Today's math problem:
If Tampa Bay is giving Andrej Meszaros, who made $984,200 in Ottawa last season, in excess of $4 million per for the next six years, what kind on money and duration can Mike Komisarek, who'll make $1.9 million this season, expect in his next contract?
Hint: Make sure your calculations include Hits, Blocked Shots and the estimated sanity of the Lightning's new ownership, who evidently learned nothing from the Brad Richards debacle.

NHL Network is playing game 5 montreal vs quebec (1982). well, at least in the states. not sure if the network in canada has the same schedule.
Is this the playoff game when Larry Robinson gave a bone-crushing, mid-ice bodycheck to one of the Stastny brothers?!? God, I could watch that all friggin' day!!! :)
I remember those days, everyone was breathing and living hockey back then.
like now?
Canadas Team, Gods Team You name it The Habs are it
It was more than now I think, the battle of Quebec was reeling in even the casual fan. Everybody had an opinion.
From Spector's: "Steve Simmons [of the Toronto Sun] reports all signs point to Mats Sundin retiring, noting that his off-season habits this year have been different to that of previous years, particularly in getting into playing shape. While his agent suggests Sundin might play half a season Simmons notes the former Leafs captain rejected that notion during the Stanley Cup Finals."
If he had made his mind up about retiring, hed have spoken up by now I would think...If he does retire, he better wail like a baby at his press conference if he hopes to get any sympathy.
I would prefer him to retire than play half a season.
Those half season are bull and they should change the last date for this to an ealier date, like last day of 2008, instead of the trade deadline.
I would actually love to get Selanne: a RW is needed if SK is going to center.
Ok, never going to happen...
I would also have like a Schneider for Bouillon trade... But he has another year in his contract after this season. But think about it: he will play with Markov on the PP for one season, pick up great stats along the way. If we need to, we could trade him next year.
Yes, this was posted below. But it is still interesting speculation.
ESPN Classic game is the New Years Eve with the Red Army,in case anyone interested.
Am watching it right now. 2-0 Canadiens.
Let me know how it turns out! ;]
I never really appreciated how good Serge Savard was until I saw that game. He was dominant. He must have played close to thirty minutes, and he was just great. And what a skater Mahovlich was! The long, smooth stride. Wow! The Habs SO should have won that game. If Dryden had managed to completely stop either of the pucks that trickled through him, or Tretiak wasn't quite so great...oh well, it was still a great game.

JT ,was at this game as a 18 year old. This was the first time since that I have watched.Just have always felt, even though all rave about the game as possibly the greatest game ever, that something was missing and today I realize what...a VICTORY!! If you never had the chance to see the "big three" in action ,pure magic. There never has been or probably ever will again be a team having 3 All-Star defensemen playing together. We had great goaltending and forwards but these guys made us dominant.
I was there as a 27-year-old, and I still think it was the greatest hockey game ever. Red Fisher demurs, pointing to the one-sidedness of the SoG, the weakness of Dryden, etc. But given the atmosphere in the Forum and the up-and-down, free-skating quality of the game ... amazing. And what a contrast to that circus in Philadelphia, when the Flyers gooned Red Army, to the delight of their idiot fans.
Have two other games I enjoyed more;
Game 5 against Chicago in 1973, we lost 8-7 with Dryden and Esposito in goal.Back and forth all night, non stop action and goals.
Game 1 against Flyers (Broad Street Bullies)in 1976, we won 4-3 with Canadiens challenging Schultz in all three periods (and it was all over except the fat lady singing...sorry Kate). The first period had Risebourgh jumping on Schultz's back and literally hanging on for dear life but it set the tone.
I agree with Red, in the greatest game ever...two teams show up. I vote game 2 of the '71 Bruins series, or the Game 7 of that years final as being way superior.
The Red Army game was still one of the most exciting ever.
It's too bad we can never watch those games ever on a tape or DVD.
Seems they were copied over by some nut in CBC.
I wonder if the National Archives in Ottawa has the 1971 game 7 final?
Been trying for years to get this game film.
It was also televised in the States on CBS and they have not been very co-operative with my request!
Let's hop ethe Club will find to add some archive footage on their DVD set coming out in the fall!
"We will win the Cup only with Carey Price in the nets"
Lucky you! I've only seen it on DVD. However, I did see Robinson play, and having seen the other two on video, I'm amazed. They were brilliant, and very lucky to be playing together.
