About:
Born in 1987 in Toronto, blessedly raised in one home on the Southern tip of Montreal Island, my three earliest memories of hockey are telling my cousin Wayne (a Leaf fan who tried to make me one) that I always wanted the Leafs to win except for when they played the Canadiens. I can't stand the Leafs today, but I have respect for all sports fans of any team, unless they rub it in my face. everybody has the right to cheer for the team they adore, even my good friend Régis, who cheers on Boston, and my cousins in Ottawa, and even the gloaters in Tranna.
My second memory is of my father waking me up each night of the Stanley Cup final in 1993 to tell me about the game and letting me watch quick highlights and commentary. i don't really remember anything I watched, only the highlights that I have since seen. my other memory is watching the third period of game 7 of the first round in 1994 between Boston and Montreal when Ray Bourque scored to ultimately clinch the series. that is the first time that I ever had a sinking feeling regarding the Canadiens.
These events led to me reading The Gazette sports pages every day from the age of 6, where I learned most of the hockey knowledge that I still have today. Played inter-city hockey from the 95-96 season through to the 04-05 season. I have been blessed to have played with a great core of guys over the years that I won 5 regional championships with; most of them with the same nucleus of players. Speedy stay-at-home defenceman with limited offensive skills. my shot sucks haha.
I would give anything to have seen the Canadiens play in the 40's and 50's leading up to the 5 consecutive Cups.
