Canadiens reassign 18

posted by Pat Hickey at 10h19 EST on Sep 29

The Canadiens made their first major cuts today, sending P. K. Subban and Olivier Fortier back to their junior teams while assigning 16 others to Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

Heading to Hamilton are goaltenders Cédric Désjardins and Loic Lacasse; defencemen Shawn Belle, Pavel Valentenko and Chad Anderson and forwards Brock Trotter, Ryan White, .J.T. Wyman, Mike Glumac, Olivier Latendresse, Yanick Lehoux, Ryan Flinn, Mathieu Aubin, Ryan Russell, David Desharnais and Thomas Beauregard.

Still with the team: Yannick Weber, Max Pacioretty, Ben Maxwell, Matt D'Agostini, Gregory Stewart, Kyle Chipchura, and Marc Denis.

Editor's note: This is Pat Hickey's first official post to Habs Inside/Out. The Gazette beat man had knee surgery several weeks ago and is still theoretically on the DL. Pat would like to thank the pressbox regulars who chipped in to buy him an eyepatch and a parrot.

What happened to Alex Henry? Is he still with the team?

Read below.

I thought Max Paccioretty's nickname was Patch - or Patches - I read it somewhere, because his name is pronounced "Patch-a-ready".

TSN is reporting that Chicago placed Khabibulin on waivers today. Looks like Huet isn't seen as just a #1A or #1, but as someone who looks better than the great and expensive Khabibulin. Good for Cristo.

Welcome to your new home, Pat!

Did your counter record 300 visitors on the weekend?

What's the situation with Alex Henry and Conrad Martin?

twocents's picture

Henry is still in camp. Martin is a mystery to me.

Have been wondering the same thing.Martin was invited to the camp and we had 52 players. They signed Mayers and sent him back to juniors and then we seemed to have 50.Perhaps Martin ,who doesn't belong to Montreal but is on an AHL contract with Hamilton was sent to the Bulldog's camp then.Remember us sending players that belonged to Hamilton down before their camp started last year.

Thanks for the post, Mr. Fisher. I'm so happy that Weber is still with the big club. A little disappointed that PK is gone, but he'll be back, I'm sure.

The Bulin Wall has been placed on waivers.

HAB-PROFESSOR's picture

keep it simple.
plek,kostyjr,kostysr,kovy,koivu,hig,chip,latron,kostop,cube,komi,markov,obryne
larock,hammr,gorges,pax,stew and lastly, breeze.

Bugs's picture

YOU keep it simple then, professor. We're goin' all out.
It's Plecky, prof. The Brothers K, Elder and Younger. Kovy or The Artiste. Saks. Higgy. Chippy. Gui. Tom the Bomb. Komo. Marky. O.B.. Big George. Lappy. Dandy. Stevie. Frankie. The Hamr. Gorgeous Gorges. Pac-Man, Stewie and The Breezer. Let's not forget Jaro and The Priceberg.
Forgive my ignorance though, but who's "The Cube"?
Peace Out.

Chorske's picture

I think Pleks has been more common on here than Plecky.
The AKs are the AKs plus their number i.e. AK27. Calling Kovy "the artiste" doesn't really work does it? This is a guy who bashed tucker's head in with his forearm, so 'artiste' only tells part of the story.
Cube is a great nickname.
Komisaurus as well. Komisaurus Rex.
And don't the guys use Chipper?

Bugs's picture

Call them what you want, Chorske.
The players call them Plecky and Komo; what do you want from ME?
As for The Artiste "not working for Kovy"???
Are you new in town? Have you never heard this moniker for Kovy before?
The Tucker-bash was SUPREME Artistry! Another masterpiece in his portfolio.
He will always be The Artiste.
The "Aks" is fine. "The Cube" is fine. "Chipper" is fine.
Mais on appelle Kovalev l'Artiste. Ça, c'est coulé dans le béton, mon ami.
Welcome to Montreal, mate!
Peace Out.

Bouillon ... get it?

HAB-PROFESSOR's picture

Bouilion "cube"....also the fact he plays like a GRANITE CUBE!

Bugs's picture

Frankie??!! The Cube is Frankie???
But...but...
What about "Frankie"? "Frankie"'s cute. MANLY cute, of course.
Can I still say "Frankie"?
Oh, and I don't know about Lang or Tanguay's nicknames, if they have any or if we have to make'em up. I don't have their FILE with me at the present. I'll have my people in Vegas fax them into me later.
Til then, all I could propose is "Tangy" and "Langy". Short and sweet but lame as hell.
So then you move on to "Red Tang" and "Lang Dang Silver" which is hardly any better.
Bottom-line: I got nuthin' for them. Bastiches'll have to wait their turn.
My people are busy.
Peace Out.

For the Irish in the house:
Lang = Langer.

How about Tango?

LeGrosBill's picture

Tango is good, how about Gang Bang Lang (from FHF)?

The Cube = Bouillon
