Have finally taken the plunge after browsing this site for almost a year. The 4 habs have really hit it...funny and representative of the tiresome 3 ring circus that the Mats Sundin sweepstakes have become.

Ronin - welcome! Things are kind of slow right now but really pick up once the season starts. You may want to invest in a flak jacket just to be on the safe side:-)

I don't know what crack you guys are smoking, but if you all think Chantal is hot, you must be smoking something. Granted, she's not bad eye candy, but if the RDS olympic coverage wants to have EVERY guy watching, I would put Annie Pelletier in there. I believe she has done some spots for them before.
Now that's a hot girl working for the camera. AND she has olympic expierience.

I must confess that I'm becoming increasingly surprised at how angry some of the blogs and comments are becoming regarding Sundin's delayed decision. I can understand getting our hopes up because Sundin would be a great addition to the team. But he has never wavered in asserting that he would not make a decision until sometime in August...all other deadlines are meaningless. In no logical way is Sundin hurting the Habs. If he signs with us, then great...we have yet another great offensive player to add to what was already a good offence. But its not like we've missed out on other players waiting for Sundin's decision, for the very reason that there was really not that much on the market this summer worth pursuing. Rolston was never coming here, nor was Hossa. The only defencemen that would be significant upgrades were Campbell and Redden, both of whom were far too costly for Montreal, and Stuart, who was never leaving Detroit. After that, there was nothing on the market that would be a significant upgrade over what Montreal already has on its roster or in the system.
The fact that Bob Gainey has $7 million dollars (or whatever the figure is) of cap money does not mean he has to spend it. I would much rather go through the season with that money unspent (or saved for the trade deadline) than be forced into making tough decisions next summer when Motnreal faces a bevy of players to be re-signed.

NM49 - I never really liked Janis Joplin. I realize she's a legend but she's just not my cup of tea. Same goes for Pavel Bure.

24 - That was Monday Aug-4 , today it's Mamas and the Papas , Dylan and Mary Wells. Steve i think you clicked on the wrong "read more" or missed it.

Bryan - I got the right page now - Elvis, the Beatles, and Dylan were the legends of my time. I saw Bob Dylan live at Massey Hall with the Band (Ronnie Hawkins' old Toronto bar band). First half of the set was Dylan alone on acoustic guitar and the second set was Dylan electrified. It was a very rough ride for Dylan that night - he opened a door that could never be closed again. I'm proud to say that I own every piece of vinyl ever recoded by these three tremendous talents.
I would mention that we are just about to get hit with another thunderstorm but I've been censored on that point so I'll let it slide:-)

The Band as Ronnie Hawkins' old Toronto bar band? Oh come on they were so much more than that... Ever seen The Last Waltz?

Prof - mixed signals here, I think you have have misinterpreted what I was saying. I never implied anything about The Band in terms of being just a bar band. I only threw that in to help with the Toronto timeline (sort of like David Clayton Thomas before Blood, Sweat, and Tears). I know a fair bit about the Band and their development - have been a big fan right from the start.

Sorry about that I guess I just misread the intent... glad to hear you're a fan though! When you put it all into context, to think that Canadians played such a large role in one of music's most important eras with Bob Dylan is pretty impressive, and their solo stuff is amazing. There's just no better driving song than Up On Cripple Creek...

I am not surprised Vancouver was interested in Ryder. Before he signed with Boston, I thought he might go to the Canucks. Play wing with the Sedins a la Anson Carter (where is he now). I never thought I would say this but I am so looking forward to field hockey at the olympics.

Submitted by Ed on Tue, 08/05/2008 - 11:41.
As far as I know, the Montreal media never visited Newfoundland while Ryder was a Hab. Ryder has not played a game with the Bruins yet, and already the Boston Globe has sent one of their people to do a piece on Ryder. I think it was a nice move on their part. It's also interesting to note that he had an offer from Vancouver that was in line with Boston's.
