AS A 40 YEAR LONG HABS FAN, I AM TIRED OF THE INK THAT IS BEING WASTED ON SUNDIN ( MINE INCLUDED! ). TIME TO MOVE ON AND CONCENTRATE ON WHAT YOU HAVE NOT WHAT YOU HOPE FOR. LAST YEAR THEY COULD HAVE PLAYED FOR THE CUP, BUT THEY LACKED GRIT AND GOALTENDING WHEN IT MATTERED MOST. IF I WAS THE TEAM I WOULD BE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT WHETHER PRICE CAN REBOUND ( AS STATED BY JACK TODD) THAN IF A 38 YEAR OLD 30 GOAL SCORER SHOWS UP TO LEAD THEM TO THE PROMISED LAND. THIS IS REMINDING ME TOO MUCH OF THE CRAP THAT WAS PULLED ON THE DUCKS BY A COUPLE OF THEIR SO CALLED STAR PLAYERS LAST YEAR. FORGET ABOUT IT, AND CONCENTRATE ON WHAT YOU HAVE.THE HABS WILL GO ONLY AS FAR AS THEIR GRIT, GOALTENDING AND ABILITY TO SCORE FIVE-ON-FIVE WILL TAKE THEM, NOT WHETHER SUNDIN DECIDES TO SHOW UP.

I'm suprised that Mike Johnson wasn't able to find a home anywhere...I mean, this guy is a solid 3rd line who has some offensive upside (he did score 20 goals with the coyotes). There are still a few teams that need to fill out their rosters, and he'd be a great cheap pickup.

While he brings a strong two-way game and has some offensive upside the problem with Mike is that he lacks a physical game. The game no longer relies in crutching and grabbing and basically he gets outworked simply because as previously stated he lacks the heart to do what is needed and doesn't get his nose dirty.

Only thin about Mike Johnson is I would question his heart, he didn't seem to play with alot of emotion, intensity. Two traits alot of GM's are looking for.

All this talk lately about Swedes and music has me wondering if there is a good ABBA dvd out there (if I have to listen,want to see the women).And yes, I am old enough to remember disco, but man, it was all about the chicks.Any suggestions other then shot myself? Checked my music collection and the closest thing I have is Fleetwood Mac "Rumours" (a Stevie thing).

I know this has been said before, but I'm getting really tired of all of this non Sundin news. If he was seriously thinking of joining us this year for our 25th cup run, he would have announced it by now. Lets face it training camp starts in roughly 3 weeks, lets wish him well in retirement and tell him we will save him a seat for the stanley cup parade.
I don't know Bob or Guy, nor do I think of myself as anything but a diehard fan, but I do believe that Bob has something in the works. He has roughly 7 M in cap space, some exciting prospects trying to make the big show, with some veterans trying to maintain their spot on the bench. I believe a deal will be announced befoe the season opener!!

Yeah, it's been said to death! I stopped paying close attention to this entire Sundin farce quite some time ago, and I stopped caring, and will not give a rat's @ss unless I read one day that he has indeed signed with the Habs.
I will agree with you regarding Gainey....with 7mil in cap space, you can bet that he will have something else in mind (and that he also has a "drop-dead" date in his head as far as Sundin goes). The Montreal Canadiens do not revolve around Mats Sundin.

Couldn't agree with you more. Although Mats F. Sundin was a hab killer at times, he is not the end all for this storied franchise. I can't wait to start reading some real hockey news, not this Sundin Trek that we've been on for the past 5 plus weeks (say this in your best William Shatner voice, you know he's a montrealer you know!!!!!) Sundin phasers on Stun!! Probably a little to much trek there eh!

Beginning with last year's uniforms, the jerseys were more "form fitting." That sort of explains why when the Sen and the leafs unveiled last year's jerseys they looked like pajama tops. I certainly can't wear one of those. Worse than a fat broad wearing spandex!

This weekend, I was talking with a friend who also travels a lot. He remarked that you can always tell the airport gates with the Pittsburgh flights: Everyone's overweight, the guys are all wearing baseball caps, and everyone is wearing Pittsburgh sports-themed clothes (particularly Steelers-related). What do you expect from a place where the signature touch in food preparation is to put french fries and cole slaw on a sandwich?

You want pain my friend, go to Sesame Street place in PA sometime. There were more tattoos on women there than in the entire Royal Navy throughout its entire history. My personal favorite was some peckerhead who must have gotten smashed. He had red hair, was about 5'6" and he had emblazoned on his back "Irish Pride" with a great big shamrock. Michael Collins gave his life for people like that? Jesus wept!!!

Need a rinse and a blow dry every year. These damn things can last forever. I've had my CCM white and red center ice #10's with the fight strap for about 15 years by now and I use them regularly. (Certainly smell like it too!) They are, to be fair, getting tighter around the middle. I'm starting to look line an NFL lineman. I might have to reach into my wallet soon, or go on the Bobby Sand's diet.
Better yet, I'll go on ebay and sell them as "game worn." They reek so much no one will ask by whom?

I feel bad for Mike Johnson. He was always a good player for us. Made a good pairing with Bonk... and it's too bad he couldn't find a regular spot in a lineup somewhere. He might have needed more grit but he deserved better.

I agree completely. The thing about Johnson is that he was always a background character. He reminds me of the guy in the beginning of Major League, when they're showing how guys get cut at spring training. One guy opens his locker and sees the little tag of paper hanging down, and he slumps his shoulders. Who was that guy? He was never introduced as a character, never had any lines... He was just another guy on the team, and his only distinction is that he was there for a while, and then not.
Johnson seemed to be a good guy, if unspectacular in any role. I wish him the best.
BTW, is your handle a Blade Runner reference? There was a girl back at Western when I was in undergrad who was a dead ringer for Darryl Hannah. Unfortunately, she seemed painfully shy. I'd love to meet her again, just to hear her story.

I'm almost certain he is not going to be a hab now. Its either retirement or the leafs. I think its time we just move on and forget that we went through this whole ordeal in the first place. We can still be excited that we are top flight team with over 7 million dollars in cap space to play with.

Mats' agent is just playing to the court of public opinion and trying to drive up the cost of what it'll take to keep him from "retiring". If you're not part of the negotiations, then you should never take what an agent has to say at face value.
