Kovy come home: all is forgiven

posted by Mike Boone at 19h15 EST on Feb 19

Carbo hockey lasted one night.

And this 5-4 mess wasn't exactly Jacques Plante vs. Terry Sawchuk

3P 00:00:

Not inspiring

3P 00:30:

Lines all messed up

3P 1:30:

Stewart and Kostopoulos?

3P 3:00:

Not a great night for the Captain. Tired

3P Break.:

Very disillusioning

3P 4:15:

Icing, with the Lapierre line on

3P 5:00:

max-Pac with no helmet, busting his butt

3P 6:13:

No defence. None. Price in a shooting gallery

3P 7:18:

Now Frankie is banged up

3P Break.:

Ugly game. Neither team belongs in the postseason.

2P 9:00:

This must be killing Carbo

2P 10:00:

Total chaos in the Canadiens' end

3P 11:45:

Last shot wins

3P 12:42:

Gorges broke his stick.

Gonchar didn't. 5-4

Absurd

3P 13:29:

HE IS ON FIRE!!!!!!

Pleks, from Max-Pac

4-4

3P Break.:

Schneider is minus-4. Maybe they've just burned him out a bit. He was great last night.

3P 14:04:

The Pleks line is carrying the team

3P 15:00:

Chipchura cannot play for this team!

3P 16:47:

It AIN'T OVER!!

AK46

4-3

3P 17:00:

Schneider is playing like a very old defenceman who's had too many minutes. Saku and D'Ag were horrible also.

4-2

2P 18:00:

Momentum totally with Pittsburgh. What a collapse

2P 19:00:

Schneider is minus-3

2P 19:31:

It started with a D'Agostini giveaway. Horrible

3-2

ING Direct guy:

Have you ever seen someone dressed like that at a minor hockey game?

2P 20:00:

If the Canadiens play their game ...

Senators:

Getting smoked at home by Vancouver

Mike Richards:

Six shorthanded goals this season.

JT on the second:

-Does every NHL player lie on his stats? Because if Higgins is really six feet tall and two hundred pounds, he's the world's weakest six-footer. I'll bet he couldn't even ring the bell at the fair.

-Hmmm...two games without Kovalev on their line for Plekanec and Kostitsyn. Plekanec, two goals. Kostitsyn three points. I'm just sayin'...

-Price with another soul-sucking goal against. I guess I shouldn't be surprised the shot-tipper was Satan, right?

-I wonder what kind of gum Carbo chews during the game, and if it has any crack in it?

-Mathieu "The Bomb" Schneider. Honestly, if the Habs need a seventh next year, and if he'll play for Breezer's salary...

-Okay, look, Carbo. I like Stewie and the Bomb and Lappy as much as anyone. But they CANNOT be out there with thirty seconds to go on a powerplay. I don't care how much you've used the top guys...it's like putting Larry the Cable Guy on stage at La Scala to sing an aria.

-Could the Habs finally be coming to life? Tomorrow is "wear your team jersey to work day" in honour of Hockey Day in Canada. Please, don't let me be embarrassed to wear the bleu-blanc-rouge. Please?

2P 00:00:

Not a classic

1P 00:40:

Where did Brunet get the idea that Chipchura was a good faceoff man?

2P 00:50:

Schneider makes a great first pass

2P 2;00:

Magic by Koivu line

2P Break:

Canadiens have two goals on 10 shots. Very strange game.

2P 3:40:

Kostopoulos and Stewart on the PP?

2P 4:56:

That's what they got him for! And the PP continues.

2-2

2P 5:10:

I don't know about D'Ag on the PP. Here's a 5-on-3

2P 6:50:

What a play by AK46 to Pleks to Max-Pac

2P 8:00:

BGL, Chipchura ... what's on the other channel?

2P 8:29:

Max had time. Didn't use it.

2P Break:

Is it me or does this game suck? Shots are 15-6.

2P 9:45:

Weak PP. No shots. Six on the game

2P Break:

Once again, this team can't stand prosperity.

2P 12:35:

Tired forwards, D backing in and Satan redirects a point shot

2-1

2P 13:38:

Alright, AK!!! What a pass

1-1

2P 15:00:

Through 25 minutes, four shots.

2P 15;30:

If Crosby had a finisher ...

2P 16:00:

What a contrast to last night, for both teams

1P 16:40:

Chipchura an NHLer? I'm far from convinced

1P 17:40:

Gee, Gill is soft for his size

1P 18:50:

Nice shot by AK46

2P 19:40:

Frankie is good for at least one blaster like that per game

Schneider's ice time:

Almost nine minutes. Crazy. Who was yelling in the room behind Bouillon

2P 20:00:

Lucky it's a one-goal game. We'll see if the boys have anything in the tank at the end of this brutal road trip.

Joël Bouchard says ...:

Canadiens have to e faster to the puck. Demers points out Ryan Malone's 20th tonight for Tampa. He might have saved Therrien's job.

Florida and Buffalo:

Both losing 1-0

Faceoffs:

Canadiens were 15-5 but didn't get the one they needed on the PP.

JT on the first:

-I wish the Habs still had the luxury of sending their hardworking vets to Florida for a week before the playoffs start. Hammer looks like he could use some fun in the sun. Or at least a shot of vitamin D. Or a shot.

-Crosby would be absolutely terrifying if he had a regular linemate of the quality of Nicklas Backstrom. How has this team, with the examples of Tampa and Ottawa before it, managed to lock itself into a couple of great stars and no supporting cast?

-Speaking of Crosby, you know that Timbits commercial, the one where the Crosby bus breaks down and he plays hockey on the pond with the kids while he's waiting for it to be fixed? I'm probably the only person in the world who wishes the kid would say, "NO, you can't play, you whiny baby!"

-I figure Laraque must make about a hundred grand per punch. Nice work if you can get it, Code or not. I weep to think he's with this team for thirty punches after this season.

-Hungry for the win? The Pens look like a fat guy at the Olive Garden, Habs like Ghandi protesting British rule.

-Running tally for Komisarek's continued services now standing at around 2.8 million per year. Seriously, right now, that's very fair.

-Bloody airlines. They lost the Habs' forecheck, skating legs and heart on the flight from Washington.

-Lost faceoffs kill this team. Well...among other things. They're like cats that way.

-Wow...I'd forgotten what a real bomb from the point looked like until Schneider came along. Is it too early to get hopeful when the Habs have a PP again?

-What's happened to Lapierre? He's like a girl who gets into fantastic shape for her wedding and rocks the pictures. Then, at her first anniversary she's got pimples and greasy hair and she's thirty pounds overweight. And you wonder which one is the girl you married.

-Three shots? Ovechkin had more in the first five minutes last night. Does Gainey need to stand in the room with a riding crop every night?

-I think the best word to describe that period is "endured."

1P 00:00:

A better opponent would be up 3-0

1P 1:09:

Lapierre has two giveaways on one shift and the Canadiens, Brunet says, have no legs

1P 2:00:

Pleks loses the faceoff and the first wave has trouble setting up. Koivu wave is no better

1P 4:00:

Two shots in 16 minutes, but here comes the PP

1P Break:

Great sequence for Higgins. If could only score ...

1P 6:00:

Again, a fourth line gives them fits.

1P Break:

Bit of a rough patch. I wouldn't want this to go to 2-0.

1P 7:40:

Price fighting it a bit, eh?

1P 8:30:

Canadiens have two shots

1P 9:33:

Really bad rebound, Carey And Hamrlik was soft on Sykora

1-0

1P 10:34:

Know what I love? Short, efficient, completed passes that move the puck forward

1P 11:28:

That PP looks like they're trying to get the new guy fired

1P 12:56:

Cheezy call

1P 13:00:

Nice. Komo lays out Fetodenko

1P Break:

Stuttering start.

1P 14:50:

RDS guys say that was a renewal of Bell Centre hostilities, but that was Godard and Alex Henry

1P 15:08:

Good puck support by the forwards again tonight

1P 16:00:

Crosby needs better linemates

1P 17:00:

Sid against Koivu

1P 17:45:

Penguins start slow. Strange team

1P 19"00:

Malkin against Pleks

1P 19:52:

Fleury's first freeze

1P 20:00:

20 for 60, one more time

Bouchard on Kovy:

Quoting Joe Paterno: You don't play for the name on the back of your jersey, you play for the crest in front

Price:

Will have to be good, especially early

Benoit Brunet:

Liked Schneider and Markov. Me, too.

Penguins need it more:

But who wants it more? Welcome to Sports Cliché Central, where we play 'em one game at a time.

This will not be easy:

And I hope the Canadiens don't think it will be.

François Gagnon:

Forget Letang for Kovy. Canadiens, he says, are a better team with Kovalev – when he wants to play. But he's been uninterested for two weeks. Gagnon hopes Kovy will be back with a new attitude.

Features on Letang, Talbot:

Who cares?

Guy Lafleur:

Hey, I love the Flower. But his next coaching, management or scouting job in the NHL will be his first.

That Komo pass last night:

Brutal

Joël Bouchard:

Really likes Dan Bylsma and his assistant, Tom Fitzgerald

Crosby:

Not all happy with what's gone down this season

Pittsburgh:

Seven of next eight on the road. They REALLY need this one.

Price:

Beat Penguins for his first NHL win. Hasn't lost to them since.

Hamrlik:

Decision after the warm-up, says Luc Gélinas

Kovy's remarks:

Carb says he's happy with Kovy's denial. As if ...

Kovy:

Back at practice tomorrow? That's the buzz. Crazy.

Kris Letang:

Healthy scratch tonight

Finally the journalists are turning on Guy "the inept" Carbonneau.

Habitant in Surrey's picture
...roughly translated excerpt from the LaPresse 'expose' ..."From what The Press has learned, the two young stars (Kostytsin brothers) of the Canadiens are NOT suspected of any criminal activity. ...Same for Hamrlik." ...I think this season many of Our young players (and older ones ...per Hamrlik) are learning some Life Lessons ...the hard way ...but I am greatly relieved this is not what was rumored ..and hope they learn something from this close call ...make them realize that if you 'hang with dirt', you WILL get Dirty yourself !...hope it will help them clean up their acts ...and concentrate on what's important ...a LOT of Wake-up Calls going off for a lot of guys ...this Team as a result may ironically finally be coming together to play HOCKEY Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=423049

...I really hope it has not anything to do with Carey Price ...he has been VERY disconnected for several weeks ...completely a different person ... Habitant means PASSIONATE HOCKEY http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=423049

Talk about blowing something way out of proportion. Just more proof as to how big those tools known as the french media are. I mean come on, big deal. The Kost bros. and Hamrlik is a non story. http://5-10andagamemisconduct.blogspot.com/

So back to hockey. Next for games before the end of the month - Sens, Nucks, Philly and Sharks. I say we will lose in OT to sens and will promptly blow the next three. By then there will be another story in the media about Kovalev and Price involved in slave trade and everybody will again forget about all this is Gainey's and Carbo's fault.

ddawwidd's picture
Geez man, how I wish we still had those quality executives like Houle or Tremblay... Zut, how Gainey managed to destroy this '90's powerhouse? :/

forskis's picture
I say they will beat Ott...maybe lose in OT to Van (if not win)...and either win or lose to Philly in OT...

Montrealer2's picture
I am now seeing more distrust in this management style, what hapenned to ,being the best you can be,,,,,,We've ruined Carey Price to the point where ,we may as well trade him now, while other GM's think we've gone crazy & they are stealing a FRANCHISE Saviour,.....let them have him now ,While we can still get a large return (aka) larger forwards (who know where to shoot without a GPS) .........and maybe a D man who can backcheck ,but also knows when to make the transition & go the other way.......We have a terrible group of players who don't seem to Rememeber when to change direcxtion,.they float around 'looking' for someone to pass the puck to.....whatever happpened to bringing the puck out of your own end & trying to 'maintain' control of the puck in all ends of the rink, If you've got the puck & your headed in the right direction ,then you cannot lose.....If you Lose the Puck while being aggressive ,then you skate backwords till you regain puck control ,& Go the other Friggin Way,.............and shoot at the net.........NO BIG SECRET.... Watch DETROIT Videos if you want to Understand transition games,......... Watch NJ if you want to understand Defensive games......Is this a big secret? If it is then let's the secret 'out of the bag'............Control the Puck Always ,attack always .Defend always....... Rememeber the cardinal rules ,from the old days ( Remember when we WON more then LOST)..Cardinal Rules ,....SKATE. PASS. SHOOT (at the net) Please it's a simple game ,that doesn't need to be mad ecomplicated by 'systems' aka : Traps.....etc etc .Every GOOD TEAM in HOCKEY has always played a 'Transition game' that means when you have the puck,..head for the other guys net & try to score..........as soon as you lose the puck ,start heading back the other way,....Remember 'backcheck' and always Remember .If You Have the Puck, then THEY CAN"T SCORE.... .........Now trade Price , Fire Carbo & Stop Buying Poutine .....hahahaha

You have a lot of great points there

Dave and Mike how about just some facts for a change, as I dont think you have your pulse on the fans concerning this story.

Kovy Fans to Carbo Fans lets keep it civil. why do you care so much about your comments. and why do you think that you know THE answer. this is so crazy you don't know it all. Its not ALL Carbo or ALL Kovy or Koivu or BG or anyone in paticular. its total FUBAR This is like watching an accident The crazy investigative Habs journalists: yell at those donkey dueches. what a world that they can do this instead of uncovering the real messed up things in the world that need to be reported. Shame shame shame Police on my back

Part of managing a team is trying to keep the right mix of experience and rookies, this way Vets play a young game and rookies learn how to play older. I am shocked at all thats happened lately but its not that great of a deal in real life. We have teams that are supported by fans who pay for company boxes, with taxes and then have to pay to get in. I wish this club would play as well as the marketing department they have, its a touch like liverpool, suck every dollar you can out of the fans. I wish I was premier of Quebec I would put a SPECIAL TAX on this team. I suppose that nothing will ever change, when true fans can only buy a jersey and wear it with pride.

BUY A JERSEY!! AT THE NEW FORUM? Like dave Chappell say's "I"M RICH ...." 200 bucks . . . i'll stay with my black $20 habs hat. you are so right. On the Bright side at least with this mess less people will like the habs and then not go to the games and we can go back to getting walk up standing room only tickets for 20 bucks. Police on my back

Here's the RDS article about the issue with Andrei K, Sergei K and Roman Hamrlik! http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/269591.html Apparently it's much ado about nothing

Thats the big news, I hate reporters officially now. There are not many places you can go in life where people are crooked. Newspapers are going broke, just a sheet of scandals today

According to la journal de montreal SK has street gang ties

SHUT UP

Ed's picture
It's ok that Kostopoulos was on late in the game looking for the tie goal, as that high scoring forward Gregory Stewart was also on with him.

Tremblay, Savard, Corey era it lasted longer than this. comparable? Collin' out

I have no idea what may or may not have happened, but if events finally have conspired to put the Centennial Season out of it's misery, I'm all for it. Depending on the severity of what unfolds, though they may not be directly responsible for it, I hold those at the top accountable. You drafted these guys and you allegedly managed them.

I am going to say if the police are involved it concerns woman, I swore I would not speculate but everybody else is. Correction quite a few are, the french press comes out soon so we will see what the problem is, I would imagine the online edition will be out soon, I really hope its not bad news. My most treasured memories of the Habs involve my father, as I have been a fan longer then he lived. I expect the worse now as it will explain why the team forgot to play hockey.

JB_15's picture
here is what ive heard on various sites 1 - cops are at the airport waiting for 3 players 2 - fight on the team bus 3 - sportsnet will report it at 1200 am 4 - involves drugs, rape, hit and run 5 - bettman is in montreal 6 - team officials have been in meetings since 8 pm

God, if just a few of the items you list are on the mark, this team is done like dinner going forward. This isn't A-Rod on steroids. Hell, the Yanks come out of the box strong and that whole thing will be consigned to the dustheap of history.

Go Yanks - I might die tonight from chocking on vomit - if it has anything to do with women. I believe that when tried by jury of peers. People on the site may have problems with women. but the Canadiens?!?! Too bad for drugs - 420 365 - but hit and run? I don't cheer for hit and runners. This is nuts. and sad. and probably a leaf fan conspiracy! I'll go to bed thinking that. Collin' out

JB_15's picture
luckily the idiots that report on hockey rumour sites were way off the mark with this one. yawn. can we get back to chasing carbo with torches through the street please.

Man... I jsut watched l'Antichambre on rds.ca and have 2 things to say 1. Thank god no Morrisette and bienvenue Bob Hartley 2. Whatever *** is going to happen sounds pretty bad. 2 things can happen. Either season will completely fold or it will serve as the rallying point for those who want to play for this team 3 things 3. They are finally ripping into carbonneau and gainey.

Xtrahabsfan's picture
Timo ,I have missed eveything today,The drug rumor ,the fight on the bus back?the site's been crashing....W,T.F. is going on,lol

RiverviewCanadien's picture
Hey Timo can you elaborate...I wish it was only concerning Carbo getting fired..but this sounds serious

I don't know man. All they are saying is that it's big, it's bad and it's more than a few beers and a few skirts. They are saying the news will break out tomorrow. As far as Carbonneau and Gainey they were saying how stunned they were to see pluggers on the ice at critical times, and that Gainey in 5 years built a team around the players he now finds out he doesn't know about (Kovalev) and that he doesn't have plan B. So lots of talking but nothing concrete at all. Sorry.

Was it as bad as the highlights on NHL Net? I have given up on watching this nonsense. The only crappy hockey that I want to be involved in for the remainder of the season will be of my own doing. Watch the Habs at 7:00pm or play pickup at West Point at 7:30pm? Get some exercise, play in an NCAA D-1 arena in prime time with friends, or watch the saddest excuse for the Montreal Canadiens in modern memory? Tough choice! I suggest that everyone on HIO get off their asses, get their skates sharpened, get on the ice and enjoy the game. Don't watch this crap. These guys are just imposters. Put on your favorite Habs' jersey and just get out there. For God's sake, have some fun!!!

forskis's picture
Let's see what the fans do first...no matter who wants to play for the team, if the fans want to tar and feather and burn down the Bell Center, there is nothing that can be done. BTW...you almost sound hopeful that the team rallies.

Kevin's picture
I'm reading rumours that the police are waiting for the plane to touch down in Montreal. Just rumours, but whatever is happening can't be good...

Bill's picture
This site is not working at all. I can't reload it for 10 minutes, and when I do, there are two new posts? Anyway, reading that %110 said that some of the Habs were reluctant to go back to Canada? Shoving match on the bus? Criminal charges??? Happy Centennial, everyone! "I guess Gainey is out to prove that you CAN fire 23 players and keep your coach." - Fun Police

Mattee.'s picture
where are you reading this?!

forskis's picture
Based on your signature....if the players are acting the way you have written above and as rumored...the team may very well NEED to fire 23 players (hopefully fewer than 23).

Koivu-3;Higgins-3;Price 5 goals on 28 shots-perhaps the wrong person was sent home Maybe there was something to that 11-2-1 December? Is it time for Carbo, Koivu and Higgins to go??

Agreed!!!!!!! I am a Carbo and Koivu fan but am now thinking it's time for them to go. I would also throw Price in there as well. When Kovy was captain and Koivu was injured, Carbo didn't have any choice but to play Halak. I think Price's struggles have likely had as much if not more to do with this skid then the whole Kovalev thing. And really, if your coach insists on playing a 21 goalie in the midst of a meltdown, I can see why some players might give up and start counting the days until free agency. Ship the lot of them out, hope that what we saw tonight from AK46/Pleks/Max Pac was the start of a quality #2 line and try to build a top line during free agency.

So all these big news tomorrow are players related? Sigh. It means no Carbonneau firing. It's sad.

yathehabsrule's picture
I doubt it's steroids or performance enhancing drugs based on their recent performances...

Gary320's picture
Okay, here is the updates from all the medias. Ron Fournier says the story is bad, it will be in the news tommorow (newspaper) and it involves the Young players Picard says that the players involved did not harm anyone but themselves RDS kept talking about SKOS/PRICE/HIGGINS when they mentioned the story. I'm starting to think it's either drugs related or steroid related.. What ever it is.. it's bad.

Ayan_SB's picture
Thanks for the update guys, and sorry about the repeat posts, my computer's messed up. Edit: I just read that La Presse posts its story of the day online by midnight. So it's worth a look...in 1 hour 20 mins.

Off of HFboards: Tony Marinaro on The Team 990 is reporting that there is BIG news coming tomorrow that will rattle the team and it's front office. Apparently he said and I quote "An English newspaper in Montreal is going to publish all the photos of the Montreal Canadiens players nightlife activities" And he is NOT talking about the ones we have already seen on the internet He said "much worse" and "much more disturbing". Practice will probably be cancelled tomorrow as the coaches and management will want to keep the players away from the media and if this rattles the team, kiss the playoffs goodbye guys and look forward to players wanting out of the city.

This picture (which includes Chipchura and D'Agostini) was taken in Cancun during the offseason. It was nothing to do with the current situation. _____________________________ Koivu for Prime Minister :) Drive for 25!!

Here's my theory: some players are gonna get indicted. Cocaine trafficking or some crazy stuff. Or, money landering within the organization. Carbo looked really sad in that interview. Now i feel bad.

So on Antichambre tonight, they said that there was a big announcement tommorow and that we should keep our eye on the media. Some really serious business about the Canadiens that might put a big stain on the organization. They all looked extremely sad and were saying things like "I hope it isn't true, I really hope we're wrong"

RiverviewCanadien's picture
They were saying Price, Higgins, Komi, Koivu in return for Vinny and Ranger

solsub's picture
So apparently something big is being announced tomorrow according to l'Antichambre. I'm getting a little hyped for all this. After all, how could this get any worse?

I can only hope Price is traded (along with Higgins) for a player like Malkin or Vinny, now THAT would make THIS team unstoppable with Halak in nets and Denis as backup...wow!

Aybara's picture
laugh out loud... ignorance is bliss i suppose

RiverviewCanadien's picture
You are a dip wad dipped in shitsauce... I can't believe you would keep Price over a player like Malkin, and yes if you look at the amount of money this team has saved due to injuries, they can afford it, there is only 23 games left and I believe they would be able to afford a salary of a player who makes 6.3 (they do not have to pay the full year salary)

TheMock780's picture
Ya cause that would work cap wise lol. Hopefully the league wouldn't notice that the Habs would be at minimum 6 million over the salary cap. And you don't give up on 21 year old goalies after one bad stretch. http://5-10andagamemisconduct.blogspot.com/

RiverviewCanadien's picture
sorry I forgot to say with 2 other roster players (Komi and Markov). I think they could do this...as long as we got one more D in return

Ayan_SB's picture
I read "unstoppable" and "Denis" in the same sentence, so it doesn't make any sense.

Ayan_SB's picture
Did O'Byrne steal another purse!?!?!

JB_15's picture
Carbonneau is fired tomorrow, mark my words L'antichanbre is tearing into him right now.

If we did not make another trade, this is what our team would look like (Ideally) Tanguay - Koivu - Kovalev Pac - Pleks - A.Kost Lats - Lapierre - Kostop Stewart - Begin - Laraque (Fourth line is a mess) Markov - Schneider Hammerlik - Komi Boullion - Gorges Price Halak In my opinion, our greatest needs are a 1st and fourth line center. We have the depth to make a trade, the only problem is most of our players are not signed. We have Higgins, S. Kost, D'ags O'bryne, Dandenault ECT.....

Richard's picture
BOONE: WHAT IS GOING ON??? WHAT CAN POSSIBLY BE THIS IMPORTANT ON ANTICHAMBRE??? Geez, it sounds like they're moving the Habs to Toronto. Sorry for the caps.

TripleX's picture
Engels claims it has to do with certain players and off ice activities. Apparently it is very bad.

TheMock780's picture
Ya I though so. My guess is the young players have been smoking a little too much tree or doing some other wild stuff off ice. Maybe some children out of wedlock who knows. This teams young players is starting to sound like the 80's Oilers off the ice. http://5-10andagamemisconduct.blogspot.com/

Unlike some people here, I still have optimism left in my tank and your negative posts are just mind-boggling. Ok a very tired team after six games on the road blew a tire and the goaltender failed to keep you in the game. All the mistakes you make seem to turn into goals and you wonder if some of these guys sneaked into the NHL because they really couldn't score to save their lives (that's you Higgy and you Kosto). -Can't say we didn't try. The boys didn't give up. -New number one line has been finally found. -AKos is on fire. Who said sending his brother down with make him play like this. Actually playin' out the worth of his contract. -Pleky just needed a two-game suspension to get his game back. Impressive what two games at home could do to a person. (Right Kovy?) -Price was solid but in a wierd game like today, we needed a solid performance. Some lucky bounces and some where you wonder what happened to this Kid. Price was pissed for losing last game in a shootout. Wonder how pissed he will be today. First career loss against the Pens I believe! -Schneider really shouldn't be played so much. Nice shot from the point. -MaxPac played one of his usual good game working his butt off. A whooping 6 hits. (Komo had 6 too!) -D'Ags...I didn't like so much. Maybe rehab in Hamilton and bring Sergei back? -Chipchura HAS to sit! I insist on playin' Begin! -BGL played 3 minutes! What a waste of money and cap space! -Among other NHL news, Buffalo lost! and Florida did too! Still not mch breathing room but we're not 8th yet. -I wouldn't push the panic button just yet. -Just think about it for two seconds. If we were actually winning a few and losing a few at a regular pace (no streaks). This game wouldn't have been so hard to swallow. The fact that it's coming in the middle of a big slump like this adds to negativity. -No point talking about Carbo coz it's a given that he ain't not going anywhere. I just don't wanna waste my time. Just stay positive. And please do not Boo the Habs! I know you guys are true fans but there are few people who have the audacity to commit such a cheap act.

That last minute was pretty embarrassing.

I think that only one line showed up tonight (Pac - Plek - AK46) The other lines didnt do anything. I think the game wasnt that bad but HOW can Carbo put Kosto and Stewart on in the dying minutes of the game!! In Washington or Pittsburgh, the final 2 minutes usually means that Ovechking, Backstrom and Seming or Malkin Crosby Sykora are on.. Carbonneau doesn't give his best players the most crucial minutes that they deserve... He has to gooooo.... FireCarbonneau.com!!!

Ummm....what do you think would upset the French media? Come on you know. Could it be, maybe, maybe ......CARBO IS GONE! What is the surprise!

The French Media don't like Carbo. It's something else of they're upset. Although my guess it's gotta be something about one of Carbo, Gainey, Gillette, Koivu, Kovalev or the kids partying way too much. http://5-10andagamemisconduct.blogspot.com/

It's probably something to do with Lats. French media would be devastated if something were to happen to Gui!

Okay I'll admit I have not been a big supporter of Carbo, but after tonight it's plain and simple right? That was a horrible job behind the bench, and he looks nervous, forced resignation maybe? All the Price haters , it will be easy to blame him , but i dont think he deserves it tonight. I said it earlier , they have to clear the front of the net, too many bodies in front of him. To coach a defensive game, and get 5 goals against is bad, but to score 4 goals, and they were not turnover Carbo goals , something is wrong behind the bench. Bob , tell Guy to resign, get behind the bench and coach this club. You think nobody wants to play here now, see what happens we dont make the playoffs!

I agree with you. Price may not be play well but not all goals are on him. I remember new jersey in their glory Lemair years played defensive style they barely gave the opposition any shots. Habs are consistantly outshot by 2:1 margine and goalies are always left to fight for the space in the crease cause defense is not able to clear opposition out of there. Carbonneau can say he plays defensive system all he wants but shots on goal indicate anything but that.

A lot of negativity on the site tonight (as always), but despite the result I saw some bright spots. The Pleks, AK46 and Max Pac line continue to shine. Pacioretty won't ever get another whiff of Hamilton. In a year or two, he will be a dominant player. Gorges played well and Komi played his best game in a while despite a few early gaffes. Price is coming around but hasn't really found his mojo at this point. Boy, does Dags need to work on his shot or what? With the chances he had in the third he could have easily scored both the tying and winning goals for the Habs. Koivu had no gas in the tank. A non-factor. Richards and other tough to play against centres will just eat him up. I also thought that Carbo's strategy in this game was flawed. Fleury isn't exactly on top of his game. The Habs could have benefited from a more aggressive forecheck early in the game.

Damn, missed the game. So how did it go guys? I am sure that without that bastard, cancerous, disease, who shall remain nameless, the Habs were victorious. Carbo must have the team flying high, now that he has his chosen players on the roster. With all the positive karma generated by the GM in last few days, how can anything go wrong. I am sure the locker room is just one happy family tonight. Can't wait to hoist the Cup in our Centennial Year. Cheers.

Yup, lets put Halak in and see how far he can carry this sorry excuse for a team. The Leafs have been better than Montreal since the all star break... NO PLAYOFF THIS YEAR! GET USE TO IT!
