The Gazette's Pat Hickey writes that Canadiens head coach Guy Carbonneau has some tough decisions to make concerning his defensive corps after the oustanding training-camp performances of Josh Gorges and Ryan O'Byrne.
Carbonneau must balance their performances against veterans Francis Bouillon and Mathieu Dandenault.
"You know what the veterans can do, but some of the young guys have come to camp well prepared and they're making the decision tough," Carbonneau said.

Canadiens defensive prospect Ryan O'Byrne hopes his size and rugged play will convince management to keep him with the club this season.
"This team doesn't have a lot of size and I'm hoping that will work in my favour," the 6-foot-5, 238-pound defenceman said. "I want a chance to show people what I can do. I think I had a solid year in Hamilton, especially late in the season and in the playoffs, and I think I'm ready for the NHL."
But O'Byrne also stands out because of his skating skills and mobility, especially for a player of his size. "He's effective because he's able to time his hits," said Trevor Timmins, Canadiens director of player personnel.
