After reading the various uniformed comments by certain people who have never seen Desharnais play I truly hope this kid as well as Beauregarde prove these dolts wrong. dolt can also be spelled mbplekfan for those interested.

Thanks for the report Naila. Interesting observation on Chips.

Naila - good to hear from you again. A calm voice, in a turbulent storm. Enjoyed reading your blog - especially about New York. It's the type of place Canadians need to visit every few years. My wife and daughter rule Canal Street!

Nice blog Naila. I enjoyed reading your impression of training camp. What kind of yoga did you try?

It was Hatha, I believe. Though it was just an initiation course, so basic postures and positions.

Desharnais could be the next Brière or St-Louis. I don't mean he'll put up the points they did but they are of similar sizes and they have had very nice careers so far. Theoren Fleury was like 5'4 and played in a league were midgets were unauthorized. And right now the rules have changed so we see a lot more teams drafting players even if they are a bit small.

He's got talent and leadership. Add him 10 inches and he would have been a 1st round draft choice without a doubt.

We got him for nothing, he was invited by the Canadiens mainly because he played for the Sagueneens, was undrafted and Guy Carbonneau is the owner of the junior club.

Oh and Ryder played in the ECHL before making the camp. I would not mind the surprise. At worst we may be able to trade him to a team that will give him a chance for a draft pick!

Great rebuttal to the troll , and i don't think Henri Richard was 6' also.

Shelve the insults nightmare, Briere is a fluke, Fleury was over 5.6" and name the current nhl regulars who need a chair to reach 5,8".

The real prospects are Max Pac, Dagostini, Stewart, Belle, Valentenko, Maxwell and JT Wyman. Desharnais is a fetish for the french media that follows the team, and apparently for you too.

I see in your world that you do not believe in equal opportunity.

Don't see it like that, but if his name WAS Smith he wouldn't be mentioned very often....just a reality of life. Nothing wrong with stating it, the likelihood he makes the NHL IS a very long shot regardless of what other like-sized talents may have done in the past.

If he is in the AHL at 5'5, he still has serious skills. That isn't the problem though.

Laraque will make them Pay the Price!

It was reported that the Canadiens training camp guide front page features a photo of three captains - Beliveau, Serge Savard, and Koivu. Also on the cover, a photo of perhaps the next captain...Mike Komisarek. It is posible for one of the HIO photog's could feature that photo at this site?

Realistically-speaking, barring an overwhelming performance AND a trade, there really is no opening for any of the rookies into the current lineup.

I hope Desharnais dazzles (at least in camp) the way he does in the E - he's just amazing to watch.

The E is a long way from the NHL. Desharnais will probably underwhelm in the A and never get a sniff at the Big league. If his name was Smith and he was a prospect for the leafs he would be a running joke.

Focus on the real prospects not undersized franco's with no future.

Isn't he like 5'5''

Lats was fourth speed wise yesterday and apparently Laps is quicker too. Price has dropped over 20 pounds and Kovy has dropped 10.

How does Maxwell look? He's got a lot of ground to make up after being hurt most of the last two years. And what about Desharnais? I'm particularly rooting for him as the lap-underdog.
