OK, it's just an excuse to post her picture.

Chantal Machabée is in Beijing. She was hired by the Chinese Olympic organizing committee as the stadium announcer – for field hockey.

As she relates in her RDS column, Machabée was told they  wanted her "Because you hockey specialist."

When Machabée pointed out that she knew nothing about the Summer Games variety of hockey, she was assured: "No problem. You experience, you good."

What they meant was:

"You blonde. You hot. You hired."

Have finally taken the plunge after browsing this site for almost a year. The 4 habs have really hit it...funny and representative of the tiresome 3 ring circus that the Mats Sundin sweepstakes have become.

Ronin - welcome! Things are kind of slow right now but really pick up once the season starts. You may want to invest in a flak jacket just to be on the safe side:-) The Original 24 Cups

I don't know what crack you guys are smoking, but if you all think Chantal is hot, you must be smoking something. Granted, she's not bad eye candy, but if the RDS olympic coverage wants to have EVERY guy watching, I would put Annie Pelletier in there. I believe she has done some spots for them before. Now that's a hot girl working for the camera. AND she has olympic expierience. Jim-out. I BELIEVE!

I must confess that I'm becoming increasingly surprised at how angry some of the blogs and comments are becoming regarding Sundin's delayed decision. I can understand getting our hopes up because Sundin would be a great addition to the team. But he has never wavered in asserting that he would not make a decision until sometime in August...all other deadlines are meaningless. In no logical way is Sundin hurting the Habs. If he signs with us, then great...we have yet another great offensive player to add to what was already a good offence. But its not like we've missed out on other players waiting for Sundin's decision, for the very reason that there was really not that much on the market this summer worth pursuing. Rolston was never coming here, nor was Hossa. The only defencemen that would be significant upgrades were Campbell and Redden, both of whom were far too costly for Montreal, and Stuart, who was never leaving Detroit. After that, there was nothing on the market that would be a significant upgrade over what Montreal already has on its roster or in the system. The fact that Bob Gainey has $7 million dollars (or whatever the figure is) of cap money does not mean he has to spend it. I would much rather go through the season with that money unspent (or saved for the trade deadline) than be forced into making tough decisions next summer when Motnreal faces a bevy of players to be re-signed.

NM49 - I never really liked Janis Joplin. I realize she's a legend but she's just not my cup of tea. Same goes for Pavel Bure. The Original 24 Cups

24 - That was Monday Aug-4 , today it's Mamas and the Papas , Dylan and Mary Wells. Steve i think you clicked on the wrong "read more" or missed it.

24 Cups's picture
Bryan - I got the right page now - Elvis, the Beatles, and Dylan were the legends of my time. I saw Bob Dylan live at Massey Hall with the Band (Ronnie Hawkins' old Toronto bar band). First half of the set was Dylan alone on acoustic guitar and the second set was Dylan electrified. It was a very rough ride for Dylan that night - he opened a door that could never be closed again. I'm proud to say that I own every piece of vinyl ever recoded by these three tremendous talents. I would mention that we are just about to get hit with another thunderstorm but I've been censored on that point so I'll let it slide:-) The Original 24 Cups

Steve - That Dylan concert must be the same tour that i went to at the Old Forum , great concert. it's almost five AM now we are getting the Tstorms.

The Professor's picture
The Band as Ronnie Hawkins' old Toronto bar band? Oh come on they were so much more than that... Ever seen The Last Waltz?

24 Cups's picture
Prof - mixed signals here, I think you have have misinterpreted what I was saying. I never implied anything about The Band in terms of being just a bar band. I only threw that in to help with the Toronto timeline (sort of like David Clayton Thomas before Blood, Sweat, and Tears). I know a fair bit about the Band and their development - have been a big fan right from the start. The Original 24 Cups

The Professor's picture
Sorry about that I guess I just misread the intent... glad to hear you're a fan though! When you put it all into context, to think that Canadians played such a large role in one of music's most important eras with Bob Dylan is pretty impressive, and their solo stuff is amazing. There's just no better driving song than Up On Cripple Creek...

You guys are too picky. Chantal is no Martine Gaillard but she is still easy on the eyes.

Chantal is nice looking enough but by the way they always make a point to show her from the chest up leads me to believe shes getting a bit wide downstairs.

24 Cups's picture
Mike Boone mentioned that Chantal would be an added viewing bonus when I signed up for RDS Habs coverage. That's good enough for me. The Original 24 Cups

MikeL's picture
Or that she has a nice chest.

I always side with a "glass-half-full" view in these matters.

Or a bra fully-full. __________________________________

twilighthours's picture
She certainly doesn't do it for me, and the sports networks' attempt at throwing random "hot" girls on air is lame.

Are you saying that the directors should stay away from shots of strippers behind the Habs bench? __________________________________

Doesn't do it for me either. Never liked blonde.

Hot girls are always welcome on my tv screen.

That's the only thing that should be allowed on TV between whistles!

No, you are not alone. In fact, back in the early RDS days, man, I had to change the channel sometimes. To each his own....

I agree with you. In fact, in that picture, she looks like she could be Celine Dion's little sister.

I happened onto the FHF site about two weeks after they started, and have been a regular ever since. Back then, I posted a few props to them at my site because I thought they merited mass attention. I'm glad to see that today they are one hugely popular blog. It's absolutely nuts that they are lawyers without a shred of political correctness. They had this beaut a few months back on sissy Dave Manson! http://fourhabsfans.blogspot.com/2008/07/brushes-with-habness-dave-manso...

Chuck's picture
Their rant on Mickey Ribs is an all-time classic. It's not for the faint of heart, mind you, but it encapsulates perfectly why that guy didn't deserve a future with the Habs. __________________________________

Chuck And they left out some other details as well.

link?

Chuck's picture
http://fourhabsfans.blogspot.com/search/label/Mickey%20Ribs Actually, they have a number of entries on Mickey; all profanity-laced and spot on the money. The specific one that I was talking about is the second entry down, but they're all well worth a read... even if you'll feel like washing your eyes out after you're finished. :) __________________________________

haha that was an awesome read. I love nothing better than someone being both hostile and smart at the same time. It's extremely effetive.

Their best (and funniest) work is when the have special guest blogger Jaro Halak.

At times, Jaro's accent is a little to thick for me to understand. :) __________________________________

Oh my God yeah that one was absolutely lethal! They burried him big time. Someone that knows Ribeiro had to pass that one on to him! Although I do not know his name, I believe HabFan10 is coming to summit.

I am not surprised Vancouver was interested in Ryder. Before he signed with Boston, I thought he might go to the Canucks. Play wing with the Sedins a la Anson Carter (where is he now). I never thought I would say this but I am so looking forward to field hockey at the olympics.

Ed's picture
As far as I know, the Montreal media never visited Newfoundland while Ryder was a Hab. Ryder has not played a game with the Bruins yet, and already the Boston Globe has sent one of their people to do a piece on Ryder. I think it was a nice move on their part. It's also interesting to note that he had an offer from Vancouver that was in line with Boston's. http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/articles/2008/08/05/ryder_aim...

Ed - I posted the article just for you on the previous thread early this morning , Static , not bad for a mainlander eh! - Here's the segway to DuPont's article ..... http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins/extras/bruins_blog/2008/08/tr...

Ed's picture
I saw that preview yesterday so I knew it was coming. I also know that if I miss something, you will definitely post a link to it. How do you find all those articles? You are much more informative than any blogger I know. Yes, you are a good mainlander, or as Newfoundlanders say, a good CFA (come from away). Keep up the great work nightmare.

Hey vinnydj, did you catch my submission to your 'game' the other day? It was a late entry. I think it's quite good. Here it is: Gainey is saying,"You are touched in the head if you think my plan B is to bring Jan Bulis back to play center for us again."

I saw that lol.

two cents, it's just Parkinson's.!

MikeL's picture
Their countdown on the right hand side of the page is priceless.

They certainly hit the mark didn't they?

Mike Boone's picture
They often do.

Mike, just to be safe, you may want to think about increasing the capacity on HIO before Mats makes his final decision. Unless he signs with the Habs or retires, the "b____fest" that is going to ensue will break all prior thread records.

Moey's picture
Those hamsters are going to be pooped! Better bring in some spares just to be safe, maybe toss in a couple of ferrets!

Big Bird's picture
They are going to need extra horsepower (pardon the pun) so I think horses would be more appropriate, no?

Moey's picture
C'mon BB, a horse can't fit in a server, that's why they use hamsters.

Just don't use gerbils.

Moey's picture
But if you have no choice, make sure you have a big can of Fabreeze handy.

Mine obviously needs an upgrade, as it only uses lab mice. __________________________________
