Bedtime Chatter : Robert L's "Eye on the Prize" has been spotted on Puck Daddy and Sean Leahy's Going Five Hole blog to name a few. Bolt's put Michel Ouellet on waivers and trade Nick Tarnasky c/w to Nashville for a 5th/6th 2009 pick , Wild send Corey Locke to Houston , Islander's 'D' Andy Sutton and Chris Campoli will miss the opener due to injuries and Yann Danis (G) is still one of three goalies in camp. Black Hawks Khabibulin was placed on waivers and Cristobal Huet burnt for 7 goals against the high scoring BlueJackets and had 15 saves. Lidstrom and Datsyuk will not dress against the Habs Tuesday night. King's send Jonathan Bernier (G) to Manchester and their cap space is 24.757 million and Sandis Ozolinsh turned down the Kings when they offered him a spot on 'D', that's sad. leafs beat the blues in a shootout tonight. they were so excited. You would think they won the stanley cup. Didn't the blues have the worst defence in the NHL last year? Guess beating the blues is the best leafs can hope for this year. After all, Grabovski is their #1 center. heck, he wasn't even good enough to be our #4 center. I'm going to really enjoy beating the leafs in all 6 games this year.

Happy for him! Congrat Yvon, I still much RDS over CBC though. Maybe CBC ratings will only go up from here.

Huet gave up 7 goals on 22 shots vs. CBJ tonight.

Does anyone know if the habs-bruins game on Wednesday night is being televised? on RDS? TSN? NESN?

I don't see it listed at all. Looks like another CJAD get together on here.

Was driving through Toronto this weekend and saw a billboard that read "Is Toronto the destination in Canada for professional sports teams...that lose?"
lost it. someone is starting to realize there's a pattern there.

Yes ,it was quite the article from Howard Berger of all people. Really dissing everyone from owners to fans to media for putting up with it and passively contributing.Caused a bit of a furor but TO probably has forgotten already. The only thing I have every read from the guy that made sense.Had always considered him one of the biggest in self denial there.

Summit game tickets that you will receive this week will have two different prices on them.
Some of them were Molson's promotion tickets, that we secured for regular price so that we could all attend. Hope that is understood.
Please pay attention for the time of our pre game dinner and location that I will post in the coming days.
See you all Friday evening around the hotel.
Our HIO group will be introduced to the Bell Center fans during the game. So bring your signs.

i can't stand pj stock. his radio show is so boring. all he does is ramble and ramble and thinks he's making intelligent points. all he did was have a few cups of coffee in the big leagues and he never played a major role on any of the teams he played for. and i love when he talks about other sports, he is so lost. i have no idea why this guy is on tv or the radio ...

Here is my impression of PJ Stock:
"You're crazy if you think your kids are ready to step up into the big leagues. The second they go up against the Bruins, they'll realize they're not in junior anymore.
How can you expect Kovalev to repeat? Everyone will be watching him and whereas I said last year that the smart way to play Kovalev was to give him space, well this year, he'll have NO space and he won't be able to deke anybody out anymore. Especially the Bruins.
There's no way Saku can captain this team. He has to win the Cup this year or he'll be the longest running captain without one. He's getting old and he STILL doesn't have proper linemates and the Bruins'll see him coming a mile away. I don't even think Saku wants to be here anymore. He,s sick and tired of all the CRAP in this city. THIS CITY, I'm telling you; you're all nuts!
You still need some defense. You shoulda gone after Schneider when you had the chance. Now, you're defense is weak and the Bruins are gonna exploit it easily.
Your "phenom" goalie proved only one thing: that he choked cuz he was too fat. The Bruins are on to you now. They're gonna aim for his weak glove side and run him over in the crease.
And George ain't gonna put out too many fires. He's just gonna do his thing.
Bottom-line is Montreal is getting waaaay too excited for what amounts to a team that's gonna struggle to get to the playoffs.
Unlike the Bruins. Hey, I'm just telling you what ALL the guys are thinking. That's how it is.
Think about it: If ONLY Boston had won half their games against you last year, we woulda (I mean, "they" woulda) been tied with Mtl in the standings.
Boston is JUST AS GOOD as Montreal except in areas where Boston is better.
Montreal still has A LOT of questionmarks.
Know who you should be watching for in the east this year? Boston."
How'd I do? Did you believe it?
Peace Out.

He was very good on RDS.
But he's bloody brilliant on 110%.
PJ Stock doesn't get a word in; it's great! When he tries, Yvon gives him a look that says it all, "Boy, your anti-Hab agenda is NO skin off my nose. You won't get a rise outta me by accusing me of wanting Saku out've town, so what else you got?"
Yvon knows how to handle spit-disturbers!
Who knew?
Hope he becomes a regular on the show.
Good deal for the CBC. (They'll probably affect him to leaf games; how much you wanna bet?)
Peace Out.

I'm glad for Pednault. I didn't think it was fair the way he was dropped by RDS. They say he's very well connected around the NHL ... that will help the CBC, IMHO...

Haha I like Mike Milbury hiring, he's funny, and he's not quite as dumb as people think. With him, you just can't let him run a team, but for analyzing, I think he's a funny guy.
CBC should get Nick Kypreos. Here in Mississuaga, I regularly see him on Sportsnet Ontario on Hockeycentral and on the FAN 590 in Toronto. He's very tough and asks good questions. He doesn't cozy up to people, he asks them straight. Plus, what I also like, in the midst of constant leaf lvoers, he provides a sensible, logical alternative and tells it like it is.

Submitted by Exit716 on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 20:18.
Kypreos was also the first one of the main stream media to mention that Pittsburgh was about to steal Hossa from Montreal at the trade deadline.

Wait, Pednault was dumped? Why? I felt he was the best RDS had to offer. Am I missing something here? What happened?

Submitted by Hoegarden on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 19:51.
Tons of emails asking RDS to make a change.
It's like your average restaurant, the menu (comments) was always the same and then it just became a notch above boring.
Just think of Cherry, can you not guess what he's going to say ??

Submitted by JasonM on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 20:41.
Well if you watch the same team and the players made the same mistake, odds are, he'll say the same thing! I found him informative and honest. He did it with class and I thought he was pretty solid compared to the likes of say Brunet.
If they would ever drop Demers though, OHH I'd be one pissy habs fan

Ya and like Mike has mentioned previously, Pednault had whipping boys... And I think we all know which language they spoke.

Okay, so the CBC has 'Team Loser' featuring Cole and Millen for the leafs and they have Brown and Galley as 'Team Spartan' for the janitors. Where's our 'homer' crew? Who wants to bet that we will be saddled with Cole and Millen again during our play-off run for number 25?
You know the GM's throughout the league will be glued to their sets on Saturday night to hear Milbury's wisdom during his Hot Stove talks, and do the exact opposite. Mike Milbury is to hockey, what George W. Bush is to politics.
Nothing the CBC does surprises me anymore, that's why I'll be watching RDS, even though my comprehension of the French language is remedial, at best.

We are supposed to be getting Hughson and Simpson...definitely an upgrade.Even if they are from out west.Mark Lee and his partner are to take over there, making Hughson/Simpson the "A" Team of HNIC.Still would like to get my hands on one of your sweaters or tee shirts ,whatever you have done up DD.

Frank, I will be making a bunch of my shirts to raffle or sell at the Summit to help out with our collective contribution for the Gainey Foundation. Are you going to the Summit?
...and I do believe the 'powers that be' in the CBC will stick us with those two idiots during our play-off run this year.

Put me down for a shirt if you please. If it pokes fun at the laffs then I'm all for that ;-)

Still up in the air.Am waiting for some minor surgery so can't plan too far forward. It would be nice to but...let me know and if I'm unable to attend ,would still like a chance to obtain one.Son #2 is a big maple laff fan (he was born there), so want for him...and he is more critical of them then me.

I'm curious as to why Yvon Pednault was dumped by the RDS crew. Nightmare_49 suggests a political agenda. Any takers on this?

Submitted by G-Man on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 17:53.
His contract expired. There were a few rumours about his not getting along with Pierre Houde, the play-by-play man, but I think it was his penchant for picking on 1 Habs player every season that allowed RDS to end it without a fuss. No one needs too much negativity, especially this season.

Me thinks semi-retired with him only doing Saturday night games in Toronto. He does commute from the Rock.TO of course, love him and don't want to let him go.Being as how he is in his 70's and is one of the few people left alive who was present at their last Cup...Seriously, believe I heard 25 games.

NHL.com has RDS and TSN broadcasting tomorrow's game vs Detroit. I thought the next RDS telecast was Oct 4. Is this an error on the NHL site, or has there been a change in plans for RDS? Anyone?

You see, even Ottawa has their own broadcast crew with Dean Brown and Garry Galley, yet the Habs haven't had one since *** Irvin retired or was forced out by CBC. But it is a step in the right direction having Hughson and Simpson calling games in the east than that senile old windbag Knob Hole and his no personality flunky Greg Millen. I would still like to see the Habs get their own CBC crew or The Score get rights to Hab games in english.

Submitted by J.T. on Mon, 09/29/2008 - 16:00.
That's great news about Stock, if he's got to be on there at all. I can't stand him as an analyst. He's bombastic, hysterical and loud. And, according to Scott Moore, Habs fans will be getting more "A" game coverage this year, so Hughson should be calling our team's games fairly often.

Watch us end up with the sad duo of Cole and Millen most of the time and the CBC deserves Pednault without his political agenda.
