Pat Hickey checks in from Jacques Lemaire Arena in LaSalle with these line combinations being used in the Canadiens practice as we write:
Andrei Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Kovalev
Higgins-Koivu-Sergei Kostitsyn
Bégin-Smolinski-Kostopoulos
Lapierre-Streit-Latendresse
Great article today in the Gazette on Canadiens Hall Of Famer Elmer Lach who has some pretty good ideas for our team and how they can beat the Flyers. He also thinks Price's catching hand is injured. A good read and well done as usual Mr.Stubbs.
A good omen for the Habs over Philly. Early this morning, I went for my usual coffee, and when I was parking, I drove over a bottle than didn't give me a flat.
It was Orange Crush - have a look here.
Habs For Breakfast - Get Ready For A Big Win

Maybe the ghosts are at work for you, Robert! Say, what are the chances that could run over a couple more of those Orange Crush bottles to help take the Habs through the rest of the series? :)
Strangely enough, I stopped at that same Fifth Wheel for coffee when I was on my way up to Montreal for Game 7 versus the Bruins. I wish I was able to make that same trip this afternoon.

LOL, I'd run over a case if it guaranteed a Game 7!
Good stuff Robert. Nice to see you doing your part. Go Habs! (Eyes on the Prize is a great site.)
Looking at San Jose's accomplishments the last two games, being down 3 games to "0", only goes to reinforce the thought that the Habs can rebound, find the scoring touch, and get right back in this series. I don't know why it is, but I just get a feeling that we will score early and often tonight.......orange, crushed!
4 years ago, I laid a few bucks down on the Habs coming back against Boston in '04. I based my faith on them having outplayed the Bruins in the games they had lost. I have a similar feeling again this year. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it happen again.
Did you put a few bucks down this time?

"Are the Habs ready to pay the Price?"
No takers yet. I'm in the heart of Habs Ontario country here. Can't walk a block without seeing 3 or 4 flags, store windows etc.
The Leafs are Canada's Team?
PLEEEAAASEEEE.

"Are the Habs ready to pay the Price?"
sorry if it already been post...
"Selon la station CKAC, Andrei Kostitsyn aurait reçu une offre de 4 millions $ US du club russe Ak Bar Kazan en vue de la prochaine saison."
seriously hope it's not true!

The fourth line? That's not a line it's a point with two lollygaggers tagged to each end. Enough already with Lapierre and Latendresse. They bring nothing to the table.
Isn't it nice to come on the site and see post after post calling Carbo an idiot? Does it make you feel good that your hockey knowledge is so superior to someone who have spent more than 15 seasons playing in the NHL and over 5 seasons as an assistant coach and assistant manager, let alone 2 full seasons as head coach?
The name calling on the site since Wednesday night's loss is juvenile.
I agree everyone has the right to disagree, but PLEASE think for a minute before you post.
The 2007/08 edition of the Habs has surpassed expectations. There are those who have posted saying the coach is the one responsible for what happens on the ice, i.e., results. Based on this assumption, Carbo is responsible for Kovy's great season, the emergence of AK46 and Pleks. Markov, Hamrlik, Bouillon, Gorges and Komisarek must have played so well because of Carbo, too. Price and Halak can't stop a puck without him standing behind the bench.
The short answer to this long post is that THE RESULTS OF A GAME ARE DETERMINED BY THE PLAYERS. The coach doesn't skate, check, pass, shoot or make saves. His job is to win games, true, but as head coach he chooses who will play based on performance. Those in the stands are there for that reason, and that reason alone. Performance, not bigotry, prejudice or any other of the blather I've read.
That's enough; it's time to crop some grass.

Remember '71? Remember '86?
Now is the time to believe. The Drive for 25 is on! Go Habs Go!
G man - I agree what you said and i quote "I agree everyone has the right to disagree".
nightmare...the one thing I am pretty sure I know about you is that you would love the Habs to prove some of your statements wrong. I'm not that certain some others on here are in that same category (geezus, NM, don't think I am categorizing you...lol). The other thing is that you qualify your statements with either facts and/or reason, while others just flail away with negative comments one can hear in an elementary schoolyard. Having "run" into you a few times myself on here last year, I now know where you are coming from. Keep on rockin', I never skip over any nightmare_49 posts.
TommyB - Much appreciated and we both knew that the Habs back then had something special and they proved it in this Cinderella year. The resources are there though we didn't tool up for the playoffs at that dreaded deadline we still know that they can make a good run, with a few breaks, if all the parts are wisely used. The Bruin's series proved to me that our dream was in jeopardy and it wasn't the players on the ice or the black aces that made me think that way. We have played better than the Flyers and been snake bitten by Biron and we can overcome this with a good effort. I never miss the Stang and your point of view also as we follow our dream. Go Habs Go.
Good point about the Bruins proving that our dream was in jeopardy. An eye-opener for sure.
Couldn't agree with you more G-Man. Enuff said already. If I asked you (all Habs fans)before the season sarted if you would be happy to see Habs win ONE playoff round, you ALL would have died to see that. Now here we are IN THE SECOND ROUND, and everyone is crying if we don't go on. Yeah, I want to win the Cup too, but be realistic. At least we can look at this team and say that the next 4 to 6 years MINIMUM looks AWSOME!
I believe we will win tonight, and tomorrow. Then, like a TRUE Habs fan, I believe we will win game 7 too. NO MATTER WHAT DECISIONS CARBO MAKES - BECAUSE HE IS THE COACH.
And he wasn't nominated for the Jack Adams because he's an idiot.
This team has over-achieved, and it's fantastic. But don't blame ANYONE, especially Carbo, if we lose to Philly. They have gone so far, and matured so much this year. And this playoff, wether it last any longer or not, is the BEST expierience, long-term, that Price, A. Kostitsyn, S. Kostitsyn, Plekanec, Gorges, Komisarek, Lapierre, Latendresse, and all the other VERY YOUNG players on our team, can ever want to get. They will be around for a few years to come, so lets enjoy what they can, and are doing, and stop waisting posts with stupid comments and nonesense about bad coaching, bad officials, poor performances, Price's "hand injury"....etc. etc. etc.
The boys will do what they need to, and that's what we should all ask for, AND NOTHING MORE.
Good luck boys, and TEAR THOSE FLYERS APART!
Jim-out.
I BELIEVE!
Whatever needs to be said has been said. I just wish that we have someone who can establish position in front of their net to screen and deflect the puck and pick up the rebound.
Looking back, the regular season and the play-off have given the team and the fans a lot to think about. Look at the Laffs. They are still stuck in mud.
I wonder where we could find a couple of good sports WRITERS,professional, I mean, that are capable of drilling Carbo, as to why he keeps shunning Ryder. Seems to me that they are AFRAID to ask questions. Is there a Putin rule in Montreal, as in Russia ???????
Have you not seen Ryder play this year?? You still think that he's the answer??? You must be related to him...
This statement could be posted to some of the guys that are in the line up as well though (Lats, Smoke, Lap). It seems a few players other than Ryder have under achieved this year. I personally think that the reason Ryder is sitting and not some one else is because Ryder was the biggest disappointment (not meant as an insult, Rides is my favorite player). I think that after back to back 30 goal years the coaches had expectations more so from Ryder than from "pick one". When he was asked to pick up his defensive play, his offensive play suffered. He was asked to be an all-around player, (which he is not, he's a goal scorer) and when that didn't work out, Ryder got benched. I don't think Carbo is not playing Ryder because of some conspiracy, I just think that he is disappointed in the end result of the coaching staff's little experiment gone wrong. Whoever Ryder is with next year, if he just goes back to playing his game he'll put the puck in the back of the net over 30 times next year. We probably will never know if anything actually went on between Ryder and Carbo, but personally, I have every faith in Ryder's ability as a player and I have every faith in Carbo as a coach. I think they will both do great things.
Again, I dont think the 4th line is that important. The 4th line sees what? 3 minutes of action tops per period on a normal playoff night? Tonight wont be a normal night, our backs are against the wall so it should be even less than that, providing the game stays close. Or if things dont go as planned and Carbo feels he has to tinker, a 4th liner whos playing well might get promoted to the another line, or create a new line and double-shift somebody etc
Youre right Showey, I wouldnt have liked the habs chances of just making the playoffs playing in the west conference. A team like L.A. wouldve probably made the playoffs if it played in the east.
You said it Chuck, habs owe us a stress-free game lol
this site is getting sickening pretty fast...There used to be some good posts, good debates, maybe an argument or two...now it's reduced to name calling and bashing when you don't agree with their slams against the coach and the players THEY think should be in the lineup. Alot of the original posters got tired of it and left, now I notice more of them aren't here as often as they were...Guys,
PLEASE, you're ruining a good site the way you repeat the same crap over and over .......
Amen to that.
In a very, very, very controversial game, the Sharks beat Dallas. Make sure you check out the highlights on Saturday morning. Who knows, it may be an omen for our Habs.
The Original 24.4 Cups
Hopefully we can take it well before overtime, though!

I don't know if my old ticker could handle an overtime tomorrow...kinda be nice to have a three goal cushion, I'll take any sort of win mind you.I'm gonna go to the beach in the morning so I don't have to sit in front of my 'puter and scour this site all day.
