049
hopefully this will be the incident which gets that result.
Sad part is, I'm pretty sure this happened with Laraque last season, couple guys in Laraque shirts and blackface, my memory may be off but I think I remember seeing that on another RDS broadcast back in the 08-09 season.
Hopefully the Canadiens organization sets a rule that if this happens again, they want those fools immediately ejected by arena personnel.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
i remember it was on haiiti night... but in that case it was flashed on the screen for a second... still unacceptable.
You know, I honestly believe they meant no harm and are totally ignorant of the history of blackface, and are genuine fans of the guy. I don't think you can buy those T-shirts anywhere and I really don't think they would go out of their way to make them only to make a racist statement.
But a dumbass move nonetheless - epecially by RDS for airing it. I guess Johnny Weir wasn't skating last night.
The article has says:
"As reader Nate, who sent in this pic puts it, we should reserve our scorn not for the two fans, dumbasses they may be. But rather for the RDS cameraman and producer, who decided to put them on camera for close to ten seconds at last night's game."
But the article itself shows the offensive photo of the two black-faced fans thereby giving even more exposure. Isn't this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?
________________________________________________________
"Hey Richard, two minutes for looking so good!"
Not entirely. The difference comes from what the purpose of showing the image is. I assume the reader who submitted the photo is submitting it as an example of bad behaviour that shouldn't be repeated or tolerated. I assume the RDS cameraman and producer put the image on air because they thought it would be entertaining, which is why they deserve our scorn.
It's like the image of the Serbian luge athlete crashing. The first day the image was shown to inform the public of what happened. If you're showing it on the fourth day you are showing it to get a vicarious reaction out of the audience.
Don't you think they may have shown the two idiots because it was unusual, instead of entertaining? I mean, it's not every day that 2 putzes make complete fools of themselves in such an outrageous manner, don't you think?
It's entirely possible. In fact still photographers are trained to look for unusual images and different perspectives than the ordinary to capture the reader's attention, so I suspect video cameramen are trained to do the same.
It may even be that the producer looked at these two putzes and said "my god those two are morons. Put them on the screen and get the announcers to say what morons they are" Unfortunately I don't speak french well enough to know what the announcers said about these two (and I don't really try to match the names to the voices) but neither announcer sounded outraged and there was no OyOyOy the way there is when a really bad play occurs, so I can't say for sure what verbal message was put across. I do know that one announcer didn't even realize that these two clowns were referring to PK and the other announcer had to explain it. But leaving the camera on them for so long seems to me to be ignoring the racist aspect of the situation.
Absolute disgrace!
That being said, some of the comments were hilarious.

habs are winning - no reason to change goalies - don't care what price's record is - play halak - if we lose to boston, price plays the next game.
win you're in, lose you're out - simple, easy to undestand and accept for both young goalies, easy for the team to accept and takes out all of the guessing
the objective should be clear - not vague, subjective analysis - objective is to win the games.
period - end of story.
if martin plays price and the team plays poorly - don't blame price - blame martin.
I have no problem with price playing - as soon as halak loses his next game - even if halak loses 1-0 - a loss is a loss and then you change goalies.
...agree Ed ...if Jaro is healthy and rested, play Him until We lose
...Did We WIN the last game ?, should be the only criteria to consider playing Carey in this tight struggle to assure qualifying for the playoffs
...if We were assured to make the playoffs ?, that would be a different story

Everything is looking great right now. I wonder how many fans who in January voted to tank the season have jumped back on the wagon?
The Canadiens proved throughout the season that they can beat any team.
Anything is possible, you just have to make the playoffs to find out, and that is why no matter how bad the team looks at one point, it can all change.
Get well soon Cammalleri we need you back to seal the deal!
They call me Shane
Actually, any team can beat any other team at some point during the regular season. If you think this current group of players is going beyond the first round of playoffs then perhaps I would have to challenge you on that point. It has nothing to do with "bandwagons" or loyalty to the club as I believe all on this site are loyal Hab fans, no question about it. However, when the "loyaty blinders" are removed reality must set in and we are not going anywhere beyond the first round, if we make it at all.
As a team, we have too many small forwards who will get worn down quickly in the playoffs. Our defense lacks mobility and moving the puck out of your zone quickly is essential for playoff success. In addition, while there is no lack of heart there is no team toughness which is also a key element to playoff success.
Goaltending should not be an issue (only on this site!!!) however, it alone won't win a series.
...most people talking about 'tanking' were NOT saying fold-up and stop trying to win ...they were saying don't trade for short-term gain of making this year's playoffs, giving away the core of a young and promising Team
...which the Habs have thankfully done ...only adding supplemental pieces from outside like Moore at minimum cost
...'tanking' meant letting the chips fall where they may with what We have, and IF that wound up to be a prime draft ?, so be it, because in today's NHL that is part of the reality of building an elite-team
...now, IF it turns-out that what We have is gellin' to make a run, We are as excited and satisfied as You are
...We NEVER hopped-off the wagon to begin with
Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY
http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=423049
My impression of tanking would have been trading some of our mid-aged players and UFA's for draft picks/prospects. i.e. trade a goalie, trade Pleks, try to trade Hammer etc. Don't think it would have been the right thing to do.
the habs are as good as they are bad
- Team Halak V.S. Team Price...Montreal Canadiens Fans are similar to 14 year-old Girls going through Puberty.
Pierre LeBrun looks at early favourites for the NHL awards. Unfortunately there's no love for Tomas Plekanec in the Selke category, which is astounding.
His +/- ratings aren't as lofty as forwards like Toews, nor does he have a shorthanded goal this season and he's never been an ace faceoff man. He is probably one of the best defensive forwards this season but a couple of things are working against him to get extra consideration.
- I shall always remember Captain Koivu. http://habsandhockey.blogspot.com/
Plekanec's PK numbers should be enough to make up for other deficiences. I'm not saying he should win, but he should be mentioned over the likes of Joe Pavelski or especially Jordan Staal, who's the most overrated player in the entire NHL.
For some strange reason this award has morphed into the 2nd tier point getter award. It used to be for defensive forwards, so they get a little recognition, too. It's become a joke, really.
To be fair, it's hard to argue Datsyuk didn't deserve the Selke the last two years, he is impossibly good at stealing the puck and playing as a defensive forward, his point totals come off of the fact that he played on an incredibly talented Detroit squad in the two previous seasons, his scoring has come down this season after all and he's still in consideration.
Sometimes the Selke trophy hasn't gone to the right guy but the Hart has really gotten twisted, it seems to be a 2 for 1 deal that gets packaged with the Art Ross nowadays, Malkin narrowly beating out Ovechkin for the scoring title was the only thing that prevented that last year.

--Hunter S. Thompson
to all those who are bashing AK's performance and wanting to ship him outta town should i remind u that the man was out injured for close to 2 months and had an operation done on his knees?... I also hope that u r not expecting cammalei to come back and score a hat trick off the bat... these are the type of injuries that take a while to go away and just b/c a player is back from injury doesnt mean that he is 100%
Not to mention that for every succesful player at his age, there are others just discovering their form.
I see people constantly mentioning the successes of guys like Parise, Getzlaf, Richards, etc. But let's look at some other players that have rounded into form after mediocre to miserable starts to their professional career.
Markus Naslund:
Entering the 1998-99 season as a 25 year old former star prospect, Naslund had one promising season under his belt (1995-96: 76 GP, 22 G, 55 PTS), but his career had been pretty disappointing: 315 GP, 63 G, 145 PTS. After two up and down seasons in Vancouver, he found some chemistry with Brendan Morrison and Todd Bertuzzi and became one of the top left wings in the NHL, averaging roughly 35 goals per season and a point per game over the next seven seasons.
Daniel & Henrik Sedin:
Maybe it has something to do with Vancouver, but the Sedins also had a slow start to their NHL careers, not really hitting their stride until the NHL came out of its lockout in 2004-05. It is perhaps hard to imagine now, but the words "draft busts" were being whispered increasingly frequently when it came to the Sedin twins. Pre lockout, Henrik averaged 11 goals and 37 points while Daniel averaged 15 goals and 38 points over the same four seasons. Post lockout, the twins have been dominant, point-per-game players that are perennial All-Stars and nobody would ever accuse them of being busts.
Benoit Pouliot:
Have to mention another Hab here...Pouliot has been a revelation since being traded for Guillaume Latendresse. His numbers prior to coming to Montreal were disappointing...people weren't just whispering the word "bust" about Pouliot, they were screaming it loudly and proudly. His scoring numbers are obviously much better, but he also appears to be a pretty complete prospect moving forwards, seemingly finding great chemistry with Gionta and Gomez.
Mikko Koivu:
Another player many of us are somewhat familiar with, Mikko Koivu was long portrayed as the bigger but less talented brother of Saku. Entering the NHL as a 22 year old in 2005-06, his first three seasons did little to change that impression...Koivu averaged 12 goals and 39 points per season. It was only in his fourth NHL season as a 25 year old that Koivu broke out, putting up 20 goals and 67 points. He is admittedly a complete player that plays hard in both the offensive and defensive zones, but the Wild were patient with his development.
Andrei Kostitsyn:
While this is AK46's 5th NHL season officially, it is still only his third complete season, as he only spent parts of the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons in Montreal. Kostitsyn has only just turned 25 last month and has averaged 25 goals and 45 points over the past two seasons and is scoring at a similar pace (prorates to 21 goals and 46 points) in this injury plagued season. I am not 100% confident that he will blossom in Montreal: sometimes players need a change of scenery, sometimes they need to move to find that on-ice chemistry that raises their game to the next level and sometimes they just never accomplish what we hope.
What I do know is that while Andrei Kostitsyn is not yet (and maybe never will be) on a par with Ryan Getzlaf, Zach Parise, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter or Dustin Brown, he is still a good young player with the potential to flourish in the right situation. Regardless, his career thus far has been successful, if not as much as we Habs fans wish it had been given who had been drafted that season.
I can only speak for myself, but I wasn't so much bashing AK but saying I'd give up both Kosti for Horton.
Horton is too brittle. Every season, he's pretty much injured for 10 games +.
There is a small problem with the site affecting some of us on here. There is only enough room on here now for just so many foolish comments, then it crashes.

I think Boston could use a few more fans, why don't you go South?
hmmmm, a bit extreme no? I dont particularly like Laps either. I think he is backstabbing and relatively gutless, but NEVER wish for anyone to get hurt.....that may bite you in the assets. I also believe Maxim will be somewhere else next year, unless of course he scores 15 in the last few games we've got and then scores 3-4 overtime winners in the playoffs.
Without a doubt, tomorrows game is the biggest of the year so far....either up by four with 3 in hand for those guys, or even in points. For us at this point the only question left ( assuming we play well) is, will it be the Caps or the Pens.

not being able to view the comments may be a good thing. the quality of posters has gone down dramtically since last year.halak/price bullsh@#* 24/7.....how boring.
If you think last year was good, you should have been here when the site first started two years ago. It was perfect, people had more respect for one another, even when they didn't share the same view on issues. Not trying to pick on anyone or anything but a lot more ppl here that talk with very little knowledge of hockey. And Amen to that Price/Halak, I cant take it anymore.
agreed habs03. off topic but what goalie do you think we should trade? just joking please , please don't answer.
This site should have a link to a separate "Price vs. Halak" site. Once this was in place, the moderators would be permission to delete all comments in that genre. And if this new site was considered part of HI/O, Boone and Stubbs could still get their views bonus!
Seriously though, a comment shouldn't have to be considered "offensive" to warrant being moderated. Ex: Several posts above there is a comment saying "Lapierre- I hate his guts! I hope Lucic beats the crap out of him and puts him out of commission for the rest of the season, then we waive him!"
Now does anyone think this contributes anything to the discussion? You look like an idiot for posting something like this and other posters have to skip through multiple name-calling and similar mindless posts. So please do everyone a favour and put some thought into something before posting.

i think lucic could teach lapierre a good valuable lesson.
Just like the lesson he taught Matt Cooke?
awwwwww. don't worry carey and jaro will be seperated soon enough just a fe wmore months lol
but if u thought carey/halak was fun could u image carey and Cedrick Desjardins dueling it out. a french goalie versus a english one.... wow that will be 20 times more painful lol
That is the only thing this child thinks he knows about, just look at what he has on his head. Wears it to bed me thinks.
How does a question about the forum format turn into a Price/Halak debate?
Welcome to HIO! Some posters here would raise Halak v. Price in a debate over genetic sequencing.

I'm grateful that we have two young talented goalies. I'm grateful that in all the injuries we are able to sustain a team that is tied for 6th place in the Eastern Conference. I'm grafeful that Gauthier had the insight to hang on to all our players at trade deadline which boosted their confidence and created a solidarity. I'm grateful that in all our criticism to JM, that he persists in doing the best he can, given some things that are out of his control.
What are you grateful for?

seeing that there is still some posters here with a bit of brain... good post
If Price is in, this will destabilize our D for at least a period and a half... Just watch.
Sure, he can start... but it will be a mess in our zone for half a game. Not saying our D is perfect when Halak is in, but switching goalie every 2 game is not good.
------
Komisarek: 0 - 4 - 4 (-9) http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8469460
So then every team is afraid to start their backups because it might "destabilize" the D? Time to make up a new BS reason to hate Price and the Kostitsyns.
In what way will it destablize our D? Only difference a goalie has on the D is maybe him handling the puck which Price is good at. Do you mean the D is more relaxed when Halak is in nets?
I am starting to think that Andrei K should be a third liner. He doesn't produce enough to be given top 6 ice time. IMO I think this needs to be adressed in the off season.
He should be a third liner that is moved up when there are injuries (which this year would have been a lot). I know he has great skills but they only show up few and far between.
For what he is making an ice time he is not even remotely producing enough. His brother looks to be about the same.
a 3rd line role is being good on D-zone and good forechecker, if A.Kost isn't on the 2 top lines hes useless. His brother is good on D hence is more suited for a 3rd line role. I really wouldn't mind seeing the Kost brother moved in the summer for a Big RW, hint hint Horton:)
Man I would love to see Horton in a Habs uni. Only way it happens is if Hamrlik and/or Kostitsyn are shipped out.
Just the kosti brothers, both their cap hit = Horton 4 Mill cap hit! Cammy-Plec-Horton Pouliot-Gomez-Gio..hmmm :):):)
AK is a notorious slow starter. It's once he gets going, that you can't throw him to the 3rd line. He will produce 2nd liner numbers, so don't give up on him too soon.
So we're talking what...2017/18 KHL season?
As Robin Williams used to say, "Humor? Ar-Har-Ar!"
AK had a slow start to the year, but he can produce. Take a look at the games before he went down to injury. This is still also only his 3rd full year in the NHL and has had 2 20 goal season. Give him a few more to get the rust off, and get another top 6 forward playing on that line ( no offence to Pyatt or who ever is filling in there right now) and he'll be potting some more goals. The 20 games I"m talking about he had 11 goals and 9 assists, when he finally found some chemistry with his line.
Give him time to get his timing back, he just got back from an injury, he was our best forward for 1 month before the injury
Agreed. When you only have 3 players on a line, taking even one out can be detrimental to your chemistry. It could be that he misses Cammalleri on the other wing. Also, just because a guy is back from injury doesn't make him 100%. It took him a while to get going this year only to be taken down by injuries...twice. I think we'll see a different Andrei K in April.
