3P 00:00:
Nice thing aout a late-game PP. No goons. And how about that glove save to [preserve the shutout!
3P 3:00:
Commodore tried to elbow Andrei K. I'd keep the skill guys off for the last few minutes.
3P 3:45:
Neil gets a misconduct. Smart call by officials
3P Break:
What a team effort! No passengers on the bus tonight, not one.
3P 4:40:
Another PK. Béwgin was brilliant. Heck, they all were.
3P 5:40:
Did you love Price nudging Neil's helmet?
3P 6:43:
Sergei takes an O-zone penalty. His coach will not be pleased.
3P 8:38:
What a shot by Andrei K! RFA this summer.
Game is over.
Goon time
3P Break:
Score on this PP and it's over. Canadiens have played just great tonight.
3P 10:00:
What a PK! Bégin, Hammer, Smo, Price ...
3P Timeout Ottawa:
They have to score here.
3P 12:12:
Bad time for a penalty. But the situation was getting out of hand.
3P Break:
Will they call Chris Neil for anything? Or just let him mig Price? Ridiculous. And, I fear, a playoff preview.
3P 14:00:
Carbo has played with the lines, to great effect.
3P 15:15:
Textbook lead protection so far.
3P 15:50:
2-on-1 for Smo and Tom. Gonna be a few of those.
3P 17:00:
Open net for Ryder. Higins is just excellent tonight.
3P 17:40:
Ouf! O'B got away with one.
3P 19:30:
Caps 4-1. Jeez, they're scary.
3P 20:00:
Canadiens have to keep it simple. Stay cool under the Ottawa pressure that's coming. Roll four hustling lines, pound it deep behind those big, lumbering defencemen and force the Senators to battle 200 feet for scoring chances. And as they press, odd-man rushes will open up.
Between periods:
I'm getting a tad antsy. Ottawa, you may recall, scored four unanswered third-perio goals at the Bell Centre. Canadiens have to push back against the Senators intimidation, but they have to do it intelligently because the Ottawa PP is due. If Plekanec had scored this sucker would be over ... Markov and Gorges have played more than 14 minutes
2P 00:00:
The Ottawa strategy a bit obvious, no?
2P 1:00:
Pleks blows what would have been the killer.
2P 2:00:
Another heroic PK
2P 4:04:
Could you read Tom the Bomb's lips? Is that why he was penalized?
2P Break:
Canadiens getting a bit sloppy in their end. If Ottawa scores before the period ends, they're going to come on like gangbusters.
2P 6:00:
Price robs Spezza off a Plekanec turnover.
2P 7:00:
Big night for Andrei K. Dangerous on every shift. Senators have two shots this period.
2P 8:20:
Dandy hustles to save an icing. Great, great effort by the supporting cast tonight.
2P Break:
Markov shaken up ... slightly. Whew!
2P 10:00:
I really like the third and fourth lines tonight.
2P 11:00:
Through 29 minutes, Senators have seven shots.
2P 12:00:
Higgins loses two D-zone faceoffs but Canadiens finally get a line change.
2P Break:
Senators must be freakin'. Their slump continues. Canadiens are full value for 2-0.
2P 14:32:
It started with a helluva outlet pass by Carey Price. And Dandenault finished the play off nicely.
2-0
2P 15:40:
Another PK. Smolinski is having a VERY good night.
2P 17:40:
Andre K. hustles Brian Lee into a penalty. And Ryder takes an elbowing penalty for a shoulder hit
2P 19:00:
Julien BriseBois told Pedneault that Kyle Chipchura is playing his best hockey of the season.
2P 19:59:
First fighting major of Markov's career.
2P 20:00:
Whew! Hammer is on the bench.
2P 20:00:
Tough sledding if Hamrlik is out and Markov has to sit for a while.
Between periods:
Ryan O'Byrne has to whack someone (without getting a game misconduct). They're taking liberties ... Very impressive work by all four forward lines. They cnsistently took it to the Senators ... Sergei K. needs practie on O-zone faceoffs, but that line had its moments. Christopher Higgins was outstanding ... Daniel F. is playing hurt and it shows. He'll get worn out playing D against the Plekanec line ... I can't remeber an easier period for Carey Price, but he was impeccable on the few shots he faced.
1p 00:10:
Spezza: tough guy with Markov. Man, I wish Komisarek were available.
1P 1:00:
Price very sharp on Heatley off fast line change.
1P 2:09:
OH NO!!! Hamrlik hurt!
1P 3:00:
Good shift by Lapierre line. All four are working hard.
1P 3:50:
Bryan Smolinski is terrific tonight.
1P 5:05:
I don't like in-game interviews. RDS guys point out that Pleks line against Spezza obliges the Senators big guns to play D. Which Alfie can do. But Heatley and Spezza ...
1P Break:
Has Carey Price had a quieter first period this season?
1P 5:40:
A third PP. How slow is Commodore? Sergei is having trouble on faceoffs. And norrible first wave ends in a Ryder penalty.
1P 7:00:
Pleks line is in the zone tonight.
1P Break:
Canadiens are WAY outskating Ottawa. Much faster team.
1P 9:30:
Canadiens better at holding leads than Ottawa is at coming back.
1P 10:36:
After lots of futzing around on the 5-on-3, Ryder makes a terrific pass and Kovalev goes roof with a backhand for his 35th (17 on the PP).
1-0
1P :
Ottawa too many men. Sergei on first wave. And Phillips ges again for cross-checking
1P 13:30:
O'Byrne and Streit.
1P Break:
Ottawa PP. Very efficient PK. Everything kept to the outside. Good start for Canadiens. Lots of jump.
1P 15: 52:
First PP. Great to have Streit back. Pleks wins faceoff and breaks stick. Second wave is Sergei, who promptly takes a bad penalty.
1P 17:35:
Lapierre, Latendresse and Dandenault
18:00:
Sergei's first pass: a beauty to Ryder.
18:40:
Spezza line against Pleks
1P 19:50:
Smo line against Fisher
A concern:
Without Komo or Bouillon, Canadiens are a little light on the back end. I'm not counting on Dandenault to thump Mike Fisher or Chris Neil.
Another thing I hate about Ottawa:
That immensely self-satisfied cop who sings the anthem
1P 20:00:
I'm expecting a great game. Ottawa needs it bad to shake itself out of late-season funk. Canadiens won't mail one in, like they did at the ACC.
Who is:
Michel Fervac-Larose?
Gui!:
Playoff beard lookin' good
Salaries:
For the Pleks line: $6.5 million. For Spezza line: $15 million
Martin Gerber:
looks like a lawyer (and Ray Emery looks like a defendant). Carey Price looks like a goalie.
Slow blog warning:
My Sympatico has been wonky today. I don't know if this is Ma Bell's idea of an April Fool's joke or if they're laying the groundwork for Sympatico's new premium (i.e. pricier) high speed.
Sergei K.:
For me, he's the key to the game. My man Sergei had 91 assists for the London Knights last season. No one in junior hockey had more. He will get the puck to Higgins and Ryder. The question is what they'll do with it. And will Bryan Murray try to match Spezza against Sergei?
The game I'd watch tonight if I weren't watching Canadiens-Ottawa:
Carolina at Washington. Should be a ripsnorter. Will Sergei Samsonov score on Cristobal Huet?
That game was totally amazing. Both teams deserved it, neither team quit. It was end-to-end action, fast-paced and totally entertaining. It was one of those games where you wouldn't have been overly dissapointed with the loss because at least we gave it our all.
Not like a Minnesota or New Jersey game... Yawn...
That being said, Price was clearly the difference. And with his solid positioning and ridiculous saves, there was little doubt that we'd come out on top.

Sens GM Murray since he took over the position this summer had one thing in mind and that was to improve his team for the final over the team of last year but little did he know that the final meant the final weeks run for a playoff position. The signing during the year of Spezza and Heatley to big contracts may have made them complacent with no edge and should have been done after the season maybe and Redden using that no trade clause negated a possible block buster deal that looked good for them. As 24 Cups brought up Muckler nust have that Spezza smirk on these days and helps the healing of the stab wound in his back inflicted by Murray.
Personally, I like this one better:
Carey Price's Last 13 games (games played since Huet was traded)
10-3-0 / 2.29 GAA / .933 SV% / 2 SO
And this is all while facing an average of 34 shots a game. For comparison, Chris Osgood, the NHL GAA leader, faces 24 shots per 60 minutes... figure it out.
We get that kind of goaltending from him next season over the course of the whole year, and ladies and gents, you have a very solid Vezina candidate on your hands.
PRICE FOR CALDER TROPHY!
I agree, but I fear that the League is hot for Patrick Kane and will give it to him instead. I'm sure that Carey has much bigger things in mind when it comes to awards and honours.
See you April 5th at the Bell Centre!
With the last two games in mind I wasn't expecting much from the CH tonight,... yet within context this was unmistakebly one of their very best game this season,...
" a perfect game " said co-captain Kovy after it was all over..... wow 100 points.... Bravo messieurs !
PS : worth of mention is the CH's PK improvement of late... they have allowed but 4 goals in their last 10 games.... amazing stuff.... and what about the big 31 wich just keep on looking bigger and bigger...
Someone said on RDS that the PK has allowed one goal in the last 36 tries. Unbelievable.
Plus it looks like we've finally learned to protect a lead...
Awesome victory- at least from the radio broadcast. If anyone can point me towards some replays, I'd be grateful.
C
CH Express, you can never go wrong.
Thanks man. Someone msgd me suggesting the video recap section of NHL.COM.
Still haven't seen a decent angle on that last second glove grab by Price, though. I hear it was wicked.
Not great quality, but...

(It was so wicked.)
Samsonov, no shots tonight against Cristo-wall.
Ahh, that sounds about right.
Hey Robert L, I just checked out my profile that you medaled with for April Fools, good one. I owe you one someday buddy.
TSN showed Spezza and Heatley riding stationary bikes after the game!
Montreal guys were doing the same the other night. Riding bikes after the game.
What's up with that?
Hope they had there golf bags beside them!
Haha... good one. I hope so too.
This was a great game for our confidence, a real total team win, but I have to tell you in the 3rd I was squirming in my chair on every play.
If Washington makes the playoffs they should give us a 1st round pick for Huet !!!
The only thing worse than watching them try to hold a lead is overtime in the playoffs Ian. I actually have to go outside, in between periods, because I have a hard time getting air. It actually makes me slightly queasy. And to think I could be feeling that as early as next week.
GO HABS.
Sorry, double hit.
God was hockey crazy in the 70's. Forget about it it's been so long:

Great stuff Doug! Imagine, a full fledged brawl, and only 32 minutes in penalties. I even saw J.C. Tremblay going after someone, and I noticed Jean Beliveau at the end of the clip. I have bookmarked this one, and will have to watch it again for sure.
Good stuff. Lapointe feeding Cashman, you gotta' love it.
GO HABS.
HUGE goal in Edmonton - and gorgeous one; what a shot. Battle of Alberta is fun. Kiprusoff has been a wall.
double post
I see my friend Double Doug is up to his tricks again :)
The only single sensible thing refs did tonight was toss this lowlife Neil out to avoid any bullshit at the end. Good call albeit the only good call during the game.
Oh man!!! HABS RULES, baby!!!
