Forward Garth Murray was claimed by the Florida Panthers on Tuesday after the Canadiens recalled him from Hamilton on Monday. The Panthers will only have to pay half of Murray's salary, with the Canadiens paying the rest.

Murray has only played in one game this season for the Canadiens and sufered a broken ankle that kept him out of action for nine games.

Murray goes unclaimed

Canadiens forward Garth Murray was not claimed off waivers by the league's 29 other teams and will likely be sent to Hamilton, RDS is reporting.

Also, former Hab Aaron Downey has been placed on waivers by the Red wings.

Murray out indefinitely with fractured right ankle

Garth Murray, having played his first game of the season on Tuesday, is now out indefinitely, having suffered a fractured right ankle during that contest against the Florida Panthers. Murray was struck by a shot during the game from Habs defenceman Andrei Markov but returned to action and played a total of 12:46. An X-ray yesterday revealed the fracture.
