Playoff Pool Update

posted by Chris Aung-Thwin at 15h20 EST on Apr 29

Led by Evengi Malkin, Sidney Crosby, and Jaromir Jagr, dysonsphere (16 active players) continues to set the pace in the Habs Inside/Out playoff pool with 137 points.

Dru (105 points; 16 active players) and Italia_rules (117 points; 20 active players) have been the most productive during the past week, earning 11 points apiece.

Lurker Girl, dukeboy, Gormdog, retroMikey, digitalmonkey, Caelan, habsfan53, and cliftoris have each notched 10 points during the past week and have all moved up in the standings.

Interestingly, only one fantasy team with 20 active players is performing well enough to make it into the Top 30 (The Habit, t-28th). Most fantasy teams need San Jose, Montreal, and New York to pick up their games in order to stay competitive during this round.

I made the same mistake early on, the update list was posted prior to last nights games so some of those points were counted toward your totals.. BTW Price has 7pts... 5 W and 2 Shutouts...

Scotty90's picture

Chris.... I'll buy you a beer at the next summit if you allow me a couple of trades :)

FSLN's picture

Wow, Franzen is starting to look like the key to this pool. I totally lucked into him, was just looking for a third wings forward...

Man is he ever hot! Those Penguin scorers too, but they're always done so quick they don't have time to accumulate many points...

Big Bird's picture

Chris - Do you have my name in the pool?

Chris Aung-Thwin's picture

Yeah, you're in there... just 1 point out from moving into the Top 50.

Chris, did my entry make it? I figure I must be close to the top 50.

Thanks

Big Bird's picture

Thanks. Guess I'm still in the peanut gallery. ;-)

I thought I was on the leaderboard as by my calculations I had 125 points. I could be wrong as math was never my forte.

Hey Big Bird.. I am at 125 as well as of this morning.....

I wonder who will be affected if SJ and Avs drown (i will lose Thornton and Campbell... )

Big Bird's picture

I suspect a few people Scotty. I'm really mad about San Jose tanking it. Down 3-0 in the series with their talent is brutal. They are looking like the Senators right now.

Apparently I've picked all the guys who decided to stick their heads up their ... err ... pads ... and accomplish NOTHING in the playoffs. The only thing I have to look forward to is the Habs trouncing the Flyers. Here's to a SHORT wait!

I would have had 20 still alive. On a hunch, I dropped Sergei Kostitsyn for Ovenchicken at the last minute.

1 - Kovalev
2 - Crosby
3 - Malkin
4 - Zetterberg
5 - Datsyuk
6 - Thornton
7 - Franzen
8 - Higgins
9 - A. Kostitsyn
10 - Plekanec
11 - Ovechkin
12 - Hossa
13 - Streit
14 - Markov
15 - Gonchar
16 - Rafalski
17 - Campbell
18 - Lidstrom
19 - Price
20 - Nabokov

The brightside is you can look forward to bragging about finishing 3 points behind the winner, LOL.

Sorry!

coutNY's picture

Where did you come up with Frazen? He wasn't even playing until the last month or so? Probably the one dark horse no else has....

well I guess if I had read a little further I'd know... Good pick!

Robert L - We are both tied right now and I can't believe that you picked Franzen. You and Chris A-T must be cousins or best friends, that can't be an original pick. I dropped Rafalski at the last minute for Pronger. Sigh. Go Sharks.

Robert L's picture

Sorry, bud, but I knew Franzen was hot as hell finishing the regular season with 17 goals in his last 22 games. I tried to get him in my draft pool, but I was up against a bigtime Wings fan and friend who knew what I knew. I settled for Rafalski, Holmstrom and Cleary.

But if you still don't believe me, you can always ask my cousin Chris!

m00ks's picture

I'm stuck in the 6-10th hump.

I just gotta beat that old fart 24.6830231 Cups or whatever the heck his name is now

LMAO, hilarious AHAHAHAH

I'm sliiiipping... (Cue Wicked Witch gurgling noises)

1. www.flickeringpictures.com - not a hockey site, but still kinda neat
2. Josh Gorges on Montreal's attack: "They're comin', they're comin' and they keep comin'. Just line after line, wave after wave..."

coutNY's picture

I'm still kicking...but for how long???

Chris - Just wondering, did any players get selected from Philadelphia or Dallas?

The Original 24.4 Cups

Chris Aung-Thwin's picture

Several teams chose Dallas players, and a few - but not many - chose Philly players. I can't remember numbers or anything, but give me a couple days and I'll see if I can give you a proper estimate.

Out of my hat: 9% of teams selected either Dallas or Philly players... but that's out of my hat.
