Cowardly? You should talk, Carbo says of Flyers

“After that goal, they were taunting our players,” Carbonneau said Sunday. “They should have been happy to score and just gone back to the bench. Don’t turn around and (needle) our players. I think (Timonen) deserved it.”
Predictably, Stevens assessed the situation differently in his post-game comments Saturday.
“The only thing that kind of really disturbs me is that, at the end of the game, Kostopoulos ... to go up and blindside-sucker Kimmo Timonen on a play at the end there ... that’s cowardly, in my opinion,” he said. “There’s no place for that. Kimmo’s our best player. He’s totally unsuspecting. That leaves a bad taste in your mouth.”
On Sunday, Kostopoulos did his best to brush the incident aside, saying his emotions got the better of him. He said he and Carbonneau had spoken briefly about it. Kostopoulos, a fierce competitor, understands he must display better restraint.
“I should have controlled my emotions and skated back to the bench,” he said. “I just let my emotions take control. I was upset. We were about to lose a game. He (Timonen) was laughing and taunting us. But when you’re on top, maybe you can do stuff like that.”
The best-of-seven series is now tied, 1-1, with the next two games in Philadelphia, Monday and Wednesday. Although the Flyers now have home-ice advantage, Carbonneau hasn’t lost any of his resilience. And why would he? The Canadiens controlled the game on Saturday, outshooting Philadelphia 36-23, but where repeatedly thwarted by goaltender Martin Biron.
“We’ve only played two games,” Carbonneau said. “We lost the battle yesterday, but not the war. Yesterday was our best game.”
Defenceman Patrice Brisebois, who missed the second game with a leg injury, is scheduled to undergo tests on Monday, according to a Canadiens official. He didn’t accompany the team to Philadelphia on Sunday, but could rejoin them.
Carbonneau said he might make some lineup changes for tonight’s game, but wouldn’t disclose his thoughts further.
