Sundin strikes back

posted by Mike Boone at 13h57 EST on Jul 8

Eschewing phone calls or e-mails, Mats Sundin prepares a unique way of conveying his decision on where to play this year.

(Actually, it's Sundin performing in The Nutcracker ... which is not a euphemism for the amount of time he's taking to make up his mind.)

Who has a better chance of winning the cup in the next 1-2 seasons... Habs or Nucks? Drive For 25 Is Alive!

Maybe the question should be who has the better chance of getting Tavares?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2SdJGhkZK4&feature=related we should resign KILGER (never should have let him go) along with Sundin. watch the video and understand....

Rooster's picture
so now gainey only needs to resign Gorges, and OB? Then he can focus on mats / another UFA? ~Listen to the rooster! He knows what he's saying!

That Sundin pic is wrong on so many levels. lol :) Drive For 25 Is Alive!

Yep, I'm another one that's giddy for Sundin. I'm hoping that Gainey's move to "stand pat" since they've spoken gives Sundin the warm fuzzies about coming to a team that really wants (and NEEDS!) him!

Halak signed for two years. What a relief !

I'm a little concerned about Carbo's confidence yesterday when talking about the Sundin affair. I found it weird that he sounded so optimistic. Is it just wishful thinking? In that case it could be interpreted as false good news, and could go around the hockey community and create a Sundin to Mtl rumour again, maybe even hurt our chances? And I hear Demitra is close to signing Demitra (rumour?). If that is true...we are beginning to be alone in the Sundin Derby with cap space...big time.

HabsChick's picture
Who is close to signing Demitra?

I heard Canucks, but who knows

I heard vancouver is the front runner, also the kings were in the running.

Actaully, I just found this on TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=242835&lid=sublink01&lpos=headlines_main Apparently Vancouver is his 1st choice. With a current cap hit of $40MM, could they afford both?

Hud's picture
yeah made a error in original comment...Vancouver i heard was close to landing Demitra

The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Jaroslav Halak to a two-year contract worth $1.55 million, that will see him get paid $750,000 in 2008-09 and $800,000 in 2009-10 -TSN ~Listen to the rooster! He knows what he's saying!

Excellent! That contract is a steal, I think. http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com

Yep. Halak is just as good if not better then Huet and if I were him I would go to arbitration. Anyway... good for the Habs.

He wouldn't get much in arbitration. What would he have to say before the arbitrator that would work in his favour?

Didn't see this posted anywhere...Good news, if you ask me! Halak signs two-year deal. http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=242836&lid=sublink03&lpos=headlines_main

Man, I want him to sign so badly! All this waiting is giving me an ulcer... :P

I heard the Sedin twins want out of Vancouver, so the three of them can open up a Swedish Massge palour, with 20 million dollar happy endings.

Throw in a few disgruntled Red Wings and we're getting somewhere. http://habsloyalist.blogspot.com

Now finding a disgruntled Red Wing would be hard...

Hey DD-- can you make it to the BarBQ/& pool get together. Won't be like home without you.

DD's picture
Hey Ian I will do my best to make it down, but I must be honest, July 26th is my dear Mother's birthday. I don't know if she'll understand if I miss her party, seeing how she's a sens fan, and her favourite player is Chris Neil. Decisions, decisions........., I will definately let you know.

I want this to be Photoshopped. Please tell me this is Photoshopped. This makes the freaky dog avatar seem pleasing.

Bean's picture
Sorry dude! Not Photoshopped. He did was in a showing of the Nutcracker for sick kids and their families last December. He looks hilariously ridiculous, but can't think of a better cause. Here's a YouTube clip from CBC with Mats in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn7i6KMtYJk

I would be creeped out but its for sick kids so that's awesome by him.
