Cherry says Habs will contend for East crown

Shocking but true, traditional Habs hater Don Cherry has stated he believes the Canadiens can compete for the Eastern Conference title this season.

Cherry credits the Habs chances to the team's coaching staff, led by Guy Carbonneau and Kirk Muller, as one of the main reason's for the team's strong potential.

He also says goaltender Carey Price will be a key piece of the puzzle and likes the acquisition of Robert Lang.

"I don't see [that] they need anything," Cherry said.

Watch Cherry change tunes in a hurry if we happen to meet the Bruins in the playoffs. Suddenly it'll be,
"The Habs are an overachieving team! Bruins coulda beat'em last year! If they had scored goals and not let any in, they woulda won! The Habs are soft! I say Bruins in five! Mark my words! If the Habs win? It's because they cheated! And it makes me SICK to see how much the refs love'em! It's a disgrace to hockey! The Bruins should win!"
And P.J. Stock'll go,
"Yeah, man! That's what I'm sayin'! Plus, their goaltending is suspect! Building this kid up, it's crazy! This kid who has shown NOTHING! It's the defence that made him look good! They're too soft! They'll get CREAMED in the playoffs! This city! They're all nuts! Bruins should win!"

There's no hate, Von. If there was, I'd be lying or exaggerating or something.
Why didn't you ask me about the hate for Grapes?
Because you knew I wasn't lying or exaggerating and that's what Grapes would say.
As for P.J., listen to him almost everyday. Don't you? Is that NOT what he would say? I thought I had it down pretty good. No libel or misquoting AT ALL.
Am I wrong? Where's the hate?
Think he's pretty good on CBC. Better than on 990 in fact.
But I honestly think he would be BRILLIANT in Bahston. He'd be a star; I honestly believe that.

totally agree with you. i listen to him online at work here in SF and he he's always bitter against the habs. was it because he's a piss poor player and we didn't see any need for him and yes, he played a career high 71 games with the bruins one year but only averaged 6 minutes a game. why he landed a full time job on team 990 is beyond me. he sucks as a radio host and he rambles and rambles and especially today he went off on why the canucks shouldn't have named Luongo the captain cuz he can't wear the "C" on his jersey? so many good ex-NHLers who live in the montreal area who would be better on the air than him. he should count his blessings and be lucky to have that job and his job with HNIC (wtf?). he has no knowledge, and no charisma and his musical taste sucks ... so yeah, i'm a PJ Stock hater. and so should you. it's midnight in San Fran. and that's my rant, as an ex-montrealer. peace out.
