On average, in the 2008-09 season:
It takes Alex Kovalev 78:56 to score a goal. Andrei Kostitsyn? He can find net in about 40:05 of ice-time.
AK-27 gets 3:42 more ice-time per game than AK-46.
Alex Tanguay earns a point for every 20:02 he plays. Chris Higgins needs 41:10.
Andrei Markov, the Habs leading point scorer (with 51) averages 0.76 points/game.
Georges “I deserve more ice-time” Laraques, is averaging a cool 0.07 points/game.
Oh, and it takes him 106:10 to get a point, of which he has two. In 2461 minutes, Carey Price has stopped the puck 1076 times.
That’s a puck every 2.29 minutes. He hasn’t stopped the puck 113 times. That’s a goal every 21.78 minutes.

Two guys with eerily similar numbers: Guillaume Latendresse GP43 G9 A9 Pts18 Pts/Game 0.42; Powerplay Points 3; ATOI 13:42 Matt D’Agostini GP44 G10 A8 Pts18 Pts/Game 0.41; Powerplay Points 3; ATOI 13:43

Latendresse has a (+/-) of +1. Dagger is -14. Josh Gorges leads the team at +14.

Maxim Lapierre, with 11 goals; 9 assists; 20 Pts has surpassed his totals from last season (GP53 G7 A11 Pts18)

The injured Robert Lang was putting up a goal every 46:53, while stay at home defenseman Mike Komisarek would do the same feat in 1062:52 of ice-time.

Only Andrei Markov has played in every game for the Habs this season. He didn’t miss a game last year either. He leads the Habs in ice-time, logging in 24:33. This year he’s taken 143 shots, finding net on only 6.29% of those occasions; last year he scored on 11.03% of his 145 shots. Markov is on pace for a career high 62 points.

Latendresse has spent exactly 1 second on the penalty-kill. TK has 24:18 on the powerplay.

Tom Kostopolous has 7 goals, 11 assists and 18 points in 63 games. Last season, in 67 games, he put up 7 goals, 6 assists and 13 points. In case you were wondering, for every 128:09 that TK is bombing around out there, he gets rewarded with a goal. It takes sometime linemate Mathieu Dandenault 161:07 to pot one, so if those two could get on schedule, they could be a pretty dangerous combo every 14 games or so.

….

Montreal is averaging 30.1 shots on goal per game; 31.1 against.

Last season the Habs scored 3.13 goals per game. This season it’s down to 2.91. Last season they allowed 2.63 goals per game, now that’s risen to 2.91.

In 332 opportunities, the Canadiens have notched powerplay goals. They’ve allowed 53 man-advantage tallies. The boys have shoveled in 10 short-handed goals this season but have themselves allowed 8.

Markov has 32 points on the powerplay. Koivu, Plekanec, and Tanguay have a combined 33. Saku had 16 goals in 77 games last year. Right now he has 13 in 50.

Price has an 0.838 save percentage when short-handed. Jaroslav Halak: 0.890. Price and Halak have respective save percentages of 0.921 and 0.920 while at even strength. 37 of the 73 goals that Price has allowed, have been short-handed markers.

Komisarek has thrown 154 hits and taken 44 shots. Combined, Komi, Gorges and Hamrlik have blocked a total of 460 shots.
Higgins and Plekanec lead the team with an average of 2.7 shots per game. Pleks has won 50.9% of 1137 face-offs (that’s 29.6% of the team’s total face-offs). Koivu leads the team face-off win percentage with a solid 54.8%. Laraques lost one of one.

So far, Markov has taken 1865 shifts.
Plekanec has scored 11 of his 18 goals on the road.
Alex Kovalev has coughed up the puck 52 times.

Great Job Chris. One stat I would love to know would be Price's (and Halak's) Save % with 2 men down. To me, Price is one of the best 5 on 3 goalies in the league.

Brilliant, I love stats like these, some of which can show an intriguing look at certain aspects of the Habs. My personal favourite is the comparison between Dags and Lats...makes you wonder what everyone is complaining about (although I will admit I am often the first to rag on Lats when he makes a mistake, but often overlook Dags' errors.)

Their numnbers are so close... kinda weirds me out. Are their stats so similar because of who they are or how they're used? Maybe first line? Maybe third line? Maybe healthy scratch? Interested to see how Gainey uses Lats when he gets back from that shoulder injury.

Figure in stats like hits, and Lats gets quite an upper hand. (100 in 25!-- ...what?)

Wow. Some insane late night number crunching. It's 2:22 am right now. How many seconds until the Habs score against the Islanders?
